I use the mally one and I do love it...definately my favourite. I got a murad one in a beauty box and that was lovely - bit like tinted moisturiser! The tesco barbera daly one is very good though and less than half the price of the mally one.

monkeysmama · 26/02/2012 20:57

What foundation do you use? I am using the Laura Mercier one for use with mineral foundation and it's excellent.

Thank you mrsmartin-hello again-just been looking at the mally one on QVC. Had never heard of mally until I saw a post here a few days ago.

I had a look at Barbara daly section in Tesco on sat but didn't see any products only make up.

Will take another look and then have a think as the mally one did have very good reviews. Guess I can also pay for it on easy pay as well?

Using mac at the min-hate it far too pigmented for me don't k ow why I went back to it (actually I do I was seduced by the counter in Harrods)

Think I may have used Laura mercier in the past -my sis used to work for them-can't remeber. Did try the BM-went to the counter in debenhams but I really didn't get on with it-my skin is too dry and flaky with the powder on (I am actually very oily)

just had a look at the qvc website...the original primer is out of stock atm and is on waitlist (not sure when due in). The glow version is in stock...same formula but it has a peachy tinge to it which does make your skin look super healthy. Not on easy pay though so you would need to pay the full whack. I LOVE mally...the woman herself is totally mental but most of her make up is fantastic...and it isn't difficult to recreate her masterpieces.

Check out her make up artistry here and her make up line here.

ObviouslyNot · 26/02/2012 21:51

thanks for that mrsmartin. unsure about the glow version, don't like lightening products (it's because I can't apply them properly!) but will have a look at the links now

Bare minerals make a lovely one. Very expensive though, so look on good old Ebay for a good price! It's called 'prime time'

ObviouslyNot · 26/02/2012 21:56

ha she is funny

I always worry that ebay make up is fake???

OP posts:
mrsmartin · 26/02/2012 21:58

love love love BE...not a fan of prime time though...I much prefer the velvet textures. obviously - you just whack the glow one on and it makes you look better straight away...no skill to it at all.

LanaJ · 26/02/2012 22:03

Yeah you have to be careful with Ebay but i've always had the real deal. I always look for boxed items on there!

mrsmartin · 26/02/2012 22:03

would warn you though...it has a shimmer (great under make up) but if you want one with no shimmer then I would probably get the original or try the tesco one (little clear pot with black lid).

mrsmartin · 26/02/2012 22:07

Mally is crazy (not as bad as laura gellar on qvc though...I often find myself wondering if that woman is on coke Shock when I watch her shows).

I always find buying from ebay pretty easy...if it is too good to be true and there are lots of people selling it then I assume it is fake (like my barginous fake opi cuticle oil pens) but usually if they are normal sellers you can see where they have split kits up etc. You are always protected by paypal though, which is great.

ObviouslyNot · 26/02/2012 22:11

argh honestly i'm so shit- can't believe i got to 35 winging putting make up on when i wear it every day. to rub salt in the wound my sister is a make up artist!

OP posts:
ObviouslyNot · 26/02/2012 22:13

yes true and I guess you would look at the feedback, and buy from UK seller (and as you say Lana buy boxed items)

will def try tescos tomorrow. thank you

OP posts:
mrsmartin · 26/02/2012 22:14

Hehe...I would just take it that you can't have been doing too badly then...Grin

Either that or your sister is reeeeaaaalllyyyy nice Blush

ObviouslyNot · 26/02/2012 22:16

ha! well the trouble is she lives in Manchester I live in London so she doesn't see how badly I do it most days!
(but she is lovely)

honestly...just tried to find the link to the worst presentation ever but think it has been removed from all known archives...she basically put on a beige lip primer (on the model) then a dark lipgloss over the top which half mixed with the primer on one side and then went over the model's lips on the other side...the poor girl looked like someone had chucked a jam doughnut at her mouth!!! Laura had been all over the place and sniffing constantly through the shows...it was tres embarassment!!!!

I think that is why there are so few video presentation links to the laura geller products on qvc uk...for three pages of product she has about 7 videos!!

ObviouslyNot · 26/02/2012 22:51

I know I've just tried to load a video from qvc site and my browser is saying it won't load (needs a plug-in) have given up but please do post if you find one WANT TO SEE!

OP posts:
mrsmartin · 26/02/2012 22:54

I think qvc got rid of it in a fit of shame...or perhaps under threat of lawsuit hehe Grin

What is primer for? Usually I just do the foundation after I've moisturised.
I could do with something to deal with open pores however. Would that be primer? And if so which one is good?

ObviouslyNot · 26/02/2012 23:27

yes primer would be good. I put it on under foundation and find it helps cover up pores (without clogging) and helps foundation stay on the day. I have very oily skin so primer is essential for me!

I have heard good things about mally and benefit pore minimiser but they are quite pricey so I'm going to have a look at the Barbara daly one in tesco this week. I have used chanel before and it was ok but quite pricey and I didn't like how you applied it (straight from the bottle bleugh I find that really unhygienic)

maybe some others can recommend some more

OP posts:
Selks · 26/02/2012 23:31

Hmm. Sounds like using primer might help my foundation to stay put longer than lunchtime too. Might have to get some. Is it easy to apply?
