enid did you get those trainers in the end? am lusting after some pink/green ones (that don't exist except in my mind..) and thought of you because of lurid colour combo

zippitippitoes · 02/03/2006 11:01

just

controlfreaky · 02/03/2006 11:01

dont change the subject bundle. have v strong views re patent shoes. no interest at all in trainers.

bundle · 02/03/2006 11:02

patent = pants

well really. how tone lowering is that. shall flounce off and stroke my patent shoes by myself.

zippitippitoes · 02/03/2006 11:07

sorry just

meant |i was trying to post as computer has managed to pick up some stupid virus

Bozza · 02/03/2006 11:08

You lot have got me really wanting some now. But black seems a bit of a dull colour to go for at this time of year. Would green be OTT for an almost 33 yo mother of two? Or maybe a deep blue? Opinions please.

Orlando · 02/03/2006 11:13

Noooo

Pumps are something worn by Debs' mothers when they come up to 'tine'.

And by children in reception when they do PE.

Patent ones? no no no.

controlfreaky · 02/03/2006 11:13

mmm. tempted back by query from stroking acivities... that would all depend on (a) what sort of green / deep blue and (b) what you intend to wear with them... my own view is coloured patent best with plain get up. risk of mad bag lady effect if worn as part of multicololoured get up... not a good look imo

Bozza · 02/03/2006 11:15

Just wasn't sure about black for the summer - but then there is a lot of black/white around. Probably would not be purchasing until the end of the month though and have not clothes that would match either colour probably. Hmm maybe I haven't thought much about this...

controlfreaky · 02/03/2006 11:16

no no no orlando. patent has long been liberated from dim posh county types / sloanes. do keep up. have you actually been shoe shopping recently?

Orlando · 02/03/2006 11:16

Practical in the snow, perhaps. Being very...wipeable?

But still no.

bundle · 02/03/2006 11:17

if you have to do patent, do jokey (and cheap) in rainbow colours, pref pumps

controlfreaky · 02/03/2006 11:17

bozza do not be put off. stay firm in your patent leather leanings.

Orlando · 02/03/2006 11:19

No. Am country dweller. Do you not know that old expression about not casting off your chunky biker-style boots until March be out??

Next month. That's when the shoe shopping recommences.

bundle · 02/03/2006 11:21

if you do "girly" dresses you have to do chunky footwear, otherwise it does look too twee (esp if you wear a headband)

Orlando · 02/03/2006 11:26

Feel you have pinpointed the problem, bundle.

Everyone may know that patent isn't for posh sloaney middle aged mummies anymore, but am deeply concerned that if I wore patent pumps, no-one would realise that I knew... And would think I was a posh sloaney middle aged mum in snurk-makingly unfashionable patent leather pumps, rather than up-to-the-minute fashionista with ice cool ironic taste in footwear. (sigh)

controlfreaky · 02/03/2006 11:26

or if you want to look like grayson perry?

bundle · 02/03/2006 11:27

with patents - skinny jeans ok..swirly frock not

controlfreaky · 02/03/2006 11:29

orlando, (sternly). repeat after me "fashion is a state of mind. i will wear what i think looks good and i will wear what i want to wear. i will not waste my time speculating about what other styleless people may think". 3x a day after meals should do the trick...

controlfreaky · 02/03/2006 11:30

yes bundle. v true.

bundle · 02/03/2006 11:31

you can just about get away with the dress if you wear leggings (i know, eeek) under it in a post modern ironic way. or jeans, which i think can create a bit of a bumpy look, depending on the weight of the dress fabric

sophiecountessofwessex · 02/03/2006 11:32

kIDS on ASBos should be forced to wear them

Orlando · 02/03/2006 11:32

(mutters bleakly) "Fashion is a bewildering conspiracy of cool. I will always end up feeling like Bridget Jones arriving at the party in the bunny girl dress no matter what I wear..."

Shall look at the lovely shiny patent...pumps (eew. still don't like that word) But almost certainly won't find them on my feet anytime soon.
