And if so, where on earth do you buy their clothes?

She used to be dressed beautifully and now seems to live in ballet leotard and leggings with a North Face hoody over the lot. I'd really like to get her some summer clothes but I can't find anything I like.

She adores River Island and Tammy Girl @ BHS. We also shop at Tesco, Next, Asda and Debenhams, sometimes Matalan.

KristinaM · 12/04/2012 17:30

Hand m, zara

Vespers · 12/04/2012 17:32

Boden
Cyrillus
Rachel Riley (in the sale)

Amaris · 12/04/2012 17:33

Asda, Marks and Spencers, which she finds loads of good stuff in and she's fairly style conscious, Peacocks for basics, Next, same as everyone else really!

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 12/04/2012 17:33

Odd bits from Primark (skinny coloured jeans mainly) then Zara and H&M. I have to say this year she's mainly wearing her brothers old t-shirts because I've given up on girls summer tops - she's tall and skinny and I'm fed up with how short they come up on her.

Amaris · 12/04/2012 17:33

Oh and the occasional Joules or Boden thing that I know will last.

IAmRubyLennox · 12/04/2012 17:35

haven't seen that Rachel Riley stuff before, Vespers, it's gorgeous isn't it but definitely on the pricy side!

River Island does some very nice children's clothes although very pricey imo. (I don't pay £40 for my own jeans never mind DD no matter how rather lovely they were Sad)

ToryLovell · 12/04/2012 17:36

Same as those up above - she's v tall so in age 11 which is always tricky as the clothes are quite grown up iyswim, and as she goes to a dance class with much older girls, she wants to dress slutty like them.

AwkwardMaryHadAnEasterLamb · 12/04/2012 17:41

H&M and Zara mainly.

pinkpinkeverywhere · 12/04/2012 17:43

I like the clothes in Gap as they are still pretty and 'on trend' but not overtly grown up as I think she's too young to be wearing the same as 16 year olds. I also like H&M, Sainsburys, Joules and Boden. But it isn't as easy as when they're 4!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 12/04/2012 17:47

When my DD was that age it was Zara and H&M, some Boden bits, some Monsoon in the sale, Some Vertbaudet

wheredidiputit · 12/04/2012 18:15

Anywhere as long as they have adjustable waist.

cazza40 · 12/04/2012 19:07

Monsoon
Primark
Gap
White Face

Anywhere really ! Just love having a DD who loves clothes as much as me and she looks good in everything

MyleeneCrass · 12/04/2012 19:19

Fat face
Boden
Sainsburys
H &M

MrsBovary · 12/04/2012 19:51

Boden (though only a little)
Tulip and Nettle (lots, it really suits her)
Ilovegorgeous
Nordic Kids
Elias and Grace

GraduallyGoingInsane · 12/04/2012 20:51

H&M and Zara mostly. She has bits and pieces from Gap, M&S and Boden.

She craves Johnnie B, Jack Wills and Abercrombie like her big sisters, but luckily for me (and my wallet!) they hang off her.

Might have to check out River Island if they do kids stuff...she'll go wild for a 'grown up shop'!

D0oinMeCleanin · 12/04/2012 20:56

Most of these are so expensive Shock

My children roll in mud and make dens with soggy tree branches. I'm not sending them out is £45 light coloured dresses.

Luckily dd1 would probably actually kill me if I tried to dress her in most of these shops, although some of the Zara t-shirts are nice and Monsoon has some nice (affordable) sets.

River Island kids jeans for £40? Confused dd1 has a few pairs and they've never been more than £20. Are you sure you weren't looking in the adult section?

Francagoestohollywood · 12/04/2012 21:02

Zara
Sometimes OKAIDI
Petit Bateau
Nordic Kids
Independent shops on the sales (things like Imps and Elf, Bellerose, American Outfitters, etc)

Francagoestohollywood · 12/04/2012 21:03

Jeans rigorously from H&M.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 12/04/2012 21:05

I will put my two penneth in as though my dd1 is 6 (yesterday) she wears 8-9-10 yo clothes as she is tall. I have to say mostly she wears next/Gap/H&M/M&S occasionally boden and Monsoon BUT not new as I have a wiley car booting MIL who brings sackfuls of girls clothes home all summer and I pick up things on ebay and in charity shops. She has a much better wardrobe than mine Envy

Those brands tend to last well and so turn up in charity shops and bootsales. I get a heart attack when I go in actual shops and have to buy new clothes Uniforms coats pants etc. and see how much things cost! Why anyone buys all new childrens clothes (at least until they are old enough to be 'fashion aware' and get awkward) is beyond me.

pantaloons · 12/04/2012 21:06

John Lewis when the sale is on, if not Sainsburys, Tesco or H&M. She is also very tall and likes fashion so I do struggle to dress her as an 8 year old, iykwim. I have a thing about vest type tops because my children are fair skinned and even with sun cream I like to keep their shoulders covered, but I do find that this limits a lot of the sun dress choices.
