I wear these for work, and I'm on my feet for 10 hours a day. They look acceptable with straight leg trousers, boot cuts and knee length skirts and flared skirts.

I used to wear high heels every day - god knows how I ever did it.

lololizzy · 17/03/2012 22:08

i manage a charity shop and we have Gabor shoes donated regularly, by grannies. They are snapped up...by grannies. Lovely quality and all...but frumpy is frumpy.

deviladvocate · 17/03/2012 22:37

I like these I had a nightmare finding long boots this year, found a fantastic pair in ecco

deviladvocate · 17/03/2012 22:54

GwendolineMaryLacey · 17/03/2012 22:56

faustina I can't find fitflop ballet flats. Where have you seen them?

TuftyFinch · 17/03/2012 23:09

They. Do. Look. Like. Grandma shoes. How about Camper?

Camper

drywhiteplease · 17/03/2012 23:50

I have not managed to ring flit flop ballerinas either gwen
lololizzy excellent comment, Gabor is definitely a granny brand as I suspected!

I need (eek) sensible, comfortable shoes

Well they certainly are sensible, and probably comfortable but even so, they are still horrid.

It all depends, you see. how old are you, and exactly how difficult are your feet? I am almost 46 and I have very difficult to please feet but even I would draw the line at those and I've worn some comfy but grim shoes in my time.

If you are under 60 and not in immediate need of bunion surgery then I'd think twice. I doesn't need to get that bad just yet.

Incidentally, I have some Gabor sandals which I LOVE. Very comfy and really quite pleasant to look at, providing you are not under 35.

wellwisher · 18/03/2012 08:41

Old lady!

I would really like some shoes with leather otters on though. If anyone sees any, do PM me Grin

faustina · 18/03/2012 09:28

GwendolineMaryLacey - they are eye-wateringly expensive though:

Fitflop ballet flats

AutumnWitch · 18/03/2012 11:02

Have you checked out (whispers) next ? I got these and the first wear was to dance all evening at a ceilidh. Very comfortable.

polyhymnia · 18/03/2012 11:43

I wouldn't wear Gabor - would just feel frumpy in them - perhaps because I am no doubt in their target age group!
Of the 'comfy' brands,I loathe Hotter but have several pairs of shoes from Geox which are comfortable and stylish. The best have a sort of 'Euro casual' look. Like any brand you have to pick and choose as there are some frumpier styles.

Do find my Pretty Ballerinas comfortable but haven't really subjected them to all day walking or standing.

Have been fancying those Fitflop ballerinas but they are v pricy - tho Fitflop can often be found with reductions as the season goes on.

higgle · 18/03/2012 12:07

FanyPriceless - I've got feet like that too - what really pisses me off is seeing all sorts of posh ladies, royals etc. who are as old as me wearing LK Bennet & Laboutin beels and looking fabbie and me not being able to wear anything like that except very occasionaly a pair of Autograph heels with Insolia. They are not really that nice but Moshulu shoes are made of lovely leather and very comfy and some styles not as frumpy as the other comfortable makes.

BettyBathroom · 18/03/2012 12:07

Eek I have Gabor pumps, I bought them because they looked nice and thought they would be comfy - unfortunately they hurt my toes and give me blisters - I wasn't too bothered about the brand.

drywhiteplease · 18/03/2012 12:46

Well I have plenty of options now! Hate hate hate "sensible" shoes....I have to admit I have worn shoes that have crippled me in the past all in the name of fashion and it was worth it because they looked fab ( I am the daughter of glam 1960s airline worker who tells me stories of wearing uniform stilettos for whole days standing!)....

FannyPriceless · 18/03/2012 12:54

Agree drywhite - thanks to everyone for suggesting lots of options. I have bookmarked lots of links and will do a good trawl for some not-so-granny shoes later!Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 18/03/2012 14:15

As well as Camper, how about Fly London? Blissfully comfy from the get go, and no blisters (but I did have to size up).

GwendolineMaryLacey · 18/03/2012 15:40

two hundred pounds??? Bugger me Shock

higgle · 18/03/2012 17:07

The fitflop gladiator sandals are lovely, but they; were £250!!!!

dingdong3 · 18/03/2012 17:34

drywhite I want the scoop on what you buy for the blog! Grin

anniewoo · 18/03/2012 20:58

Fitflop ballet pumps are ludicrously expensive.Sad and i love my fitflop boots

drywhiteplease · 18/03/2012 21:18
