Do you have facial hair?

How do you manage yours and hw often?

Facial hair has really had a great negative impact.

My facial hair problem is worsening as I age. I decided to buy a magnifying mirror and a pair of Tweezerman tweezers and pluck the hairs out.
Very time consuming, took a few hours as I have lots of hair. Pleased to report I have lost the telltale grey shadows on my jawline.

But raised bumps have appeared and some of the hairs were transparent. I'm wondering whether this is because of the four sessions of laser treatment I had and the pigment is forever lost?

I also brought the new Braun Silk Epilator with facial attachment. Useless, threading hurts and waxing is expensive.

I'll keep on tweezing. I feel so much better and more feminine already :)

Sorry, vaniqa not vaniqua bloody phone!

holyfishnets · 06/07/2012 23:38

Philips Lumea Hair Removal System with IPL Technology. From Argos. The newer version can be used on the face too. It takes about 6 weeks before you start to see the effects. My friend swears by it. It has changed her life.

Itwillendinsmiles · 07/07/2012 09:27

Derby I asked my GP about Vaniqa and apparently in my PCT it is not prescribed because of cost...

valiumredhead · 07/07/2012 19:59

Hmm presumable if you bought the IPL thingy from Argos you could take it back if it was crap...

I'm seriously considering getting one.

DerbyNottsLeicsNightNanny · 07/07/2012 20:02

Any more success stories with vaniqa?? Ipl & laser no good for me as majority of my hairs are fair. Does the vaniqa work for all hair colours?

Itwillendinsmiles · 07/07/2012 20:07

valiumredhead · 07/07/2012 20:11

What's the difference between the £399 one and the £299 one?

Pinot · 07/07/2012 21:13

PCOS here too, though better now than when I was younger. I shave my 'tache in the shower once a week and tweeze like theres no tomorrow daily as I do it as soon as I feel a tell-tale prick. As it were.

valiumredhead · 07/07/2012 21:43

Me too pinot but it's either getting worse or I am just noticing it more. Only staRTED AFTER I HAD DS 11 YEARS AGO -oops caps lock!

AuntieMaggie · 07/07/2012 22:02

I have very fair hair and it does show :( esp on my jaw line, side burns and neck esp since i now have short hair (because of the hot flushes/sweating i get its easier) courtesy of pcos. this means the laser treatments wont work and much of my hair is too fine to pluck. so i use dps hair trimmers and he sometimes shaves my neck!

cocolepew · 07/07/2012 22:04

I would sometimes shave my 'tache too, PCOS here as well. DD2 is very dark and hairy and I bought a cheap ladyshave for her. I sometimes will run this over my face too.
I have no shame Smile

cocolepew · 07/07/2012 22:06

Annie the hair on my jawline is fair (or maybe greyHmm), though I am dark haired. Its these I run the ladyshave over.

TheGruffalosbitch · 07/07/2012 22:33

I've got that cream. Didn't have to ask for it my dr just offered to me as soon as I said I have PCOS it does work x

03angels · 07/07/2012 22:40

Hi PCOS here too Sad

I got prescribed the vanqua cream too persevered for 6 months with v. Little results - though I'm dark skinned and therefore have DARK hair,

Iv been using immac but even the sensitive one has started to blister my lip Sad

Back to the drawing board for me Blush

joanofarchitrave · 07/07/2012 22:47

PCOS again. Chin, throat and upper lip are all quite bad, plus I have sidies which are long but quite fine.

I plucked until about six months ago but it was just taking a ridiculous amount of time and energy. So now I shave twice a day. It isn't as good at removing the shadow, and I have to resist the temptation to do my entire face rather than doing just the heaviest bits, but it's so cheap!! so quick!! so painless!!

Milliways · 07/07/2012 23:02

I got an epistick (epicare) after reading about them here on an old thread as was only about £2. I have been getting threaded so thought if I could cope with that pain I could do it myself.

It was hell the first time, but it DOES get better, and if I did a bit daily it would be a doddle, but I think the hair is growing less so I do it every few weeks.

SoleSource · 08/07/2012 00:15

I was covered in hair again yesterday so I started to pluck, took too much time so I succombed and shaved about 1pm today. Prickly again. Stressful, unattractive, embarrassing condition. Spoils confidence. GRRRRRR Angry

My hair on my chin is so thick, that when I tried the veet waxing strips, I took a layer of skin off, and left behind the hairs :(
Hurt for a while and made it all even more obvious! >:(

I really want a miracle cure for it, as I HATE it. I hate feeling the prickles.
I have shaved since I was 14... I know I shouldn't have done. Wished I'd just bleached it back then and left it tbh :(

SoleSource · 17/07/2012 13:55

I plucked again yesterday. I noticed the hairs are much easier to pluck out. They slide. The hairs are much finer as people here said they would be. ?The hairs are not sharp or coarse as burn't grass as before.

I'm sooo happy! Following MNetter's advice, buying a pair of Tweezerman tweezers and a maginifying mirror has changed my life. I look better - the grey dark shadow has GONE!

I'm a woman, again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Thanks Thanks

I have one of those Epicare things for my upper lip, it only takes a few minutes once a week, and doesn't hurt once you get used to it.

Have tried wax strips but they leave my skin red and sore. Wouldn't shave on my face, I have dark hair and the stubble would be very obvious.

SoleSource · 17/07/2012 15:38

The Epicare gadget was really painful the last time I tried it. I will have to buy another and try.

I even go outside without make - up as I do not need to cover the grey areas LOL. I feel so much more confident and free :)

The Veet epliator spray is great for numbing the area first. Altrhough staes not for use on the face, it has not hurt me :) Around £6 from large branch of Boots.

nymeria · 17/07/2012 16:48

The epicare is like any kind of epilation - if you use it for the first time on a fully-hairy area, it's going to be uncomfortable. But used regularly to just remove a week's regrowth, it's fine. For me, anyway!

SoleSource · 17/07/2012 17:07

I brought a Braun facial attachment epilator about one month ago. It didn't work. I think the Epiucare would.

I could quite easily join the boys for Movember! I have a tiny bulldog clip by my desk which I discretely use to rip out multiple hairs if I can feel some of those super thick furry beasts on my top lip!
