Do younger women wear Moulded bras more?

MsNorbury · 29/03/2012 14:37

If they have tits, not fried eggs.
Chatting to younger colleague about it and she NEVER wears non moulded. I have a new moulded one that i am taking time to get used to but can see in the summer avoids nipple show.
She also thinks my wearing beige ones( i wear a lot of white) is MUY entertainante

I have just bought my first moulded bra. It is very lightly padded and actually is completely fab. I am 38 DD and any I'd tried on in the past make me look ludicrous like 2 half footballs strapped to my chest. But this is fab. I might even buy another.
Even more surprising it was from M & S whose underwear I have avoided like the plague for years.

"Even more surprising it was from M & S whose underwear I have avoided like the plague for years."

I always buy my bras there because they are the only shop that sell bras that are a good fit for my boyish shape.

jamaisjedors · 31/03/2012 15:11

I have the same one as pluckingupcourage (Calvin Klein seductive comfort). It is v. comfy, and flattering AND doesn't show under clothes (I have black and will be getting beige.

And yes, the only bras I wear now are moulded (teacher paranoia).

I think white is good for summer if the straps are going to show a bit, beige straps look horrible if they show a bit.

AllPastYears · 31/03/2012 15:46

Definite fan of moulded bras here, in fact I just bought another one - when I got dressed the other day I'd run out of moulded bras, so I put a lacy one on, and it's very pretty and all that, but when I'd put my tightish jumper on you could see lacy lumps on my chest. Hate that!

I used to wear just thin material bras in my youth, but I was flatter-chested then, and my nipples only stuck out when it was really cold - now they stick out all the time, and I hate that too! I don't think moulded bras were around much then anyway - I wonder what lumpy-nippled women did then?

QED · 31/03/2012 15:56

Am wondering if there is a whole section of bras I didn't know about. Are moulded ones the sort where if you took the bra off it would look like it still had breasts in it?

Bunbaker · 31/03/2012 16:41

I understand them to be lightly padded and still hold their shape. They are boon for women with modest measurements.

whackamole · 31/03/2012 16:50

I never wear moulded bras. They just don't suit my boob shape and look pointy.

For reference I am 29 and 34GG. My favourite (as in most comfy and goes with practically everything) is a nude Fantasie smoothing balconette bra. I only really wear balconettes.

QED · 31/03/2012 16:52

I am a 30c and quite happy in my not moulded bras :) But always happy to try new things.

KatieMiddleton · 31/03/2012 17:00

Moulded for every day. Usually beige so it doesn't show but also black. I no longer wear white underwear ever. Just doesn't look nice. Even on my wedding day when I was 25 I had nude, moulded strapless bra and gorgeous white DKNY undercrackers with a little bit of blue.

I have some lovely lacey efforts with matching knickers that come out when I can be arsed and can do a delicate wash with the longer drying.

Am a younger woman just about at 30 and largish of nork at 32E.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 31/03/2012 17:20

45 and worn moulded exclusively apart from sports bras for the last 5 years or so, I like the smooth outline. Mine are M&S too, thin as I don't need padding, they are soft enough to mould to my shape not the other way round.

higgle · 31/03/2012 17:28

I really hate moulded bras, they are hot inside, look unnatural and my DH thinks they are horrid feeling when he just wants a little titty cuddle.

MsNorbury · 31/03/2012 17:37

Ew ww GROSS "titty cuddle"?!

TerrierMalpropre · 31/03/2012 17:45

I never wore them when I was younger but after breastfeeding three kids I daren't go out of the house without a moulded bra (and I'm a teeny 34B). The shape just isn't right without one. I do occasionally mourn the little lace balconnets I used to wear as a twenty-something though, along with many other aspects of my youth Smile

bronze · 31/03/2012 17:48

titty cuddle

did you really just say that?

Bunbaker · 31/03/2012 18:07

"I really hate moulded bras, they are hot inside"

I don't find that the case.

MrsDonaldDraper · 31/03/2012 18:34

Titty cuddle?

25 and always wear moulded. always. 32B though so tiny boobs and need the boost!

TheDetective · 01/04/2012 00:36

What the hell is the difference between moulded and non moulded bras?! I wear underwired. Always.

I didn't think there was another thing to bras, other than wired or not!

Oh dear!

startail · 01/04/2012 00:58

moulded in winter unmoulded in Summer, if I can get one without lace, they are cooler. (and my nipples stay flat when I'm warm).

I live in tight long sleeved T's in winter, and being small of boob, moulded gives shape and warmth.

Summer tops with short sleeves (I burn) and cotton dresses tend to be looser fitting. Nice cool un padded bras are a pain to find. I still have some reasonably tight things and I hate the lumpy visible lace look. Underwear is private, bra straps too! I'm 44 I was taught that underwear, went under your clothes!

CointreauVersial · 01/04/2012 00:59

By "moulded" I assume you mean those smooth domed T-shirt bras?

I hate them. I don't like the torpedo tits look.

And I really hate nude bras; they are ucking fugly. I'm not ready to go for function over appearance just yet, even at the ripe old age of 45.

LittlebearH · 01/04/2012 01:11

Oh for fuck sake. I have to wear gel bras as I am flat chested. AA cup with a size 14 bum half. (not that anyone knows) Your poor lot that have nipples that stick out or are large breasted dont have a clue. I am reduced to tears buying underwear. Yes I get the back problems etc. But at least you are womanly.

My best friend is a H cup and she sypathises more with me.

I look totally flat or with padding something out the 50's with padding that shows through.

LittlebearH · 01/04/2012 01:14

and that includes the stupid moulded cups that show through t shirts.

noddyholder · 01/04/2012 08:35

Was looking at them yesterday but they are too big and cumbersome looking! Bought 4 new though autograph m and s balcony style just looked less workwear to me! Can I also recommend the marks Lacey stay up knickers brilliant things
