Lost a stone but cellulite exactly the same. So p****d off

As the title says. So depressing. I've been exercising 5 days a week, varying from cardio like running/cross trainer, to toning classes like pump and the like.

So the weight has come off but I'm so annoyed to see virtually no improvement in the cellulite on the backs of my legs.

Feel like I shouldn't have bloody bothered as I'm going to look the same in my bikini as I did before. Waaa.

My cellulite sometimes looks worse when I am super slim! Even though I go to gym a lot.

The only way I can totally get rid is to body brush like a demon every single morning and give up my Pepsi Max addiction, I also find using Power Plate at gym helps.

mrsmartin · 21/02/2012 20:03

I second bodybrushing...I also use decleor prolagene gel to firm my skin.

JasperJohns · 21/02/2012 20:06

Don't you start Mrs Martin.

I find myself easily led to make rash purchase when you post Grin

berri · 21/02/2012 20:25

Does that declor work then? I tried the £40 biotherm a while ago and didn't see much difference.

I am going on hols in 2 weeks so not sure if bodybrushing would have time to work - might be better for me to stick with the v slight tan I have left on my legs....

Why why why do women get cellulite?! And why is mine so bad, I have a good diet, exercise a lot. Maybe it's the wine :)

body brushing will work pretty darn quickly. I use the prolagene for toning the skin - found it really good for the boobly skin on arms and thighs. but body brushing and drinking huge quantities of water are your best bet tbh...

MDM · 21/02/2012 20:31

Can anyone recommend a good body brush? Great topic btw!

berri · 21/02/2012 20:32

So I should lose what's left of the tan and start on the brushing?

Ok - 2 week challenge is on! Twice a day, or once? And cream afterwards, or are they all a waste of money?

Noooooooo! I was hoping that losing weight would rid me of the orange peel!

mrsmartin · 21/02/2012 20:55

I use this one for 5mins on each thigh after my morning shower...do it twice a day if you can. Totally depends on your skin (mine gets the pimply skin if I don't use my prolagene) but a bog standared moisturiser should help improve shin tone and texture.

mrsmartin · 21/02/2012 20:56

blob - you need to help break the fat up by body brushing - then it goes abit easier...

blobtobetter · 21/02/2012 21:01

Will buy a brush tomorrow!!

I am currently sat covered in some soap and glory toning gel - tingly and almost a burn. Hoping it works!

er1507 · 21/02/2012 21:02

investing in a body brush is def the way forward! no need for anything expensive could prob pick one up in super market or boots. do it while ur in the shower.

JasperJohns · 21/02/2012 21:25

I have the Elemis brush. I do it before am shower from my toes up.

It hurts a bit.

blobtobetter · 21/02/2012 21:32

I thought it was dry body brushing?

berri · 24/02/2012 02:59

Ok so have been dry body brushing then adding moisturiser for 2 days (so 4 times) and although it still looks the same, my skin feels LOADS smoother and softer, so after 2 weeks I reckon it might look a bit better too...we'll see!

White wine is said to cause contribute to cellulite because it's so carby. I can't remember where I read this but it was somewhere on the interwebs so it must be true. Red has magical slimming properties. FACT.

mrsmartin · 24/02/2012 04:43

Other weird and wonderful anti-cellulite ahem...facts?

The only one I know of is some people believe that rubbing coffee into their cellulite helps shift it - something to do with the caffine. That said - I swear I heard somehere that pure chocolate has almost as much caffine as coffee...think it would be a beautiful irony if rubbing chocolate into your thighs actually improved the appearance of cellulite...

mrsmartin · 24/02/2012 04:44

I've never drunk wine and I still have the lumpy stuff btw...Sad

I bought those lytess caffeine leggings and they worked if you need a short term fix for holidays or an event. Also used a body brush in the morning, body shop have a good one at under a tenner. Those vibrating plates things are also good if you do squats on them. I lost lots of weight for my sisters wedding and tried loads of things but these all worked better than others. Tried gels and creams but found them too sticky, and I think the action when you put them on does most of the work!

pluckingupcourage · 24/02/2012 06:32

I've got the elemis body brush and am going to start doing that today, just with a bog standard body moisturiser. Also I am going to see whether wearing support leggings/tights might help with it as if it is a lymph/circulation issue that might help?

body brushing definitely the answer. I have no visible cellulite when I do it and when I don't, the wobbly bits appear.
Just get the brush and sweep your body. Work your way UP. I do it in front of the tv for ten mins. Do it BEFORE getting into the shower.
HTH

HellonHeels · 24/02/2012 11:05

Does it have to be dry body brushing?

Would a good going over with my body shop natural bristle brush in the shower have the same effect?

mrsmartin · 24/02/2012 11:49

I find dry works best but it can be quite 'uncomfortable'. Brush towards the heart (you can body brush all over) and before any creams or lotions. I do mine at night before I go to bed bet really just fit it in where you can - it is good before a shower (esp if you favour shaving your legs) as your skin can generally stand the roughness more than when it has been warmed up and relaxed by the heat of the water.
