I dont mean things like "put white cotton gloves on at night to help your hand cream". We ALL know that one.

I shall start.

Peroxyl mouthwash is good for brightening up stained teeth. I use it twice daily till it runs out every couple of months.

Before you apply fake tan bleach your arm hair, it gives you a more realistic tan.

Ok, over to you!

My sister has a set of underwear that she puts on to be spray tanned in. She thinks tan lines look more realistic.

Krumbum · 30/04/2012 14:04

Bepanthan on lips, not sure if thats one everyone already knows though. I put it on at night and it's much more moisturising than any lip balm.

googietheegg · 30/04/2012 14:10

A credit card is the perfect implement for pushing back cuticles

squoosh · 30/04/2012 14:44

Use hair conditioner on your legs instead of any of the women's shaving foams. Give you a cleaner and closer shave.

reastie · 30/04/2012 15:08

I second squooshes tip - learnt that one years ago from gmtv and never looked back Grin

lololizzy · 30/04/2012 21:12

yep always used a cheapie hair conditioner for my legs

reastie · 30/04/2012 21:38

Yes lolo I have 'posh' conditioner for my head hair and the cheap stuff for my leg hair - hate using my nice stuff on my legs Blush Grin

nomoreminibreaks · 30/04/2012 22:13

My DH discovered that I took a travel sized bottle of conditioner on holiday for shaving and tried it himself. He now has his own bottle of Aussie miracle moist for shaving!

lololizzy · 30/04/2012 22:26

There is this 'stuff' that my dad uses (no, not for beauty - he's not that way!) He gets filthy hands from rebuilding old motorcycles. Anyway....he buys industrial sized tubs of this citrus smelling exfoliant hand cleaner which has incredibly fine but effective grains. I got him to decant some into a tub for me . And it's honestly the best body exfoliant I have ever used in my entire life. It's like having new skin. Will try and find out exact name.

HowAboutAHotCupOfShutTheHellUp · 30/04/2012 22:41

Lololizzy i think it's Swarfega you are referring to.

I'm going to buy some for my next self tan disaster!

JennyPiccolo · 30/04/2012 23:09

I use that yellow stuff at work! It's minging though, big 5 litre tub with mucky handprints on it and remnants of god knows what inside.

lololizzy · 01/05/2012 00:29

definitely not Swarfega. he uses that as well though!

lololizzy · 01/05/2012 00:30

whatever that yellow stuff is, it gives me brand new knees/elbows/ feet etc ...never felt so soft!

Any cream with a high Urea % rids arms and legs of keratosis pilaris (unsightly little bumps).

Bombarding a cold sore on the lips with really thick applications of lip balm helps it disappear faster. It stops a dryer crust forming which can repeatedly crack and thus take longer to heal. I have headed off threats of major cold sores every time by doing this. Apply especially thickly at night when nobody can really see it! I know Acyclovir can retard formation too but it doesn't always work in time and this is a good way of dealing with it.

Make sure you throw out the lipsalve afterwards though and keep fingers scrupulously cleaned after applying if you use a balm such as Carmex which is hand applied.

An Aspirin tablet worked into a paste with water then applied to early spots is what my make up artist friend sees models doing if a blemish pops up the night before a shoot. Otherwise Cetaphil is a very popular choice of cleanser/skin care.

Baby wipes make cheap and effective make up removers for anything but the most stubborn waterproof eye liners.

Help yourself to the disposable make up applicators stocked at beauty counters such as Clinique next time you try out their testers. I have some great eyeliner/eyeshadow applicators and mini lipbrushes plus mascara brushes that I got from these counters. If you are trying or buying, they don't mind you taking a few.

ok everyone knows that bicarbonate of soda is great for brushing teeth and as a cleaning product...nothing new there.
However this is how I get my teeth really squeaky clean... 1/ dental floss as normal (without bicarb) 2/ put a layer of bicarb over teeth 3/ floss AGAIN (it will be harder this time to get the thread in and you'll feel pressure, but pull it in and saw away!) - the second floss is what really removes an extra layer of grime you probably thought you'd removed but hadn't 3/ brush teeth thoroughly with brush coated in bicarb .
You should really notice the difference after, as the second floss 'pushes' the bicarb in all the gaps , with my teeth anyway, i can really see a much clearer definition between my teeth. The coated floss is what really does it...all about getting abrasion in between those pegs!

flatter eyebrows are more youthful than arched
agree regarding the peroxyl - found this out recently by accident. It's great stuff
powdering foundation only makes it last an extra hour, and an unpowdered, but blotted, base is more youthful (with cream blush too). Plus it's easier to touch up.
loads of cheapo milk powder in the bath makes for incredibly soft skin cos of the lactic acid.

lololizzy · 03/05/2012 23:41

i keep hearing about cat litter for an amazing detox bath!

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/05/2012 08:28

You can bath in epsom salts too.

Off to look at ambersill.

Atreegrowsinbrooklyn- where do you buy the high urea % cream, tried to google but no luck.

KellyKapowski · 04/05/2012 10:40

I think flexitol (the stuff for cracked heels) has a high urea content chocolatespiders

aftereight · 04/05/2012 11:12

chocolatespiders Eucerin cream from Boots has urea in (5% for face, 10% for body). Think Aldi also sell similar.

chocolatespiders · 04/05/2012 11:17

Thankyou both of you Smile

Pinot · 04/05/2012 14:43

Metanium (baby bum cream) is the mutts nuts for nuking cold sores. And spots.

Flexitol is amazing for cuticles too - really softens them and keeps them shallow and neat.

slug · 04/05/2012 15:58

A drop of vodka on cold sores will dry them out and help them to heal quickly. I got this from a professor of virology so it has the science seal of approval. Wink
