Long pls pls bear with me on this.
Help - dp's prestigious awards ceremony for his work award is looming 22 April in Baltimore.
No idea where to start as I am a tomboy type with penchant for jeans and funky tops and boots.

I have been told by other helpful mners that long, with split for dancing ( a whole other WTF thread there methinks)
Rules
No lace Grin
No frilly frills...
I am prepared to buy top underwear to get around any cut - but cannot do certain styles owing to looking like a channel swimmer due to hefty bustline.
I would prefer midnight blue/deep red but am flexible.

I am/have
size 10-12 more 10 by the time owing to crash diet
Slim hipped, but complicated with large bust. So bugger for fitting frocks and virtually rules out strapless.
I have good legs (when waxed and looked after lol)
Short hair.
Budget is generous but not silly. I would look to sell it on afterwards
I am prepared to get something tailored aftr buying too.
Which shop to start at?
Yours indebtedly
Piff

really try and find aftershcok as i think they are gorgeous

Piffle - I seem to be making a habit of offering Mumsnetters my dresses. But I figure someone may as well make use of them. If you are interested, I do have a beaded cocktail dress, Monsoon size 14. It's a sleeveless shift shape, but with wide enough straps to hide even a suportive bra (speaking from experience as a 32Fer). Quite low cut at front an back, so shows cleavage, but not too much. Length is just below knee. It's brown at the top, graduating to black at teh bottom, with heavy bronzyish beading on top graduating to light black beading at bottom. Matching fabric bag, and I've got some size 6 strappy sandals that go brilliantly.

Let me know if you are interested and I'll model it and post a picture. But this time I'll make little bro get up off teh floor - wouldn't want to embarass beety in evensong again!

Thanks to all who offered advice and dresses!
Thankfully after trawling Meadowhall trying on frock after effing frock that would not do up over my boobs or sagged around my waist, I found this
Ut looks IMHO gorgeous floats and fits like a dream
Desp wantd to buy from Coast, adored their strapless summer dresses. Might yet spoil myself there in the future.
Here is the frock if anyone is interested
Now what shoes? What accessories? Grin

That's not a valid web address!

MrsBadger · 26/03/2006 20:55

\link{http://www.phase-eight.co.uk/collection.htm#\this} one?
quite like the kind of thing the model has one - barely-there strappies in some shade of pink.

Will have a look...

top pink shoe picks:

\link{http://order.next.co.uk/shot.asp?b=G30&p=174&s=3&n=undefined\crazy pink mules}
\link{http://www.marksandspencer.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Product_Id=1932736&portal=locayta\nice shape} but can't tell if the pink's any good.
\link{http://order.next.co.uk/page.asp?b=X37&p=242&o=1\slightly mad wedges}
rather fine \link{http://www.boden.co.uk/col.asp?segname=Women&styid=AR273&segid=6&gpname=Shoes+%26+Boots&desname=Jewelled+Kitten+Heels&gpid=18&gen=\kitten heels}
Clark's Torino (under Sandals) is a good colour but are leather and may not be smart enough
\link{http://collection.hobbs.co.uk/Main/index.cfm?page=1009&parent=1008&element=1050&numdisplay=0&item=2\Hobbs wedge sandal} - again the suede may not cut it in the formality stakes.

Piffle · 27/03/2006 11:29

Thx for your research Mrs Badger!
Am likng the Boden ones best I think - am thinking could also get a little wear out of them with summer skirts etc.
Dresses are hideous to shop for
But shoes, now thre is a subject I cn trawl shops for hours looking for!
Faith had a perfect pair in Meadowhall but too high for me, I might need to be able to walk after all!
