BB Creams - any opinions?

Has anybody been tempted by their charms? I have the Clinique one and the Estee Lauder. I think as with most things the amount you use is critical. Taking some getting used to, but will stick with it for a while.

What's a BB cream????

sleepysox · 06/02/2012 15:11

I've tried No7, Garnier and No 17 so far.
The only one which hasn't blocked my pores is the No. 17. It looks good, feels good and my skin doesn't break out. Would highly recommend.

sleepysox · 06/02/2012 15:12

BB cream- cross between a tinted moisturiser, foundation and a primer. If you use a BB cream, you shouldn't need a foundation or primer.

Coverage= medium/ light. Plus they have skin improving ingredients like a serum does, and a good spf.

I really rate them.

pippibluestocking · 06/02/2012 15:14

Okay - thanks!

dexter73 · 06/02/2012 15:28

No.7 is good.

mashpot · 06/02/2012 15:29

I like the Estee Lauder, better than the Garnier.

BenderWilfer · 06/02/2012 15:55

I have the no.17 one and it definitely makes me look more alive. Great for everyday livening - no claggy feeling, hasn't irritated my skin, seems to stay put.

FreePeaceSweet · 06/02/2012 17:08

I have the Garnier one and I hate it. It feels so drying. It looks exactly like foundation. It looks good when it goes on but it doesn't feel good. I bought a light reflecting moisturiser for £2.99 from Superdrug and its excellent. I use that and a bit of mascara and lipgloss during the day. The Garnier makes me look heavily made up.

StellaAndFries · 06/02/2012 17:09

I've tried the garnier and No.17 one and I found the No.17 one much better, I wear it daily now.

MeltedChocolate · 06/02/2012 18:16

Just mix your moisturiser (that has an spf) with your foundation and it will go on beautifully :)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/02/2012 19:21

I'm quite liking the Garnier one, although the light is still a bit too dark. Tried the No 7 in store and it was VERY dark. Will have a look at the No 17.

DorothyGherkins · 06/02/2012 19:29

Do we know what the initials BB stand for - I m sitting her frowny faced trying to work out what it might stand for. I read sleepysox explanation of what it does, I just need to know why the BB.

MeltedChocolate · 06/02/2012 19:35

Blemish Balm

DorothyGherkins · 06/02/2012 21:23

Thanks Melted. Closest I came up with was Bour Bon Cream - but thats another thread, isnt it.

FreePeaceSweet · 06/02/2012 22:00

On the Garnier tube the BB stands for Beauty Balm.

Jaimelechocolat · 30/05/2012 13:25

Awful!

I've tried the Garnier BB (which in my house stands for bullshit balm). Greasy, clogged my pores and made my skin break out. Take about the emperor's new clothes. It is like the tinkers of old selling their miracle cures. I feel totally duped! It is definitely no miracle cream.

laptopwieldingharpy · 30/05/2012 13:36

there is a general consensus on every single board I checked that the GArnier one is total s*.

The Japanese/korean brands have been around for much longer and formulations are much much much better.

Pinkglow · 30/05/2012 14:22

I have tried two

The Garnier one I found far too orange and greasy and generally horrible. Didnt like the finish at all and a waste of £10

The Estee Lauder is a much better colour and has a nicer finish. It is surprisingly matt though and its not one to use if you want a dewy look IMO. However its good for hot days in the office when I dont want to wear a heavy foundation. Tinted moisturiser doesnt offer nearly enough coverage for me so a BB cream is a nice alternative

TheCountessOlenska · 30/05/2012 14:25

I tried a free sample of Garnier and found it too heavy/dry and the wrong colour - was kind of ok if I rubbed it in for a bit but then I found it didn't give enough coverage Confused

Anyway, I am much happier with a primer and my Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich.

SuperDuperJezebel · 30/05/2012 14:30

Am I the only person who finds the garnier one very drying? I have to be very careful to avoid lips and wash hands w toner afterwards otherwise I'm constantly moaning of dry hands and lips! Then again I am a bit obsessive about lip balm and handcream. Tried the Estée Lauder one but for the price I wasn't overwhelmed.

idobelieveinfairies · 30/05/2012 14:30

I have the l'Oreal one and really like it. I don't put moisturising cream on first though, when I was, my skin was looking old and greasy.

KateBeckett · 30/05/2012 14:32

Hmmm I've been thinking about a bb Cream for a while as I do t really like foundation. How are they for combination skin? I have a very greasy t zone and normal/slightly dry cheeks. Also quite prone to spots. Tbh I usually just wear a little concealer under my ees but would like the option of a bit more coverage - do you guys reckon a bb is the way to go? Any recommendations?

Sorry for the hijack op!!

BobbieSox · 30/05/2012 14:38

Not an ad for garnier but you can order a free sample of their bb cream on their website, mine came yesterday, haven't tried it yet though. After reading this thread am off to boots to see if I can sample the no 17 version...

wildfig · 30/05/2012 15:13

Garnier one made me look like an Oompah Loompah dipped in vegetable oil.

MonaLotte · 30/05/2012 16:37

I have ordered the Estée Lauder one. Do you just use it on its own with no moisturiser?
