Gaaaah, Lush Shampoo Bars

DD has waist length hair. Yesterday we were doing the condition and Nitty Gritty comb, then I rubbed her tresses with the Lush bar to wash out.
Her hair felt like it was coated -sticky, claggy, couldn't get a brush near it.
I had to send her to school in a plait (and a bad mood).
So tonight she showered and shampooed. Still feels coated.
Third wash with that childrens headlice repellant one to see if it will strip it out.

I'm tearing my own hair out while I'm trying not to pull hers Confused

She will also shortly have massive flakes of dandruff. They are truly terrible.

sayjay · 14/05/2012 21:25

Really? My hair was lovely after using one!?

CMOTDibbler · 14/05/2012 21:30

I've had loads of them, as they are fab for travel, and have never had claggy hair

Panzee · 14/05/2012 21:42

I've always had great results with mine.

GobblersKnob · 14/05/2012 21:46

I love them, especially Godiva. Can't understand where you went wrong Confused

Panzee · 14/05/2012 21:51

Which one was it?

Onamission28 · 14/05/2012 21:51

I love the cinnamon 'new' bar. Terrible name but amazing results for my hair.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/05/2012 22:01

Can't remember which one- it's yellowy with brown 'bits' in it. Meant to be one of the moisturising ones. I bought it back in February and discovered it in the cupboard last weekend.
I even bought the little round tin to store it in .(Doesn't even smell nice either) Sad

I had one (and the tin) and it was lovely. Lots of lather and smelled really nice.

And it lasted for ages - great for travelling.

whackamole · 14/05/2012 22:18

I liked them. And I'm surprised there is claggy stuff in her hair as IIRC there is sodium laureth sulphate in them which is basically soap, so should strip the hair completely.

IAmOptimusPrime · 14/05/2012 22:19

This made my hair terrible, all matted together and felt horrible.

I think I put an intensive conditioner on it in the end.

Meglet · 14/05/2012 22:23

Soak 'n' float. The stinky one for bad scalps?

None of them should be claggy. They are always the best shampoo but they do the job. I've not had problems washing them out.

The only one I don't like is the solid conditioner, jungle, was crap on my wavy hair.

Meglet · 14/05/2012 22:26

I meant to say ' they are not always the best shampoo'. I love lush but it's not that amazing.

bruffin · 14/05/2012 22:33

I've got that one and use it after swimming never hsd a problem with it.

raininginbaltimore · 14/05/2012 22:34

You are supposed to lather in your hands and then put on hair, rather than rub bar on hair. Dunno if that makes a difference.

TerraNotSoFirma · 15/05/2012 10:47

Try and get hold of Lynx detox shampoo, I borrowed DH's the other day and my hair was squeaky clean.
I would imagine that would remove the build up.

FridayOLeary · 15/05/2012 10:58

Really? I've been using them for last 6 months and they are Fab.

Dropdeadfred · 15/05/2012 11:00

My dd had one of these once - it was awful and the smell gave us all a headache

supernannyisace · 15/05/2012 11:08

I have used a few different shampoo bars and quite like them.

MsOnatopp · 15/05/2012 11:27

You rubbed it in her hair??! Shock

How many times?!

Seriously a couple (max!) of rubs in your own hands and then on to the hair with what is in your hands.

I dread to think how much shampoo you have clogged her hair up with :(

User error, sorry!

MsOnatopp · 15/05/2012 11:31

and what do you mean by rubbed? you surely did not actually RUB?

If you are going to put it directly on to hair, which I do not recommend, you should only lightly, very lightly, wipe it down the top of the hair, maybe once, at a push twice, lightly, with no actual rubbing!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/05/2012 23:45

She had a load of conditioner in her hair to do the wet/condition/comb treatment.
Then she was in the bath, soaked her hair and I stroked it down her hair. Then she rinsed in the shower.
But the next day I had to wash her hair again, but it was still matted, I washed it yet again with the childrens Tea Tree Headlice repellant shampoo (the nearest I have to a detox shampoo).
IIRC, I did use the Shampoo Bar on my hair when I bought it, and I found it made my hair very dry. (which was the opposite to what it claimed) I certainly didn't over use on me and I rinsed really well.
Which is probably why I relegated it to the cupboard .

Is that the one that's a 2in1? Sounds like it, Cos their bar conditioner is awful so I imagine the 2in1 would be too. The just shampoo bars are deeply cleansing but really no different to regular shampoo. I thought squeaky green was nice but not amazing, just useful if going away. The conditioner however just sits on your hair however much you rinse and leaves it oily but dry at the same time lol.

raininginbaltimore · 16/05/2012 07:16

You aren't supposed to rub the bar directly on the hair though. You are meant to lather in your hands then put that on hair.

MsOnatopp · 16/05/2012 09:50

Did you put it in her hair whilst other stuff (the conditioner) was in her hair too?

Sorry it still sounds like you have put way too much in her hair.

You only need one stroke, two at a push. That is a LOT of shampoo.
