Gaaaah, Lush Shampoo Bars

DD has waist length hair. Yesterday we were doing the condition and Nitty Gritty comb, then I rubbed her tresses with the Lush bar to wash out.
Her hair felt like it was coated -sticky, claggy, couldn't get a brush near it.
I had to send her to school in a plait (and a bad mood).
So tonight she showered and shampooed. Still feels coated.
Third wash with that childrens headlice repellant one to see if it will strip it out.

I'm tearing my own hair out while I'm trying not to pull hers Confused

I put it back in the cupboard and there it will remain in it's tin.
I might take it on holiday with me,as an emergency.
Thanks

when dniece (3) decided to use a whole large jar of vicks on her hair to make it nice and creamy and smell good (!!!) best advice I managed to find on MN in order to help dsis (who was poorly and not in the best place to be trying to de gunk her dd) was to use something like washing up liquid and/or to try white vinegar to try to strip the stuff out of her hair. could also sprinkle cornstarch (or talc at a pinch, taking care not to breathe it in!) on it if it is still greasy to absorb some of the grease.

Think you have to think beyond the realms of normal hair-safe washing stuff to be honest - if it is soooo greasy/coated then that is beyond what you would normally need from a shampoo and using regularly under normal conditions would be really bad for your hair.

Hence something like fairy liquid as it has got stuff in it to specifically to cut through the grease... or use something like baby oil to de-gunk it, then something to get rid of the baby oil...

Then when you've got it clean and degreased, you can wash and condition it normally (assuming you have something other than the lush bar to use again!) - but unfortunately you do need to think of it as a two step process - 1. de-gunking 2. returning hair to nice condition - as I don't think that treating it nicely will help much.

Alternatively/as well - does lush have a website that you can post questions on - they might know something that would strip it out!

good luck!

Do you live in a hard water area? I have tried the lush bars in my area and am trying not the giggle at the suggesting to rub in your hands and use the lather.

I could 'rub' it in my hands until kingdom come, but it woudl just go slimy. No matter how convenient I do not use the bars as they just plain do not work on thick hair in hard water.

Could you try rinsing with bottled water? It might foam and wash out with softer water.

I've got thick hair and live in hard water area and I use the karma lush shampoo bar and it's brilliant. Can't use liquid shampoo as irritates my head and this is best shampoo I've found. And I always use loads Blush

@quiet I havne't used the karma, though I use the cynthyia stout. and need loads...

though i got a big congrats from my haridresser today for having my hair in such good condition!

I used to work at lush when I was a student.

You can rub the shampoo bars on your hair - that's fine.

However, you've used Godiva I think, fro your description, which is a combined shampoo and conditioner. Did you condition as well? If not using a lot of that one will mean you've used a lot of conditioner.
