I feel the need to scrub!

If you like scratchy (like me), the best one I've found is Clinique Exfoliating Scrub. It's tingly menthol and like washing your face with broken glass. Lovely Grin

I'm like justabigdisco. I hate facial scrubs which turn out to be gel with a few wee ineffectual balls in it.

My budget-friendly recommendation would be St Ives Apricot Scrub

Its lovely and scratchy......takes off a good 4 layers of skin Wink.

Even more budget friendly is olive oil + sea salt. I do it occasionally and it's very effective - like sandblasting Grin.

Northey · 01/05/2012 15:40

Stupid question. When you say sea salt, do you mean the big crystals of salt?

Kellamity · 01/05/2012 15:41

St Ives has been my old faithful for years now but it's just a wee bit too abrasive now for my ageing face but I hear what you are saying about scratchy scrubs. I just need to tone it down a couple of steps from St Ives. I've just read some good reviews on the Body Shop's seaweed one.

If you want that sand paper in a liquid form for every day use and very budget then might I suggest Asda's facial scrub? It's lovely and scratchy but it's good for every day

I also like the Clinique one for a real-red-faced treat - but you have to use a good moisturiser after it

I once used one with she'll in it - it was nice but I felt like I'd had an acid peel!

Mrsrobertduvall · 01/05/2012 15:46

I recommend Dermalogica Daily Microexfoliant

BunnyLebowski · 01/05/2012 15:48

this Boots no7 one m.boots.com/mt/www.boots.com/en/No7-Total-Renewal-Micro-Dermabrasion-Exfoliator-75ml_21951/. I get it when I have £5 off voucher, lasts ages (as you only need a small blob) and is proper scrubby (you DO need to go gently at first). leaves my face as smooth as glass Grin

Northey · 01/05/2012 15:50

Thank you!

nickseasterchick · 01/05/2012 15:52

St ives apricot is on offer at tesco for £1.99 at the moment.

itdidntworkout · 01/05/2012 15:52

I second the exfoliating scrub by Clinique, it's fab. Not to be confused with their 7 day scrub.

eurochick · 01/05/2012 17:22

The Kiehls Microdermabrasion one is excellent. The best I have tried (and I have tried many!).

Northey · 01/05/2012 17:24

I once used an emery board on a patch of weird rough skin on my face. That's insanity dedication.

simbo · 01/05/2012 17:26

I like Clinique 7 day scrub. I've never found anythjng else to beat that tingle.

PoppyWearer · 01/05/2012 17:42

I've tried loads of pricey ones and always come back to St Ives.

DysonsAreForever · 01/05/2012 18:14

Clarins One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser with Orange Extract - gorgeous!

awaywego1 · 01/05/2012 18:27

The sanctuary brown sugar one is brill-really scratchy Grin

doormat · 01/05/2012 18:29

i use st ives too..but dont you find that spots come out...this is a dead cert 3 days after i use a scrub..acne is not a good look on a middle aged woman lol Grin

donteatthat · 01/05/2012 18:33

I second (or fifth, whatever!) St Ives - love it, a proper facial scrub!

Mombojombo · 01/05/2012 18:41

Origins Modern Friction is nice; also use Neutrogena Blackhead eliminating one occasionally. For extra scratchiness I never use on a wet face; just pure dry rasping for me!

brighthair · 01/05/2012 18:49

2nd dermalogica daily micro exfoliant
Or lush ocean salt

LordEmsworth · 01/05/2012 19:33

Second vote for Origins Modern Friction. Although I've pretty much switched to their peel pads - soooo easy - but you don't get the satisfaction of a good old scrub with those...

Krumbum · 02/05/2012 00:14

Soap and glory- scrub ya nose in it. Its all scrub no filler, gets right in there and you can use it as a mask too!

Trickle · 02/05/2012 00:27

I stand firmly by Angels on Bare Skin from Lush - been using it 15 years now Shock not very budget but more so than Clinique. I like that it's a medieval recipie - when I don't have it I use coconut oil and ground almond

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 02/05/2012 01:05

Angels onBare Skin here too, smells fabulous and leaves my sensitive skin smooth as anything.
