Long pls pls bear with me on this.
Help - dp's prestigious awards ceremony for his work award is looming 22 April in Baltimore.
No idea where to start as I am a tomboy type with penchant for jeans and funky tops and boots.

I have been told by other helpful mners that long, with split for dancing ( a whole other WTF thread there methinks)
Rules
No lace Grin
No frilly frills...
I am prepared to buy top underwear to get around any cut - but cannot do certain styles owing to looking like a channel swimmer due to hefty bustline.
I would prefer midnight blue/deep red but am flexible.

I am/have
size 10-12 more 10 by the time owing to crash diet
Slim hipped, but complicated with large bust. So bugger for fitting frocks and virtually rules out strapless.
I have good legs (when waxed and looked after lol)
Short hair.
Budget is generous but not silly. I would look to sell it on afterwards
I am prepared to get something tailored aftr buying too.
Which shop to start at?
Yours indebtedly
Piff

Call Aftershock on 0207 637 3723
Ask them where they stock their drss S868 near you.

It is very special.

beetroot · 21/03/2006 15:24

If you are s size 10/12, I would question if youare a 36 btrw. Have you had your boobs fitted rexcently?

elliott · 21/03/2006 16:00

I would recommend a John Lewis personal shopper if you can get to one. Great with a focussed specific brief, and its just so luxurious to sit with a coffee while they run around the shop for you....

Piffle · 21/03/2006 17:29

Beety honest :)
Big norks small frame
Am 10 in Gap and M+S and Monsoon in skirts and trousers
Am easily a 14 and sometimes a 16 in tops
Grotty things, am going on crash diet and mass exercising, have already lost 1/2 stone since xmas but boobs have not gone down at all :(
Can I view the aftershock anywhere on line? And how much ££££££ ??

i have searched but can find nothing online. This dress is a beaded dress on top, with floaty beaded things hanging down (sounds weird but I though it was gorg. bery fitted and sexy.

here is a link to another site that looks intersting

\link{http://www.anoseforclothes.com/index.htm\ here}

The reason I question your bra size is that it is very the 36 means the size around your chest and then the cup size is the size of the breast. So if you are skinny you would have a small number and higher letter iykwim.

ie JOrdan will be a 30Z!

Piffle · 21/03/2006 18:03

Only slim in the hips tbh - I get cut up in a 34. I always wear properly fitted bras, not worth wearing ill fitting ones with big baps Grin
Am intrigued now...
Will def pop over to some decent shops at meadowhall and check out some hire places too I guess!
I could go for separates if I could find some really decent ones...

sorry to recap

where have you looked?

Jen1209 · 21/03/2006 18:57

I got recommended a fab site last week

www.asos.com

Stands for As Seen On Screen - has all sorts of lovely frocks on it as worn by famous people. They do dressy stuff as well as "normal" stuff, plus all the lingerie, accessories, shoes etc

HTH

Piffle · 21/03/2006 19:54

have checed asos, nothing formal enough there sadly, I have used it before.
Have checked online
Ghost
Planet
Debenhams (am liking some of them needing to go try on)
Monsoon - one or two maybes... found one or two on Ebay that I like too - linked below.
I live in a hick town that ony has a Woolie, and as dd has been unable to walk for 10 days, I have been housebound.
However, the great Meadowhall beckon this weekend...

cod · 21/03/2006 21:49

did you not like th pinky one?

Piffle · 21/03/2006 22:36

the rachel - mouret style one?
Not really me, too pink
I do like the last one in the line but fear it is not designed to contain... much

OP posts:
beetroot · 21/03/2006 22:39

I so wish you could see the dress i saw. Can youpop odnw for the night and see it?

beetroot · 21/03/2006 22:40

we could discuss 12 year olds as well

Piffle · 23/03/2006 17:54

Today got the invite and it is suits for men and cocktail frocks for the ladies Grin so not as super formal as I once initially feared. Am pleased I can wear shorter as needs to have legs showing to balance out the norks
Am hitting shops this weekend!!!!!!!!!
