New bowl of crisps, tuck in Ruby!

I am thrilled at this Pixi lust. Another of their things wot I like is the cheek gel in natural. It doesn't stay on very long but while it does it's well pretty.

I felt a bit rubbish yesterday and spent much too long hunched over the computer looking at not very edifying things. Today is better. Have shredded, spot cleaned the stair carpet, written a letter to DD who will be at an outdoor pursuity place with school next week and am now going out to buy some fabric conditioner at Wilkos. When the mice are away the cat does rather boring things, it would seem Blush.

Hehe, Ruby, I KNEW it. Congratulations and I hope you have fun doing the training.

Dh recruited our local bikeability instructor as the singer for his band. She deffo doesn't do glam when she is working (I often see her and her band of cyclists from the middle school practising in the next road).

bigTillyMint · 16/03/2012 10:55

great job for the summer ruby - hope you have a flashyhelmet as a style and beauty queenSmile

BrrrrGrin You will need a s&b special thermal cycling outfitGrin

wilbur · 16/03/2012 12:20

Brilliant job, ruby! Dh will be well-jel (I too, can do teen slang, or is that TOWIE?) as he luurves his bike, at times a teeny bit more than he loves me - bike doesn't shout or require him to pick up groceries from the shops. Although it does seems to need servicing more regularly than I do... Hmm

Well done Ruby. Maybe in the winter you could do the hoodie-n-blazer thing. That would be very modish.

Inspired by a thread in S&B, I dug out my old Callanetics book, and did some bum squeezes last night. It really is remarkable - I can feel the difference already. There are also some pelvic 'scoops', which she promises will improve my sex life. Not sure I can be bothered with all that caper.

Being nagged again by sis to get DS assessed for being a super-brain, so I can choose an appropriate school. But can a two-year-old really be assessed? Can't I just wait to see how he is when he's six, and act accordingly then, if he's into string theory and quantum physics?

His latest thing is getting on the computer, finding the cbeebies website, and just surfing about, playing games. Or 'doing work', as he calls it.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 16/03/2012 12:36

Herbs, beware, he will soon be downloading dodgy gubbins and infecting your computer with viruses Grin. Actually, I'm not really joking. At that age, ds got into my email programme and did all sorts of ghastly things. I had wandered off for coffee, thinking he was safely busy on Cbeebies, but he got bored and started digging about doing all sorts of things I thought he couldn't possibly do.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 16/03/2012 12:43

And talk of feeling your muscles: the trainer at circuits has decided to up the ante somewhat and last night I didn't know whether the sweat was running into my eyes or I was actually crying. Both probably. When I got up off the mat after 15 mins of ab work, somewhat looked it and said "Forget your Tenas tonight did you?" Grin

herbaceous · 16/03/2012 12:49

When I return to the computer there are windows open all over the place that I don't understand.

There is a 'parental control' feature, but I can't understand how to work it. Maybe I'll ask DS.

bigTillyMint · 16/03/2012 13:00

Strops ShockGrin

Herbs, how old is he now?

herbaceous · 16/03/2012 14:06

He's three in July. Though I refuse to acknowledge this, and continue to say he's two-and-a-half.

He can now tell the time, to the nearest o'clock! He can name all the car brands that we see, and has been reading words like Sainsburys, Tesco and Abel & Cole for a few months. He's also remarkably observant, wondering about things in books that I hadn't even noticed. I think he's clever, but not outstandingly so.

Indeed, Ruby. He can read 'Sainsburys' in all sorts of colours, but if it was written on a bit of paper by hand I doubt he could! Maybe he'll be a brand consultant.

Interesting about your DD. Obviously a smart cookie too!

Envy at all these bright toddlers who speak, read and dress themselves. Not one of my children showed even a flicker of brilliance - I mostly got people putting their head sympathetically on one side and asking, sotto, "and how is [insert name of any one of my children here]'s speech coming?" And if it was MIL, she would add "Did I tell you dh was speaking in full sentences at 18 months?" thus neatly laying the blame at my genetic door. Having said that, ds2 was and is incredibly observant of people and confident in his dealings with them, but since he didn't even say Mummy until he was almost 3 he used to get very frustrated as people didn't respond to him.

And, yay, good weekend news is that dh has scored a 3 month contract with a v nice company (small and it's quite a pay cut, ouch, but it's a good job and suits him down to the ground) which will hopefully build his confidence and get him back on his feet, work-wise. Funnily enough, it's a job not a million miles away from ruby's new gig... Interestingly, a very senior person at his bastard old job just resigned and cited their maltreatment of dh as the final straw Grin. At least there's some satisfaction to be gained from that.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 16/03/2012 18:14

Well done Mr Wilbur. And that is really cheering about the support from the senior person at his old job. Restores one's faith in human nature.

CointreauVersial · 16/03/2012 18:21

Excellent news, Wilbur. As you say, that will be brilliant for his confidence, and give him a breather to find something more permanent.

I am feeling rough as a bear's arse at the moment. It was completely self-inflicted as a result of a brilliant work-night-out in Brighton with 30 colleagues, involving posh curry, casino, dancing and drinking (ohhhh yes). I finally crawled off to my hotel bed at 4am. All brilliantly organised by yours truly, but paid for by someone else, ha ha.

Never mind bikeability, I think I might look for a job as an event planner!

DukesOfTripHazard · 16/03/2012 18:37

Sorry are you talking? I've had my head down writing Grin

DH is going to see his mum for the weekend. He is worried the house will burn down without me knowing because the other night the heat sensor malfunctioned and went off setting off the burglar alarm and I slept through it all Blush

Stropps I am still smiling at 'potato with eyes'.

Herbs, don't listen to Ruby 's well argued argument
bet your ds is a genius Grin.

Great news for the Wilbur's

CV, your night out sounds lush, but my BFF is a top pocket event planner and the job is gruelling to say the least, especially at our age!

ruby, which raincoat is it you are lusting after? (have been looking on the L E site, not that I need any more coats....) Are you thinking to rationalise it as a work clothes purchase?Smile

oldqueenie · 16/03/2012 18:52

well done mr wilbur, that really is good news. you must be v v relieved wilbur. am really enjoying the tgif feeling here. ds1 has just finished a whole load of school exams and done extremely well and is rightly pretty pleased with himself, i am mning on sofa with laptop and a side order of crap telly. ds2 is amusing himself (quietly), no one is arguing. the dog is snoozing and dh is on his way home bearing takeaway... life is good!

ps have some pink gap jeans but haven't yet worked up the nerve to wear them.

wilbur · 16/03/2012 20:19

Link to pink Gap jeans please! I want some colour in my wardrobe.

oldqueenie · 16/03/2012 20:27

oldqueenie · 16/03/2012 20:35

the trousers look minging in that picture but with untucked in t shirt and decent shoes are rather fetching in rl
