Is it acceptable to go knickerless?

:) OK, it's a serious question!

I have my 40th birthday party next week.

This is what I'll be wearing, with leopard print shoes. Tis very flattering on, but I don't think I can wear any knickers with it! I tried on my thinnest microfibre ones today, but they are a short shape & showed slightly. I HATE thongs & think even the outline of one will show too. Tried a cycling-shorts style hold-in mega pair but think I will be so hot I'll end up ditching them half way through the evening! Plus DH said they didn't make enough of a difference to how the dress looked to warrant wearing them. So I ended up wearing no knickers whilst modelling it for DH. He of course thinks this is brilliant, but he would wouldn't he?

Is this acceptable or a big no-no? The dress is a decent length so that's not an issue, I dunno, it just doesn't feel quite right at my age Arrrgghh!

Yay or nay (in which case, solution please!)

Aren't you more likely to get the smell of Sweaty Minge if you wear just tights, rather than nothing at all? Confused All that nylon...

Ephiny · 25/02/2012 14:03

Oh maybe not as unforgiving as it looks then - and it sounds like you're in pretty good shape (tall and slim Envy), I'm sure you'll look fab.

I seem to remember M&S do those seamless 'no-VPL' knickers which might be worth a try, though I don't know how good they are. Wouldn't wear a tampon if you're not on your period, aren't you not supposed to do that because of risk of infection?

vonnyh · 25/02/2012 14:12

Go commando. It really is no big deal. And have a fab time!

brandysoakedbitch · 25/02/2012 14:21

I hardly ever where knickers - sometimes for hospital appointments and such but 98% of the time none at all. No problems with wee drips! and discharge....ffs!

And just to let you all know you can wear hold ups you know, tights are not the only choice (again I NEVER do tights as they are foul)

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 25/02/2012 14:23

You must do a lot of washing brandy Smile

I think I must have a very un-dischargy fanjo if there is such a thing (and never wear trousers so this is a factor I guess) - I think i might be turning into a very inappropriate middle aged lady.

Vaguely remembered anatomy alert I was under the impression that a fair amount of female secretions originate from the Bartholin's gland which lies exterior to the vagina, thus rendering tampon use in these circumstances somewhat pointless.

I'm with MrsSchadenfreude, do without and tell dh/dp halfway through the evening - guaranteed rudery later.
I stand to be corrected but as far I'm aware knickers as we understand them were only introduced in late Victorian times, until then it was crotchless all the way .....

I also wondered about the hygiene / discharge aspect but am pg ATM so have more than usual Blush. I'd prob wear the dress with a thong.

JudyPee · 04/12/2012 01:00

Eeeeeewww to all hygiene posts. Never mind all that a did you have a good time at yr party and b did DH Love it too???

( I realize I'm a bit late to this)

RyleDup · 04/12/2012 01:22

Oh I wish I was brave enough to go out with no knickers. But I know if I did, sods law would dictate I would fall over, legs akimbo..

RyleDup · 04/12/2012 01:23

Oh yes, very late to the party I just noticed. Hope you had a good night op, knickers or no knickers.

CQuin · 04/12/2012 05:58
