Cheap as Chips but Worth Their weight in gold products?

Having fallen for (I can't believe I'm writing this) a Lidl eau de parfum, I'm wondering what other budget busting copies or just stand alone products I've been missing out on?

Can we have this thread saved in classics?

Johnson and Johnson detangler which I bought in Asda.

Gliss Asia straight shampoo and conditioner £1 each from the pound shop

It's also a lovely purple colour. They also do a gold colour shampoo and conditioner by Gliss - same price

Agree with Sin Gliss shampoo and conditioner from Poundland very good (made by Schwartzkopf who are excellent IMO)

Boots "Natural Collection" range of make up - usually 3 items for £5 - mascara is the best I've ever used and is so cheap I don't mind chucking it away after a couple of months (although you don't need to, it's still going strong!) which is something I won't do when I've paid a lot of money for one.

Baby oil (used to use Bio Oil, until I realised the hype was just hype).

Rimmel waterproof mascara, have used it since I was 17 (a very long time ago).

Are we allowed to ask for recs? At the risk of scuppering the thread, would like to find a cheap eye cream. None of them really get rid of lines, so would rather spend a little on one that is nice but useless, than a lot on a nice-but-useless

weefee · 07/06/2012 10:42

Aldi's version of Bio-Oil £3.99 I think and just as good.
"Give it Aldi!"

AbsofAwesomeness · 07/06/2012 11:28

Baby wipes. Boots normally has them on sale (the Johnson and Johnson ones) for £1. Very good for removing make up, cleaning, everything.

Dr Palmers Cocoa butter - it's practically the only body moisturiser I continually use, and have done so for about 15 years.

MrsWindsor · 07/06/2012 11:56

Baking soda. For cleaning, in my shoes and perhaps even when I get a nasty little spot that needs to disappear fast.

Mustgettogym · 07/06/2012 12:29

Olive oil as night cream

And as body moisturiser!

Baby oil as eye make up remover too

Nipple cream for chapped lips and dry skin!!!!! Read this us used by lip models ha

Almond oil best for hands - from a hand model

Another Aldi skincare fan here. The Syn-ake (sp?) antiwrinkle thing is astonishing and the Q10 day/night creams are pretty damn good.

Also seconding Tresemme, Nivea, Vaseline, Pond's cocoa butter, Astral.

Adding Norwegian Formula hand cream and Vitapointe hair smoother/softener.

Almond oil and glycerin from the chemist.
Olive oil from the supermarket.
Oatmeal from the health shop.

I make a rich, softening hand & body lotion from a tub of Aqueous Cream, a bottle of almond oil, a bottle of almond oil and some water. Stick the cream in the mixer, trickle oil & glycerin in until it becomes a thick, fluffy lotion, then add water to the texture you want. Add essential oils if you feel like it. Doesn't need to be kept in the fridge.

Olive oil makes a good hair mask, makeup remover, everything really!

Oatmeal face packs for cleansing & smoothing.

I used to buy kaolin from the chemist for brilliant cleansing packs, but it's hard to get now. You can use cat litter, though! The natural clay sort - mash it to a powder in the blender or pestle & mortar. It's grey, unfortunately, not white, but does a good job.

tharsheblows · 07/06/2012 13:10

Conditioner as curl cream! Better than anything else bar Aveda Be Curly and very nearly as good.

MrsWindsor · 07/06/2012 13:20

Clearly, I need to go to Aldi more often.
