I am using an 'ignore whilst it is happening' approach (albeit she has to go to her room so I can ignore from a distance.) I wont engage until she has completely calmed down and apologises for her behaviour. Then we chat about it. And there is one consequence as a result of the behaviour (last night she lost her TV time for example.) I am not claiming this is the right way BTW . Luckily this is getting increasingly rare, so I am hoping it wont be a regular thing.

We had a lovely snuggly cuddle on the sofa the night before whilst watching 'A Little Princess' (the current fav) and she told me that 'I was definitely the best Mummy in the world.' I thought about charging upstairs and reminding her about that when she was hollering in the room and slamming around, but the (small) adult bit in my brain decided it probably wouldn't help Grin

Thank you annie - that's just the sort of thing I need. He can't see the difference whereas the Me&Em feels more 'out to dinner' to me. But he said if you ladies say there is a difference he will give me the benefit of the doubt and I can keep it (can't afford to buy it myself Blush)

It's mainly polyester! I did try some nice wool ones on but being a pear I struggle with tailored dresses. The Davina fits across the bottom in a 10 but is slightly too big across the top so I will need to have it altered in time but will do for now.

Is a boucle jacket acceptable or not? Sorry for ignorance but whole new world for me!

Fleecy · 19/06/2012 11:54

Yes ny you do seem to have a wonderful relationship. And you're obviously setting clear boundaries so I'm sure it will be fine. Reassuring to hear of everyone else's tantruming children and know we're not the only ones!

Ooh that's good then - I have a navy and white one that goes perfectly Smile

DonaAna · 19/06/2012 12:15

Fleecy and Annie, I love boucle jackets. I have a few from Tara Jarmon and they are the most useful work wardrobe items ever - travel well (no ironing), always stylish, can be dressed up with shifts and down with jeans, and keep me warm in over-A/C'd America. My oldest must be well over 10 years and it's still in rotation.

Fleecy I'll keep my eyes open today and give you an update of Rome street style.

suburban · 19/06/2012 13:11

Dona that sounds divine Smile. I lost my baby weight using that book, (not the beserk leek soup bit) and mostly keep all the principles up now. It's the only thing I have ever been able to stick to.

Red I'll do a ballet pump pilgrimage tomorrow. I need to get some pants for DD I had been blissfully ignoring all her signs that she needs to be potty trained, but last night she made me change her every time she did a wee(yawn).

Yes Marsha at the moment he is working in London so away Mon to Fri, but it varies. He works for a contractor and gets moved roughly every 18months or so. We used to go with him but I got sick of the uncertainty so we bought a house in my home town. It can be a bit of a drag, but is working well for us right now because I don't have to put up with him coming in late and being stressed and he can focus on work in the week and us at weekends.... I say that but he still spent a lot of Sunday on the phone/laptop. Isn't it sad how blackberries etc mean nobody is ever free from work anymore.

Russianred · 19/06/2012 13:13

I can't drink wine now, can I?! My goodness, what a morning! It is so reassuring to hear that other DC are up to the same thing. DS wants my attention constantly and if I leave him, only for a moment (to dress DD, to dress myself, to make a bed, to load the dishwasher etc etc) he goes into one. I am leaving him in his room and walking away but he has recently picked up some foul language (from nursery I think - am going in this afternoon to talk to them. I won't be PFB-ish, rather seek their advice) that makes it hard to ignore. I am trying with all my might. He's just a seething mass of hormones - is alternately shouting 'go away Mummy', 'I want you Mummy' and in his calmer moments is hugging and kissing me with passion that borders on aggression. I'm exhausted and DD is largely having to be ignored.

I did Grin when thinking of your DD NY. When DH is around, I can laugh at his wilder moments, but not when on my own.

Fleecy Davina very different, for Annie's reasons. I couldn't wear Me&Em to work, definitely not, but I would wear Davina.

Hope DD2 perks up Decam.

Ollie I loved the Whistles link - only just looked at it. Could quite happily buy the place out if I earnt any money!

CHOOGIRL · 19/06/2012 13:31

Fleecy. Definitely Davina. I wear mine to work a lot. It ticks a lot of boxes. Is this a new client or the one you were with previously?

Emo76 · 19/06/2012 13:47

fleecy I wear me&em to work with a jacket, Davina I don't think nec. needs one. I wear my me&em a lot as it is [sensible emoticon] machine washable!

I love your DD NY. She is so spirited. Hard to hold onto that when she is yelling you're a witch, I know.
Like Red, glad to know I'm not alone with tan truming DC. Our DS4 is unbelievable at the moment. When he doesn't get what he wants he yells *youre an idiot" or "you're stoopid". Yet he is such a sweetie the rest of the time. It's like a red rage descends!
Lots of DVF on the outnet alright.
Not as cheap as mine! [smug emotion]
Liked your biker Suburban this morning. Very nice!

Fleecy · 19/06/2012 14:28

I am leaving at 5am or something silly to get to Canary Wharf for a 9.30 meeting so I will take a jacket - brr!

Will keep Davina then, to play it safe you understand Smile

choo different bank this time. First time meeting though so want to make the right impression.

annie am Shock at the leggings and lace-up boots, even in my generally casual industry! Skinny jeans or even leggings acceptable but not with lace-up boots.

red I say never too early for wine but I only drink every couple of weeks in general so if I fancy one early in the day I have one! Think if you had wine every day it might be a good idea not to start before lunch...

Hopefully · 19/06/2012 14:35

Just popping in for a quick catch up. Annie thanks for the pm, have followed you. Will go and check out other Pinterest boards in min too.

Suburban approved of your biker this morning!

I have just given in and ordered new underwear, having decided after much perusal of images online that I probably won't get the use from 5050s that I would need to in order to justify the cost, so naturally the money was going spare Grin. I am two back sizes smaller than some of my older bras, it was just getting silly, and it makes clothes look so much better if the underwear fits properly. Not that this exactly solves the complete lack of clothes, but hey, I can always go out in just my pants now... The panache tango range, which is reasonably attractive yet sensibly supportive, is mostly 30% off on figleaves, and I really rate the (expensive but awesome) lejaby gloss and nuage ranges for mostly-invisible-under-clothes bras that aren't totally hideous when you get undressed Smile.

Fleecy I would have worn both Davina and Me&Em for work, but I've never worked in an uber-formal environment like banking/law office etc (was a journalist), so not sure if my opinion counts for anything at all! I think Davina is an awful lot more sensible though (although this isn't necessarily a positive thing, of course, depending on the look you're hoping for).

rufus101 · 19/06/2012 14:48

Lovely lovely poem Annie

Fleecy · 19/06/2012 14:52

Thanks choo - will do it now...

dumbo1 · 19/06/2012 15:04

I got my blue Gracie today!

It is so beautiful and arrived gift wrapped

CHOOGIRL · 19/06/2012 15:07

Dumbo Grin

Fleecy have responded. Forgot to mention the shops in Jubilee Place and Cabot Place worthy of a detour. Zara is well stocked and that time of day you will pretty much have the whole store to yourself.

Fleecy · 19/06/2012 15:35

Yay dumbo - another one for our A&W collection.

choo I currently have meetings all morning and possibly some in the afternoon so if the later ones don't go ahead I might be able to nip off and indulge in a spot of shopping afterwards. Fingers crossed!

hopefully am I right in thinking you ordered and returned a Davina because it wasn't very 'you'? I am trying to look sensible on Thursday. I feel as though I'm playing at being a grown up as I usually wear jeans!
