Small boobs...

AIBU to think that I could find a bra that is uplifting, but not wodged full of foam, which will be flattering on those of us who are not overendowed on the boobicular area?
At the moment it either looks like I'm completely flat chested, or have two bean bags shoved down there.

I am struggling to find a bra that's pretty and supportive. Any recommendations?

Please Update to say if you ever do find something suitable, ArtVandelay.

Okay, you are not going to like this but I ended up buying 2 34 c bras at H&M because there are no bras to fit me anywhere in the city and I need something. I would much rather pay 15 euros for 2 pretty bras that don't fit very well that 50 for one boring bra that doesn't fit very well. the H&M do fit small so it feels like a 32 passionata. At least now I can go to their website and order some 32 Ds because they do make them they just didn't have them in the store. I tried on a 32 C and it was mega small don't think I'd get into their 30 if they made one. The style is called push-up bra and its got very low gores - bit of a Calvin Klein sort of style. I think the fig leaves bras were for people with wider apart boobs. I'm pretty fed up with bras/tits right now but at least I'm wearing an underwired bra so we have acheived quite a lot really! Thanks MN bra ladies x x

ArtVandelay · 17/11/2012 12:17

Have I killed the thread by buying an ill fitting bra? Sorry :(

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/11/2012 12:22

Ha ha no of course not!

I think when it comes to sizing a lot of high street stores are just as erratic in bras as they are in clothes - I don't know about you but I always end up taking about 5 sizes in to the H&M fitting rooms. I suspect their bras are the same. What is important is that you know what you are looking for in a bra - it's not about the tag but about the fit and having tried on a few of theirs you think that in that particular style the 32D will be correct. That's good!!

I can't say for definite if they run small because they don't go anywhere near my size so I haven't tried them in years :)

And close together boobs are a little tricky - I have a pair myself and some bras just have too big a gap between the cups for me. You might like the Freya Lauren or Gossard do a Superboost which has an incredibly low middle - cheap here

LaVitaBellissima · 17/11/2012 12:54

Wow, this thread is a revelation! I measure 30 tightly under boobs and 36 loosely over my boobs what size should I try??

Am really excited about getting a new bra!! My boobs are the opposite Statisticallychallenged, quite a big gap, poss 2 inches between boobs, does that make a difference?

LaVitaBellissima · 17/11/2012 12:54

I am wearing an uncomfortable 34a at present and am a size 10

SorrelForbes · 17/11/2012 13:15

LaVita. I'd try a 30E. You may need a bigger cup in some styles though. I'm not surprised that your 34A is uncomfortable!

PrinceRogersNelson · 17/11/2012 13:19

Well I went to Debenhams yesterday and treated myself (all if £8!) to a new bra. Instead of 32 A, I am in a 30B. It isn't moving. I don't keep having to pull it down.

Wonderful.

It is hard finding bras in 30 back though.
I went to TKMaxx and there were no 30 at all. Is there a conspiracy to keep us all in uncomfortable bras?

SorrelForbes · 17/11/2012 13:23

It's pretty much impossible to find anything below a 32 in the high street (with the exception of Debenahms, JL and HoF who stock 'proper' brands like Freya) and I find it infuriating. I can't bear it in Top Shop, seeing all those size 6 girls picking up 36A bras to try on because a) that's all that's on the shelves and b) they truly believe that no one their size can be above a b cup!

lljkk · 17/11/2012 13:50

I measure min. 2.5 and max. 8cm between breasts. What measurements are other people?

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/11/2012 15:19

My min is literally zero - I don't have any flat section between them. They touch. Means I can produce a cracking cleavage though!

It does mean that my central gores sit slightly against breast tissue as it's unavoidable.

CelticPromise · 17/11/2012 17:36

Me too SC, no gap at all. My breasts are
bottom heavy too so plunges don't work for me. I like Freya balcony styles.

All my bras are too big now since I've lost weight. I'm very sad about the two Empreinte bras from R&P that haven't had nearly enough wear!

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/11/2012 17:42

Ditto CelticPromise, whilst I can get a good cleavage there aren't many plunges available in my size and it's not really appropriate for work! And I can fall out a bit due too although the Bravissimo Satine isn't too bad for that. But I just don't like a plunge bra under non-plunging necklines as they don't offer the same comfort and support for me - I don't remember it being a problem when I was a smaller size though.

I wear a lot of Freya balconies too.

CelticPromise · 17/11/2012 18:08

Yy I always fall out of them if I do any activity at all, even just walking. They look good when I put them on but they are no use at all! Might have a look at the Satine.

lljkk · 17/11/2012 18:59

Quick google to find out what a plunge bra, ugly!

To try to make cleavage out of my bosoms I'd end up looking monoboob & tiny in front. Boobspace would be narrower than my face.

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/11/2012 20:19

They make me look pear-shaped!

ArtVandelay · 17/11/2012 21:56

Hello again. Still nice and comfortable in my H&M bargains. Mum is visiting tomorrow and is bringing 2 30D she got in a uk dept store sale yesterday. I know ... Mum still trying to buy me underwear is wierd... But I think she is intrigued by all this measuring lark. She has been wearing a 36A since I can remember so I will make her measure herself and see what happens. She has medium/largish boobs so I think she's not wearing the right size by quite a bit. I think she thinks everyone should be wearing an A or a B unless they are Dolly Parton.

SorrelForbes · 17/11/2012 22:14

Ha , ha, I'm working on sorting my
Mum and her bras! Good luck Grin

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/11/2012 22:27

Good luck, I had the same with my mum.

If it helps, I posted a few links to pictures somewhere upthread (think I just numbered them) which are all ladies who are at least a D cup and have quite dainty bosoms. Finding a similar photo helped my mum "get" it.

LaVitaBellissima · 17/11/2012 22:59

Thanks Sorrell, I am off to find a 30E bra, will definitely check back in!!

Iamgiulietta · 17/11/2012 23:05

Am 32 underneath ( pulled tight) and 36 round boobs. Is that 32d? Only bra I have that fits is a primani balcony size 34 c,

SorrelForbes · 17/11/2012 23:07

Yep, try a 32D and possibly a 30DD and a 32DD.

Iamgiulietta · 17/11/2012 23:10

Great stuff, where would you recommend , I am on a budget Grin

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/11/2012 23:14

Best bet - hunt in the big department stores to work out your size in a few brands, then buy online. Amazon (honestly!) brastop and Leia (outlet section) do really nice quality bras for the same sort of price as you would pay in the supermarket.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 17/11/2012 23:27

Are nursing bras sized differently? I have been avidly following this thread and measured myself as 31 under, 35 over, and ordered tonnes of bras from fig leaves in 30/32 C to DD cups.

All of them were wrong as soon as I tried the band on - they all felt really, really loose in the band.

So I sent them all back, and discouraged, didn't buy any more. It occurred to me though that maybe nursing bras are softer and les tight?

So should I try again and just get normal bras and hoick boob out of cup to feed? (DD is 2)
