Do you have an 8-9 year old DD?

And if so, where on earth do you buy their clothes?

She used to be dressed beautifully and now seems to live in ballet leotard and leggings with a North Face hoody over the lot. I'd really like to get her some summer clothes but I can't find anything I like.

DD loves Primark boys t shirts and asda trackie bottoms ...does your daughter like to wear what she's got now?

bigmouthstrikesagain · 12/04/2012 21:09

I layer dd's sun dresses with t shirts or cardies to avoid bare shoulders.

Primark/Asda/Peacocks/New Look.
That's what my budget says she can have!

Francagoestohollywood · 12/04/2012 21:15

Dd isn't particularly bothered about what she wears, and hasn't a clue about brands etc. She also doesn't wear dresses or skirts as much as she liked to when she was younger.
It is me who likes clothes and me alone Blush, and find immense pleasure at buying her things I find nice.

DOoin I don't think so? TBH I was looking through the store window as I'm too poor, too old and too fat to feel comfortable inside, they looked child sized - pale beige and cream vertical striped jeans? Do River Island price in Euros? It's possible I saw that and not £'s.

dd is 6 but generaly 8 - 9 clothes mostly from
next
gap
peacocks
the odd fat face and h&M but both are slightly too slender for dd.

dd is loving the romatic type of look: flowery tops, hair bands etc, chinos, pumps or strappy sandles. shorts over leggins, t shirts and other layered looks

she also likes joggers t-shits flecces and hoodies mostly feom nike or adidas outlet.

Actually I think they do MrsD. Their tags often show Euros and £s.

Dd1 has some pale beige snakeskin print jeans from there and some bright blue skinny jeans and they were both £19 a pair.

Francagoestohollywood · 12/04/2012 21:29

I've just checked the website, jeans from River island cost from 15 to 20 pounds.

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 12/04/2012 21:30

Hmm Could have been these in which case I have no idea what it was I read off the price label although I'd swear it was £40, not £20. Smile

Abercrombie kids range is good. DD feels like she is on trend but actually is wearing very simple t shirts and hoodies that do wash really well. She has ex small Hollister bits too but fit is much less good, trailing sleeves and v baggy.

All her jeans are skinnies from mini Boden - the most reliable fit and adjustable waist. She does have some gorgeous colours including cobalt blue from a previous catalogue and this season's citrus - bright yellow.

She also wears bits from Zara and has recently prevailed on me to buy some pineapple tops which are bizarrely "in" at her school.

I do miss the days of Oilily, Pampolina and catamini though Sad

Also got DD a couple of bits of the DVF for gap kids range for this summer. I know opinions are mixed but I do think they are lovely and because of the bright colours not too little girly. She has worn the t shirt dresses over skinny jeans and had loads of compliments. Could be worth a look to see what is left, especially whilst 30% off is available.
