As above.

For sure. I am quite active too but tend to compensate the calorie burn by eating a lot. The babies have not helped although I would never change that. It's now time to take back control of my body and enjoy wearing nice things. I recon it's possible to atleast start looking less tubby before end of summer.

If the healthy advice is to lose 2 pounds a week in 7 weeks that is a whole stone. It is the long term (more than 2 weeks!) sticking to a diet that I struggle with.

56 pounds = 28 weeks = 6th October ish allowing for slips and slow weeks.

dexter73 · 30/03/2012 22:33

I didn't lose my baby weight until I stopped breastfeeding :(

megabored · 30/03/2012 22:36

I am so irritated with where my body is right now that I feel if I lost even 2 good kgs then I will have the will to continue. Like u I don't want to shed a lot suddenly only to put it back on again. My other vice is the bum on chair all day when I am at work. Well, that has been my excuse for bot doing exercise or finding time for it in past 3 or so years. I am going to start I suppose a eat smaller portions and more veggies thing with the 30 day shred tomorrow. Let's see where we get to by October, or even 7 weeks from now.

Dexter 73, I really want to try and lose before I start work as otherwise I wont do it. I work full time. There is not time in my day to be able to and I eat at my desk all day. Is it not even worth trying?

OP posts:
dexter73 · 30/03/2012 22:39

It's worth trying as you might lose weight while breastfeeding. It just didn't happen for me.

megabored · 30/03/2012 22:46

Was it the constant hunger that meant you kept on eating and eating? That seems to be the case on days with me. Also I am
Seriously thinking of calling it a day on the breastfeeding so that I can start shedig the weight. Is that being selfish? Blush

I really can't remember as my dd is now 15! I just remember that no weight shifted until I stopped (dd was 16 months) and then my periods started again and I lost weight. Totally up to you whether or not you stop breastfeeding. I would probably not have breastfed so long had I had another baby.

megabored · 30/03/2012 23:04

That's what I am thinking.did it for dc1 till 1.5 years but with second, I am hoping to stop sooner. What that is, I have not figured out yet as I don't want to feel guilty for giving him one IQ less! Hmm maybe it's 6 months. Or when we start weaning in 5 weeks or so...

Well, my smallest child is 2YO now...

For me, I went for the whole change:

  1. No alcohol
  2. Limited carbs
  3. Lots of fruit

Have had to cut back on the fruit Blush and have found that still, rather than sparkling, water and juice is better (makes you feel full without bloating)

Also, have taken up an exercise plan. At the moment, this consists of 10 minutes twice a day, which I feel I can manage.

Plus, have two 10 minute 'me' times (Evening really is just a shower and moisturise).

I had become stuck in a bit of a rut (glasses of wine every night, crisps or peanuts as snacks)

Small changes will work best.

blobtobetter · 31/03/2012 10:19

I work in an office so sit down all day too. Plus there always seems to be someone eating or a birthday!!

jellibelli · 31/03/2012 11:05

megabored and all others on the path to your 'New You', I urge you to get a tape measure and record your starting measurements, particularly if you are starting to exercise at all. I lost weight last year by diet and exercise and recorded my measurements and my weight. For the first while my weight didn't change but luckily I had taken the measurements and they did drop, enough for me to see a change in a couple of weeks and to hang in there (with The Shred) until the scales started falling. Now I am not too bothered by what the scales say, I am more bothered by my measurements.

latrucha · 31/03/2012 12:27

My Fitness Pal.

You put in what you are and what you want to be, how much exercise you do. It tells you how many calories and what it should be made up of (carbs protein etc).

I've been doing it for two weeks and I've not found it at all hard. I quite like it! I've lost roughly double what they said I would (I don't kno wif that f because I'm still bf my toddler though).

I had my first, 'You're looking well. Have you lost weight?' comment yesterday. Made me feel grand. Smile

DialsMavis · 31/03/2012 15:37

I think you have to work really hard to get enough protein when you are veggie. I have lost lots of weight since I started eating meat again, my body just needs lots of protein and not too many carbs. I know vegetarianism can be incredibly healthy but I was a lazy one for years and years

I am using my fitness pal and it's great. I have lost 2stone 4lb so far.

I too also don't lose a lb while BF Hmm

megabored · 31/03/2012 17:02

Jellybelly thank you for that. I will take measurements if arm circumference etc.

Latrucha, thank you for that inspiration. I h e done my 30 min shred level 2 today and walked about 2 miles and had a 'controlled' lunch (controlling the portions). Wearing the right clothes also helps. If I feel that I look reasonable in an outfit, it lifts my mood and I tend to eat less. So I am going to make a point of dressing up nicely everyday. I lorrrrve stylish clothes but it's hard I even take a shower before lunch wih a toddler and a baby at times. That's another thread though!

Dialsmavis, yes, you are right. My proteins come mainly from pulses and dairy. It's hard to do the dukan diet for example being a veggie.

Just downloaded he myfitnesspal on my phone and looking at he website now. It's great. Thank you.

It has worked so well for me. It has really helped me to see how huge my portion sizes were and how many calories I was eating and has helped me to get into more active habits

megabored · 31/03/2012 20:54

My problem is also portion sizes. This I think will really bring it home. Thank you. Now to get dh to help measure me! That's a task in itself. Grin
