Namechanged Grin

One has been invited to the Queen's garden party at Balmoral this August. One is a dumpy apple shape, 5'3" with shapely but chunky legs and serious belly/overhang going on.

What does one wear to such an event, and more importantly what would suit one's unfortunate figure? One normally wears jeans.

I woulndt go over the top. Just a dress and hire/borrow a hat or buy from charity shop

The standard of dress will be much the same as at a posh wedding ie floral numbers from coAst

In 2005 We went to a black tie dinner at holyrood with members of the royal family. I was about 38 weeks pg and wore a black lace cocktail dress. I was SO worried i wouod be seriously under dressed.

In fact most of the well heeled Em'bra laydees wore long floral strappy summer dresses. The kind that were in fashion last summer for your beach holiday but were seriously OUT of fashion 6 years ago. I assumed they had been in their wardrobes since they bought them in laura ashley in 1980

You've all been really helpful (even you Chipping - I've scored that little number off my shortlist now Wink) and I feel a bit less daunted. And relieved that a bit of boob is ok. I rely on them to distract attention from the rest of me! Thank you :)
