Need a handbag, have up to about £400 to splurge, any ideas?

I've saved for ages and my bags are all cheap and falling apart. I'd love most of the bags from Mulberry but they're out of my price range. Any ideas? Just a decent sized handbag, I like strong colours but I'm not too fussed. Not for work, just for shopping, the odd restaurant, day out etc.

warmandwooly How can something be authenticated on ebay? I'm nervous about buying off ebay in case I end up spending hundreds of pounds on a fake.

Ebay are very tight when you list certain brands and will remove your listing if they suspect it is a fake. That applies to the 'inspired by' weasel words, too. Some brands take their reputation very seriously and put a lot of legal pressure on ebay.

msrisotto I have the Peony and moore mariella in pink, but i've got to say I am loving the snake print one just come out...to flippin die for... but I'm an animal print freak, love leopard print too.. the Mulberry evelina comes in leopard - have drooled instore but well over £1000...so simply drooled!

My mum got a lovely Anya Hindmarch bag at Bicester. She doesn't mind if its not the current season, if she likes it, she'll buy it. I got a good one from Prada a couple of years back. It's a bit big but I can get kids stuff in as well without ruining the line.

They are tricky to get hold of in UK. There are a few online sellers in Germany. I must email them again and tell them they have to start selling direct to UK. They are truly fab bags. I compared the quality with Mulberry bags in Zurich last winter, and Liebeskind won hands down, despite being less than half the price.

MmeLindor, I love the German bags you linked to, but I can't find the prices. Can you order online?

I'd second looking for a bag on eBay and getting it authenticated on the appropriate thread on the Mulberry section of The Purse Forum. If you are near to Bath go to the Peony and Moore Pop Up shop - there for another week - - they have bags on display that are new and not on the website yet - - I drooled over two new ones today
