I've always been very feminine - I just love fashion, cosmetics, perfumes, etc.

puff · 03/02/2006 14:26

hear hear expat

Twiglett · 03/02/2006 14:26

I picked up a fashion magazine whilst in a waiting room yesterday (think it was call Style?)

Anyway there was a nice coat in it .. under a heading of affordable fashion

it was £1,450 by moschino (sp??)

but ... affordable??

Because otherwise I fear the invisibility of frumpdom

expatinscotland · 03/02/2006 14:28

picked up my copy of 'in style' today - it's the best of beauty buys, my FAV edition of the year.

Twiglett · 03/02/2006 14:30

Is there a moschino coat in it .. kind of looks tweedy patchwork .. 3/4 length and nipped in waist

OP posts:
puff · 03/02/2006 14:30

Only if you weigh nearly 19 stone twig!

Twiglett · 03/02/2006 14:32

not quite .. but heading there

still I'm tall .. I can carry it .. snurk

actually just worked out that in the magazine it wasn't affordable fashion title but was from 'Moschnio Cheap and Chic' range .. who they trying to kid?

I didn't have gypsy skirt either so who was the other woman in Cheshire without one?

Agree with serenity, like nice clothes but avoid obvious "fashion" - looks a bit silly after a certain age to look like you're being dictated to.

SorenLorensen · 03/02/2006 16:41

Troutpout, Tinker

iota · 03/02/2006 16:42

I used to follow fashion in my youth, but I appear to have grown out of it

serenity · 03/02/2006 16:46

I have to say that I don't think I look frumpy, I just don't do fashion. At least I don't think I do, I don't read womens magazines so as far as I know I could be at the cutting edge

Everyone seems to be wearing incredibly pointy, high heeled boots atm. Now, I tortured my feet in boots like that as a teenager when everyone else was wearing big clompy shoes (with grolsch bottle caps iirc!) and now I'm all old and decrepid I can't be bothered putting my feet through that again.

So tell me MN fashionistas, what is the 'in' look this season?

SorenLorensen · 03/02/2006 16:49

No, I'm with you on the pointy boot thing. I walked behind a woman today who was literally tottering along on a pair of stiletto heeled, pointy toed boots. And the tips of the heels were all scuffed which is never a good look. I love shoes and boots but they have to be comfy (I was wearing my lovely long black DocMartens boots and felt very sensible).

serenity · 03/02/2006 16:51

Oh ditto, my winter boots are a pair of suede DM's (warm, comfortable, and easy to run in)

mykidsmum · 03/02/2006 16:56

I love fashion, but am very much a believer that if you have a good stylish haircut then you can practically get away with any style and pass it off as fashion. I'm considered by others to be quite stylish but don't up date my wardrobe that often i just wear my clothes with belief and noone is brave enought to tell me I look a tw*t!!

puddle · 03/02/2006 17:05

Serenity ..coming soon to a shop near you

  • White - lace and frills
  • stripes and polka dots in red blue and white - minnie mouse chic
  • Golds, mustards and beiges
  • More pencil skirts and tulip skirts still in (says she smugly who has had hers for almost a year now).
  • shorts still in, also white drainpipes (never for me in a million years)

ballet pumps still good, plus wedges and flat sandals for summer.

I love fashion - but for me this is as much about getting old things out of the cupboard and wearing in a new way as buying new things.

harpsichordcarrier · 03/02/2006 17:11

i agree it's weird
i think i am just a restless sort of person
short attention span
NEW THINGS NEW THINGS
i don't wear fashionable things necessarily but i like to see the new stock
was caressing the new sandals today
[yep shallow]

quickbrownfox · 03/02/2006 17:12

i love the new glam puff

i love puff relaly.

serenity · 03/02/2006 17:25

Good grief, are you serious puddle? Errr, no I don't think I'll be touching any of that, thanks. Maybe the flat sandals?

White? Oh god, I'm going to spend the summer 'thong spotting' again. I'm not sure what's worse, walking behind someone and seeing their pants or walking behind someone and knowing you're just looking at naked bum! You try so hard not to look, but it's like car crash clothing.

puff · 03/02/2006 19:03
