that a load of us got in the sales? well, i'm going to wear it to a wedding at the weekend and have just realised i have no shoes to go with it or anything to go over the top.

was thinking nude shoes? although the model in the picture has black ones (it's the brown dress) but have no clue about what to cover up with.

oh, and accessories too, don't have a clue either.

please help!

Nude shoes only if bare legs or pale tights otherwise dark shoes

carrotsandcelery · 05/03/2012 19:12

I think you could only cover up with some sort of wrap or the shape of the dress on the shoulder will be ruined.

I would wear nude shoes and pale tights/bare legs or brown shoes. I am not mad about black and brown so wouldn't wear a brown dress with black shoes ikywim.

Close up are the birds blue? Could you wear blue shoes? There seem to be a lot about.

NanBullen · 05/03/2012 19:13

hmmm, i have black shoes so should i go with purple tights like the model wears or will that look a bit odd? and a black shrug?

really should have thought about all this sooner!

Nan I wouldn't base your outfit on my quirks though. Wait and see what the style gurus have to say. Hopefully this will bump them into action.

carrotsandcelery · 05/03/2012 19:56

I have no idea about your foot shape, taste, budget etc but these were recommended to me last week by toboldlygo for a wedding I had at the weekend and they were incredibly comfortable despite the height. They were only £15 too which was a bonus.

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 05/03/2012 20:07

I wear mine with brown shoe boots but there is a pink and a turquoise colour on the birds so a pair of suede courts would be good.

NanBullen · 05/03/2012 20:14

oh those shoes are lovely carrotsandcelery thanks! i was just thinking of black shoes because i already have them and so am just being stingy!

so a nude/cream coloured wrap? shrug?

I get cold easily, so I am looking for a light blue or coral cardigan, would have to be fitted and really long, about the same length of the dress. Have a great time at the wedding!

carrotsandcelery · 05/03/2012 20:50

I can't take the credit Nan - it was toboldlygo who found them.

openerofjars · 05/03/2012 21:13

Okay, now then.

This dress.

It looks bloody brilliant on the website: is it all that? Only I am 6mo pg and can't try it on for another age, but but but it is so cheap and covered in lovely birds and ooooooooo. Want.

Worth taking a wee risk?

NanBullen · 05/03/2012 21:34

definitely openerofjars !!! it's absolutely gorgeous and pretty and you will look lovely in it 2 weeks after the birth promise Grin

openerofjars · 05/03/2012 22:16

I am jealous of it, though: at least it has a waist...

Grin

Thanks for the encouragement like I need an excuse and I will hide it from DH until it fits in case he thinks I've lost my mind.

openerofjars · 05/03/2012 22:41

Oh bollocks, I appear to have inadvertently bought a dress.

Damn you, Mumsnet!

It is a gorgeous dress though jars so clearly entirely justified. Grin

NanBullen · 06/03/2012 12:36

so i think i have a cream pashmina thing, that would do as a cover up wouldn't it? or would i look like an auld granny?

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 06/03/2012 13:12

Are you good at wearing them Nan? Worn well they look very elegant imo. I am rubbish at it and struggle with the glass of champagne, clutch bag, handshake business and watch the elegant ladies with Envy

NanBullen · 06/03/2012 17:59

no i'm not much good at wearing them tbh, i just fling them round my shoulders like a shawl. I take it there is a more glamourous way to wear them then? Blush

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 06/03/2012 20:27

Nan I think flung round like a shawl is the idea outside, especially at this time of year. Inside there seems to be a way of draping them across your back and over your elbows.

Personally I would probably end up clamping it between my knees as I dropped my bag and spilt my champagne Blush

Bewildermum · 06/03/2012 21:29

Hello, I wore mine (same colour as yours) to a wedding last July with nude tights and brown shoes and a brown (fake) pashmina (and a flower clip in my hair).

..but felt even better at Christmas when I copied the model and wore it with dark purple tights and black heels (plus thin purple necklace, and purple and gold bangles).

(p.s. Accessorize have loads of bird-themed necklaces at the moment: www.accessorize.com )

Love that dress! Have a lovely time :-)

NanBullen · 07/03/2012 19:48

thanks Grin

snowmummy · 07/03/2012 20:44

I wear mine with black heels and purple tights. Don't think I'd wear nude shoes to be honest. I think the colours in the dress are too strong but that might just be me!

BettyNoir · 07/03/2012 20:48

I know this sounds mad but I wore my roebuck dress with navy tights and red Rieker mary-jane shoes and it worked.

NanBullen · 08/03/2012 19:23

oh no! too many options! I've now got the shoes carrotsandcelery recommended, which are sooo comfy although very high!

hmm, now don't know what to do Confused

i need to get a grip, no one will care about my bloody shoes, i'm not the bride!
