What are they in your experience?

M&S Autograph opaque and wool tights are excellent. Wolford good but only in the sales and even then I nearly choke when paying for them. And they come up huge.

I think it's worth paying more for -

Urban Decay and Mac eyeshadows
Lancome mascara
Bentint

but I'm happy with Revlon nail varnish which is v cheap.

I'd deffo pay more for decent basic t-shirts from Hobbs/White Company sort of places, rather than cheap ones - the ones from the aforesaid hold their shape and last really well whereas Gap ones (for instance) look shapeless after just a couple of wears/washes.

I'd rather buy from 'better' shops (mostly in the sales) than buy from places like Primark/Dotty Ps, although I do think that H&M has the odd gem - mostly scarves or cotton blazers/waistcoats.

VivianDarkbloom do you change your shoes everyday? better to have two pairs that are the same and rotate than to wear the same shoes all the time. Shoes need time to breathe and over night is not enough.

Conversely - fed up of cheap nasty leggings I splashed out on Boden. They are no better than supermarket ones (but better waist band). Thin and pulling at the seams after 2 months.

Bought a wool/cashmere winter coat in Austin Reed sale about 6 months ago, reduced from £400 to £100. It is a thing of beauty.

Tea. Value, cheap tea is revolting.

Asked DH about 'man stuff' and he said cheap cotton t-shirts & shaving stuff are horrible.

Vivian, I used to have really stinky shoes, my Nan suggested at the end of the day sprinkling some Athletes Foot Powder in them, I don't know what it does but it works for me!

It's not S&B but people rave about Lidl/Aldi...aside from branded goods (and fruit/veg) in there I've never ever liked anything I've bought in there. Waste of time IMO.

BikeRun - I have a pair of Pure leggings and also a FatFace pair. They were about £25 each I think and have lasted really well - I was washing them twice a week through the winter and they haven't bobbled at all.

Howies for merino wool base layers.
North Face for luggage.
Tots Bots for cloth nappies
Skoda for cars
