Shoes and beds. When you're not in one you're in the other.

scripsi · 29/06/2012 23:10

hair straighteners, definitely. I went through loads before I succumbed to GHD and I've had my current ones for years now.

for years I only bought expensive foundations and concealer until I discovered bourjois healthy mix foundation and collection 2000 concealer. I do still buy some high end foundation for special occasions.

shoes - definitely (again one exception is a pair of primark boots which are very comfy, very high and have lasted years). I went through a phase of buying sales shoes which were either weird colours or hardly fit (fail).

firstsupermum · 30/06/2012 01:01

shoes, bra, bags, creams, furniture.......

Finbar · 30/06/2012 12:02

Winter tights definitely.
Am recent convert to Wolford and Falke -fit well, no ladders and wash brilliantly

noddyholder · 30/06/2012 12:42

Coats bags shoes chocolate coffee

lobsters · 30/06/2012 15:23

So where does everyone buy tights then? Mine are always tesco/ sainsbury/ boots/ wherever I'm near when they ladder and I just buy a multi pack.

I agree with leggings, shampoo, conditioner and also foundation

madmomma · 30/06/2012 16:26

Price seems to be irrelevant for me with regards to foundation. Mabelliene BB cream makes my skin look better than chanel, EL, LM etc. Dunno why. Tights, definitely. Wolford are the dogs'. Shoes; absolutely. Anything cheap hurts. Some cheap underwear is fine - asda t shirt bras have always served me well. Leggings I agree with, and also fairy liquid.Ooh cheese too.

Itsgottabebags · 30/06/2012 20:13

Cheap knickers

HaveALittleFaith · 30/06/2012 20:24

Vest tops. I kept buying cheap ones that looked naff after a season, I spent a couple more quid per best top in May and they're much nicer.
Definitely leggings, cheap ones are see-through.
Jeans as well. I remember being Shock when I finally relented and spent £45 on jeans (previously been buying cheap supermarket ones) but they fitted so beautufully it had to be done. They are now 4 years old! Need to replace them but they don't make them any more :(

mynameis · 30/06/2012 20:34

13 yr old dd is a leggings fan and goes thru so many primark ones

Where can I buy decent ones from?

daisyrain · 30/06/2012 20:38

Topshop leggings are £18 & last forever :)

Downandoutnumbered · 30/06/2012 20:50

Shoes - just spent £80 on a pair after years and years of buying from Marks and Sparks, and the difference is mind-boggling.

Bras

Tailoring - every cheap suit I've ever bought has been awful.

HaveALittleFaith · 30/06/2012 21:03

Actually I buy most of my undies from Asda and really like them. Much better fit than most places including M&S.

lobsters · 30/06/2012 21:04

Should have added jeans, splashed out on Levi Demi curve and I love them, need to buy another pair

Itsgottabebags · 30/06/2012 21:24

lobsters quite a few Mumsnetters have found them at TK Maxx shoukd you ever want more.

Re the leggings, RI are shit and fall apart. I'm having much more success with Next.

I abhor primark but I used to persevere with H&m but wash the clothes with kid gloves. I have just shrunk a maternity top that went nowhere near the dryer and that's it I've had enough!

Bershka jeans fall apart instantly butcrivet island (£40) will go the distance.

A lot of things are hit and miss. I'm about to bin a load of Tesco bras but I bought one for £4 that looks pristine still after a million washes

Itsgottabebags · 30/06/2012 21:34

scarred don't bin your bras if they are still in ok nic. Charities will give them to women in developing countries.

OP posts:
whitelillies · 30/06/2012 21:45

Jeans - I mean buy wisely not necessarily the most expensive and just for the name but the cheaper ones tend to lose their shape and colour after a few washes.

Yy shoes

I have actually bought some great stuff in zara Smile

Coats and jackets - better buy the good stuff !

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 30/06/2012 22:00

Shoes and handbags.

Shampoo/creams/lotions etc.

Bras.

lurkingaround · 30/06/2012 22:19

Pointless buying cheap:
Bras
Coats
Coffee
Beds
Towels (completely pointless buying cheap ones)
Hairdryer
Hoover

Buy once, buy right.

lurkingaround · 30/06/2012 22:37

Kitchen knives. The sharp ones, that is.

HaveALittleFaith · 30/06/2012 22:38

Oven cleaner
Vodka
Bin liners

Scarredbutnotbroken · 30/06/2012 23:14

It's- they are coming apart but otherwise great suggestion thanks

scripsi · 01/07/2012 16:11

Primark leggings: I wouldn't touch their viscose ones (bobble and fall apart) but the Primark light support control ones I've had look as good as new and I've had them for ever (and frequently buy more as they create a lovely smooth line and are completely opaque).
