Help needed for low-key wedding

DH and I are finally going to tie the knot in August this year and we have just booked it. I have just ordered the dress I have linked to for me and I have three bridesmaids which is the tricky bit. I would either like them all to wear red or for my 15-year-old DSD to wear red and my DD, 3, and DN, 9, to wear white.

I cannot find anything I like for all of them and I need the help of the S&B gurus! Ideally each dress should not be more than £75 each. Can anyone please help me??? Or point me in the direction of some sites I might not have thought of?

And I need some closed toe, ivory comfortable heels from somewhere too if anyone knows anywhere I would appreciate it. I want to do all the shopping online as I am determined not to get stressed out by the wedding.

This is my dress (if I lose at least a stone before the wedding!!)

TK Maxx have a bridal section. Check on there

reddaisy · 06/05/2012 19:28

I will do that now Warm. I have just spotted another gorgeous bridesmaid dress but it only has it in DN's size and not DDs. Argh.

Wow, love that dress!

Should the bridesmades dresses be typically 'bridesmaidy' or just lovely dresses?

reddaisy · 06/05/2012 19:42

Thanks MrsLettuce, I had the dress in red for a party a couple of years ago and even though it isn't very inventive to wear the same dress in a different colour on your wedding day, I don't care!!

Lovely dresses would be fine with me, in fact something they can wear again would be great.

Just spotted this www.monsoon.co.uk/papillon-gold-jacquard-dress/invt/25803711/&bklist=icat,4,shop,bridal,girlbridesmaid

But it hasn't got my DDs size in stock so I might ring around a few places then DSD, 15, could wear something in pale gold to complement it? I am flexible with ideas, I just want everyone to feel and look good.

what about cherries for the younger two and red for the 15 y.o?

That ASOS dress is lovely!!! I have never ordered anything from there, what is the quality like?

I like the cherry one too, but probably not for the wedding.

Maybe this or this for the small bridesmaids

and this for your older DD? It's over budget but the dresses above are well under. It's hard to find something in red that isn't too sexy but would still be acceptable to a 15 year old, isn't it.

this is very slightly over budget but red and potentially suitable for all 3 girls

MrsLettuce · 06/05/2012 20:01

Oh many x posts

reddaisy · 06/05/2012 20:11

Ooh I love the DKNY ones MrsLettuce, do you think my DSD would kill me if I dressed her the same as my 3-year-old though???

I was just looking at this for DSD but I'm not sure if it will stand out enough and I can't decide if I love or hate the collar!!! What do you think?

y' know I think you need to sit down with the 15 year old and work out what's mutually acceptable in terms or style / length / colour etc. then take it from there with the smaller bridesmaids dresses. Also, I'd maybe put the budget for hers up to 100 / 125 and go cheaper on the little girls frocks. Would that be awful?

It'd probably save all sorts of hassle, stress and hurt feelings (if she's anything like I was at that age).

reddaisy · 06/05/2012 20:13

I like the Topshop one a lot, and pink is a great idea. Is it too short though??

OP posts:
reddaisy · 06/05/2012 20:15

I can be a bit flexible on the budget and I want her to feel happy and comfortable as I have been a bridesmaid in some awful (imo) dresses in my time. If I can do the little ones on less, then she can definitely have the spare cash spent on hers!

MrsLettuce · 06/05/2012 20:18

x posts again. I've no idea if that's be acceptable to her.

15 year olds are so damn unpredictable - she might think it's utterly cute to all be the same. She may hate the idea and sulk. In any case she'd certainly appreciate being seriously consulted. It's so easy to feel ugly, humiliated and treated like a baby at that age.

At the least I'd give her a choice of options but TBH I think letting her choose with stong guidance from you would be best. Dresses for the little ones that work with it can always be found.

MrsLettuce · 06/05/2012 20:18

and again with the x posts. Bear in mind that all the models will be at least 5' 6" if not a lot taller.

MadameChinLegs · 06/05/2012 20:20

I love the dress and am currently having a neb around for some suitable BM dresses but just wanted to ask, would you consider a coloured shoe? I love the idea of a pair of shoes in your colour scheme that isnt ivory.

MrsLettuce · 06/05/2012 20:21

Oh yes, coloured shoes for you would be wonderful. Quite agree.

reddaisy · 06/05/2012 20:21

Thanks MrsLettuce. I think I will narrow down some choices online and have a chat with her (she loves red as do I hence the red idea) and either order some for her to try on in a batch or go shopping (which I hate!). She is easygoing but I think something that complements the little ones outfit would be best rather than them being the same.

I will probably show her this thread to see what she thinks.

I love gorgeous dot com - sorry no link but check it out for pretty young girl dresses. If you can catch a sale even better.

MadameChinLegs · 06/05/2012 20:22

Oh, and would the 15yo be in women's sizes? Might find something more suitabl in the womens dept

TheHouseOnTheCorner · 06/05/2012 20:28

These are nice... www.inweddingdress.com/uk/style-fl079.html

reddaisy · 06/05/2012 20:29

MadameChinLegs - yes she is in women's sizes. But anything from an 8-12 depending on the shop! I would probably go with a 10 and take it from there.
