Who's had their colours done & is happy with the result ?

I had mine down 3 years ago. I have dark brown haor, dark brown eyes, pale skin & medium brown eye brows.

I was 'diagnosed' as a deep autumn. However, I find these colours really quite drab on me - I'm a bit of a bright pink/lilac person. Have ditched the pale blue because I can see that really drains me, but I can't get to grips with the colour palette given to me. Yes sad I know, but all confidence is lost & I need help !

Had mine done 18 months ago - I'm a summer - I love it - know I look a lot better now. DH loves it too - I walk into a shop, say wrong colours and walk out again - much quicker. Had my style done too last year as b-day present from the entire family. Am much better at getting the shape right too now. Think because I know my consultant, and know she always gets it right, I have lots of trust that she knows what she is talking about

I want to have mine done but not really sure due to price and an expectations they'll age me by about 20years and put me in colours I hate.

I need persuading.

but when do you wear navy???

CountessDracula · 21/02/2006 11:13

Ah but cod have been told by a colour person that I DO look good in black so NER!!!

Enid · 21/02/2006 11:13

you are winter then I think?

CountessDracula · 21/02/2006 11:15

yes, a freind of my mum's was a colour person, I didn't want mine done on the basis that I only wore black anyway most of the time and I was too mean an she said "OH is lucky you look good in black then"

CountessDracula · 21/02/2006 11:17

I like browns and blacks and burgundies and autumny sort of colours though - she said I would look good in blue but I rarely wear it as don't like it

Mascaraohara · 21/02/2006 11:28

Being a red head if they tried to put me in any 'colour' I think I'd just die. Leave me to my browns/olives/creams/khaki/mushroom and blacks.

How do you go about finding these - what are they called? colourists?

LeahE · 21/02/2006 11:30

I had it done but with the Directional method rather than the Seasonal. I'm strongly Cool (as opposed to Warm) and middlingly strongly Bright (as opposed to Muted) and Deep (as opposed to Light) - that equates to some kind of Winter in the seasonal scheme.

Cristina7 - You get fabric swatches to take shopping with you but get used to "good" colours quite quickly. For example I know I need to look for colours with a cool (rather than warm) undertone so a slightly blue/purple shade of red will be good while a slightly orange shade of red won't, while it's easy enough to tell if something is deep and bright. Plus I have a mental checklist of colours I must never ever ever wear (any kind of beige, cream, ivory, yellow or orange, and any kind of brown except a really really really dark chocolatey brown if I really must). It does make shopping much easier (especially when browns are very in, when I can cast an eye over an entire shop in 30 seconds and know there's nothing that will suit me - although maybe that's 'quicker' rather than 'easier')

I am having mine done soon.
I've wanted it done for years and my lovely dh secretly booked it as a Christmas present.
Can't wait.

noddyholder · 21/02/2006 11:35

I can't think of anything worse than someone draping bits of cloth across you and 'advising'what suits you.Very new money and Barratt home

RachD · 21/02/2006 11:37

Mascara o h , there are many different consultants, some cheaper.
Most welll know and most expensive is "colour me beautiful = www.cmb.co.uk"

GeorginaA · 21/02/2006 11:41

Had mine done and loved it. I've discovered that some of my favourite colours are in "my colours" but also I have embraced red - never thought I should get it before as I'm pale - I thought it would wash me out, but it really suits me.

Think it was worth every penny - has saved me loads of money in mistakes.
