Something for a funeral

Sad

I have no clue and am not remotely stylish.

I have a budget of maybe £150 - £200 - could go a bit more

I'm 5ft2 and size 12/14 with a big arse.

Oh and I'll need shoes too.

And a bag.

I wouldn't worry too much. It's a funeral not a wedding. In my experience people don't notive what you are wearing at a funeral unless it is entirely inappropriate.

Dress? Trousers? Suit?

Shoes wise a simple black court nothing to hight
Black sheer tights
Back bag
Simple gold / silver jewelery

hathorkicksass · 20/04/2012 20:30

That dress is lovely

Would it be too pathetic and needy to go to a local shop and ask them to fit me out?

Not at all! Where are you if you are near cheshire then i recommened the one on cheshire oaks, where you may pick one up well below the rrp.

Also you don't have to go for a jacket, if you prefer go less structure with maybe a waterfall cardie

I am sorry for you loss, is there anything practical that I can help with. If this is a church funeral then I would recommend something warm and make sure your bag is big enough to take tissues etc.

So sorry

hathorkicksass · 20/04/2012 20:37

Tahnks.

I will hit the shops tomorrow. I suppose I could get away with a top - have black trousers adn a black jacket. Dark brown suit as well.

What would you feel comfortable in?

If you are trousers and jumper girl then that is what you should stick with if you prefer something more formal or dressy (sorry but I remember really wanting to make the effort a my grannies funeral).

Funerals are never "good" but it is always better to feel comfortable and like yourself.

hathorkicksass · 20/04/2012 20:38

I want to make an effort.

But I've hundreds of miles to travel to get there and it'll be a nightmare for other reasons.

Fuck.

what about something like this as a top
you would need to try it on, as on me it looks lovely but low cut (gifted of knockers)
If trousers then I would go with a boot, churches can be very cold.

mummyinspain · 20/04/2012 20:42

were is it going to be? is there some one you could stay with locally?

I got changed in the toilets in a little chef for my best friends birthday having flown back, the staff where lovely when I asked and explained.

These things are terrible but the kindness of strangers may suprise you when you mention the word funeral

hathorkicksass · 20/04/2012 20:44

Oh I love that top!

Yeah - I'll be staying with my aunt. (It's my uncle's funeral)

My kids are all wanting to go. So I've something to get for two DDs - DD1 has a black skirt but i was thinking he loved her school uniform and he was so proud of her for getting into the school she's in so she might wear that.

Need to get something for DD2 though.

Sorry funeral not birthday stuip stuip me!

mummyinspain · 20/04/2012 20:47

how old?

What would they be comfortable in?

In my opinion as long as they are smart and there to say good by that would be more than acceptable.

hathorkicksass · 20/04/2012 20:49

DDs are 13 and 10 - DD1 is fine, she has a black mini skirt and a black and white blouse she can wear with a black cardi, DD2 is 10 but wears age 5 or 6 - M&S I think, or Next or somewhere should have something.

OP posts:
hathorkicksass · 20/04/2012 20:50

Not that anyone will care anyway.

OP posts:
mummyinspain · 20/04/2012 20:54

Children are fine in Darker colours, does not have to be black. Next and M&S will have something I am sure.

No one will care, but we don't do things becuase other people care, we do them because we care.
