Dressing up a maternity dress

Hello all,

I am off to a very dear friend's wedding in a month or so. I will be 6 months pregnant & I have a lovely black wrap dress that is very comfortable that I would love to wear.

It is a Sikh wedding so I will be covering my head in the gurdwara so need a scarf. I was wondering if I could get a really bright wrap that I could fasten with a flamboyant brooch or somesuch that would brighten dress up for the rest of the day?

I know that my friend's sisters & family are wearing beautifully colourful saris & I really don't want to be "drab" and wearing just black. Thoughts on scarves/ brooches/ anything would be appreciated. Thank you!

How about something like this, this or this with a plainish broach like this

or a plain scarf with a lovely sparkly broach, pear and diamante. this is alovely colour. pink, ombre, soft pink, turquoise

Coloured shoes would be grand.

Ooh those nice, bright pashminas are super. My sister suggested having a look at the really big, bright flower corsages on folksy. There are some crackers on there... Thank you v much!

A big flower corsage would be great, but in your hair rather than on your dress.

Some ethic inspired scarves here, although not sure if they would cover head www.east.co.uk/store/EAST+Accessories/Accessories/Scarves/?pagesize=64 even better than that, some indian banarsi/sari type scarves may look the part, not sure about good online places, maybe check ebay?

For accessories, a blingy place to go for jewellery/brooches etc. www.shopbees.com/default.asp? - indian inspired costume jewellery - good quality...

The problem is That I have short hair so a bighorn corsage looks likes it's just perched on me. I will have a look online for an Indian type scarf. I do have a very pretty one with lots of jewels but it's browns and purples, so a bit wintry.

The brooches in that site are lovely but I was thinking about something a bit brighter. The East scarves are lovely.

Whoops. "bighorn" should read "big old" .
