I dont mean things like "put white cotton gloves on at night to help your hand cream". We ALL know that one.

I shall start.

Peroxyl mouthwash is good for brightening up stained teeth. I use it twice daily till it runs out every couple of months.

Before you apply fake tan bleach your arm hair, it gives you a more realistic tan.

Ok, over to you!

chocolatespiders

I bought 10% urea cream for the feet and body for £1-99 in Aldi.

However chemists have it or can order it for you although it does cost a bit more.

Marking my place. I need all the help I can get atm.

ChablisLover · 04/05/2012 20:01

After putting face cream on rub excess on hands into elbows and knees. Keeps them
Soft and smooth

whackamole · 04/05/2012 23:12

Lemon juice swiped over a clean face seems to tone my skin and stop the grease coming through on my nose, much better than anything else I have ever used.

Also if you put some on cotton wool, then some sugar and massage into face it is a great exfoliant/mask. Leave it for a few mins to dry then rinse off. It might sting if you have any spots though!

cerealqueen · 05/05/2012 00:32

Compeed foot cream for your hands, sorts out cuticles, moisturises and exfoliates. Smells nice too.

puggirl · 05/05/2012 14:08

Seconding the flexitol cuticle and nail cream. I am a habitual cuticle picker. It's a truly disgusting habit and I have done it for years. I bite the skin too and it's either damaged and bleeding or dry and scabby, trying to heal up.
I was at the end of my tether a week ago and searched the net for recommended cuticle creams, the best one seemed only to be available online. Then i found a tube of flexitol in bathroom cupboard, brought ages ago and forgotten about. I have used it for a week and they are much improved and my nails also having a growth spurt and not peeling as much.
Result!

I love the Dirty Works exfoliating products from Sainsbury, followed by Bio Oil.... which is pricey but seems to last for ages and just feels so nice Smile

Hydromol ointment (eczema skin wax/cream stuff) is really good at getting rid of hard callouses. DD3 has pretty bad eczema so I always have to cream her at night - I wipe the excess off on my callouses (knees and ankles - can you tell I have children and spend a lot of time on the floor!). It got rid of them in days. It's not medicated just liquid paraffin & waxes and it's not prescription only either.

EauRouge · 05/05/2012 18:22

Salt and vegetable oil mixed together make a great body scrub, just rub it all over and then soak in the bath for a bit. It's really cheap too and you can add a couple of drops of essential oil if you want it to smell nice.

BalloonTwister · 05/05/2012 19:35

Anusol applied lightly under your eyes gets rid of bags, albeit only temporarily. Excellent for the morning after the night before though!

nothinglefttolose · 05/05/2012 19:59

Facial scrub applied to clean dry skin.. work it for approx 3 mins
Rinse off
You will find skin so soft
Slap on good dollop of mosturiser and in the am you will be glowing

monstertufts · 05/05/2012 21:45

Doublebase Gel. It's a moisturiser for eczema and the like, but I've found it makes a great facial moisturiser and make-up base. It's very moisturising (obviously), non-greasy, and the texture is similar to a Laura Mercier make-up base I used to use. I get it on prescription, but you can buy it at pharmacies.

TruthSweet · 05/05/2012 22:14

monstertufts - I use DD3's doublebase as it's so light and has a almost whipped like quality - not describing it well but it sinks in very quickly (it didn't work for DD3 and the bottles are HUGE so waste not want notWink).

ifancyashandy · 06/05/2012 09:11

How do you 'blot' foundation please? Do you mean with a tissue?

Pinot · 06/05/2012 12:16

ifancy - yeah, just press a tissue into your face. Don't rub, just press and move to the next area.

Gonna get me some doublebase!

monstertufts · 07/05/2012 14:53

I thought of some more ...

  1. Some people here mentioned using hair conditioner as a lubricant to shave their legs. I use baby oil for the same purpose (Johnsons or Superdrug are the best ones for this, I've found, and Boots own brand is rubbish). It doubles up as a body moisturiser so it was a useful multi-purpose addition to my gym bag in my pre-DC days.
  1. To mend a split nail, paint it with nail polish and while it's still wet, press a single layer of tissue (or, for a bit more strength, cut up a teabag and use that) onto the split, leave it until it's nearly dry, then paint it again. It lasts for a few days. Not that my nails are long enough to worry about splits since having children :)
FunnyLittleFrog · 07/05/2012 17:04

DH was advised by his barber to use baby lotion straight after shaving to get rid of shaving rash. Works.

Atreegrowsinbrooklyn · 10/05/2012 11:42

ChocolateSpider

Your GP can also prescribe a high % Urea cream for you. Seeing as the 13% plus creams can cost over £15 over the counter, the prescription cost represents a considerable saving.

The cracked heel creams do contain urea-check the ingredients for the percentage. You need at least 10% for it to be truly effective and I have had excellent results using foot creams on my body skin-arms and legs.

cumbria81 · 10/05/2012 11:54

I always shave my legs with cheap conditioner and put baby oil on afterwards - you get the smoothest legs ever. Eveyrone comments on it and thinks I get them done in a salon

gregssausageroll · 10/05/2012 13:26

Apparently sudocrem is a good primer for foundation.

Ryoko · 10/05/2012 16:30

Yes I still stand by the Sudocrem one but then I am pale.

Runny honey with sugar is the best face scrub.

why the hell would you want urea on your skin yuk!

AuntieMaggie · 10/05/2012 23:11

Interesting - has anyone actually tried sudocrem under foundation?
