Welly Advice. Hunters or Joules?

I have decided the time has come to buy some decent wellies. Today I have seen both Hunters and the Joules Premium ones. There is a big difference in price, but will I really notice the difference? When I asked in the shop they said the only difference was in the length of the guarantee. I know they aren't really stylish or beautiful, but I could do with some help.TIA

Le chameau, leather lined, will last forever and always look right

Another vote for le chameau

I bought Joules wellies with 25% off before xmas. On the third wear (gentle country walks) one of my feet felt wet. The lining inside underfoot is also work. The buckles on the side slip undone.
Before these I had a 12 pair from Asda that served me better

Yet another vote for le Cham. Mine have a twice daily hammering, mucking out, turning out/bringing in horses and are have been more than out through their paces over the past few years, yet they're still going very strong! They're also very comfy to walk in, rather like slippers!

£340 for a pair of fucking wellies, here, are they taking the piss? Shock

Bluestocking · 16/02/2014 21:43

Aigles, all the way. DP bought me a pair of the neoprene lined ones for Christmas, and they are the most comfortable footwear I've ever had.

I don't like either.
Hunters are too skinny, can only comfortably worn with jodphurs or skinnies. And they don't last for the money. Only fit for festivals.
Joules are just TOO EXPENSIVE. I couldn't believe how much my Dad paid for mine! They have a weird shape/curve at the heel and they rub rub rub. Also only suitable to be worn with skinnies.

DP swears by his £8 Dunlops. I would recommend going to a farm/horse type shop and seeing what they've got.

Hunters are shit, mine have barely had an outing, I bought then as a once in a lifetime purchase but the heel has worn down very quickly, they leaked and the sole split from the heel....I've had them a while but they are not an investment buy....just a bit of fashion frivolity.

Muck boots. Warmest most comfortable pairnofnwellies I have ever worn. Not as smart perhaps as le chameau but when it's cold and muddy I couldn't care less what they look like, just that my feet are warm!

daily fail's guide to wellies

le chameau but keep it quiet otherwise the quality might deteriorate like everything does when it becomes so popular that they realise that they could produce on the cheap because we might just want the label on our boots and don't give a sod about quality. Am I a cynic or what, but I love my chameau wellies and don't want it all to go downhill from here on, as seems to be the way of all things.Hmm

I have Hunters and Le Chameau. I have worn the Hunters the most of the 2 and have never had a problem with them. The kids and dh have Hunters too.

I have heard other people moan about Hunters, but we find them really comfortable and hard wearing. DS1 has another pair of Dunlops. He likes them as they're fleece lined, but they look a bit big and flappy to me.

Le Chameau are fab - and likely to outlive me.
