I need a cut but am trying to get some length back.
But I don't have a style, it's a bob type thing which I don't love, I have random curls and it needs doing every day.
I feel I am going wrong somewhere, cannot wear short hair or else I look like a man.
Any advice ?

Mine is below shoulder length, with layers cut in, but would resist calling it a style! It just gets chucked up in a bobble when I shower and that's it's style for the rest of the day! Don't know how you find time to straighten/ bliwdry/ wash on a daily basis!

SilveryMoon · 29/01/2012 08:03

My hair sits just above my shoulders. It is dead straight but has that fly-away thing to it so I hate wearing it down.
I wear it in a tight ponytail every day and absolutely hate it! I'm trying to pluck up the courage to have a graduated bob cut, but the fear that it will just make me look really fat is stopping me.

alwaysrunninginheels · 29/01/2012 09:08

Mine is shoulder length and curly, with a fringe and layers. Also highlighted and I very little with it apart from using aveda curly products which make it look good rather than wild

BadPoet · 29/01/2012 09:42

Just longer than shoulder length, some layers (but too short and I don't like them), no fringe, side parting. It naturally has a wave but I can't get it to look presentable enough for work so during the week I wash it first thing, leave it while I dress/breakfast/sort kids then finish off with a blast from hairdryer (agree parlux are brilliant). That smooths it enough.

I used to fling it up in a bun with those spin pins quite a bit but the aggravating layers are too short just now, fall out and annoy me .

I wonder if I could do a sometimes smooth, sometimes tousled bob?

I realised the other day that when I don't blow dry mine it looks a like Frankie Cocozza's (sp?) birds nest Blush

I'm 30 - 2 DCs, part time job, part time masters student. My hair is an absolute mess. I have a (fairly harsh) fringe that my friend cut in for me a while back whilst also cutting my long hair into a bob. Hated it like that but now the hair is at shoulder length I am starting to like the fringe, and will persist with it. Would be nice to end up with something like this, I like having long layers - <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&biw=1366&bih=643&tbm=isch&tbnid=8zqY9EE5FaE-VM:&imgrefurl=hairstylesarea.com/2011/10/hairstyles-pictures-long-hairstyles-type-for-bangs-hair-for-women&docid=i1sfTKvfJukYIM&imgurl=hairstylesarea.com/hair-pic/HLIC/8c845f06a16f06acc4ab3303f94c2410.jpg&w=397&h=600&ei=NBYlT6HzOYPA8QO_rqzTBw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=553&vpy=256&dur=7020&hovh=276&hovw=183&tx=117&ty=204&sig=100251624576430398567&page=2&tbnh=146&tbnw=97&start=30&ndsp=35&ved=1t:429" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&biw=1366&bih=643&tbm=isch&tbnid=8zqY9EE5FaE-VM:&imgrefurl=hairstylesarea.com/2011/10/hairstyles-pictures-long-hairstyles-type-for-bangs-hair-for-women&docid=i1sfTKvfJukYIM&imgurl=hairstylesarea.com/hair-pic/HLIC/8c845f06a16f06acc4ab3303f94c2410.jpg&w=397&h=600&ei=NBYlT6HzOYPA8QO_rqzTBw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=553&vpy=256&dur=7020&hovh=276&hovw=183&tx=117&ty=204&sig=100251624576430398567&page=2&tbnh=146&tbnw=97&start=30&ndsp=35&ved=1t:429,r:12,s:30 but my hair is a state usually and I am like an unkept man in drag not very pretty, so the overall effect would be somewhat different.

Can someone tell me what a BBH is and what does one do with it? I am in desperate need of something to make my long layered hair look a but better.
Loving this thread.

MidnightinMoscow · 29/01/2012 10:43

This is the BBH pies. Takes a few attempts to get it right, but I have found it life changing. Smile

SunnyCarrie · 29/01/2012 12:47

I know what you mean. I have a bob that goes up at back and at front my hair almost is at my shoulders. I have straighteners that I use only after having a bath or shower once it is dried. I pre spray with heat style product from Aussie and once straightened stays fairly well put for a few days.

I also have Alice bands with a flower or bow on so if in a hurry I brush my hair back behind my ears, I have small fringe and wack a band on.

If I can do it with arthritis and general pants hands and arms in under one min then you should be away.

Hope that helps. x

Like Sarah Jessica Parker having a bad hair day.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 29/01/2012 12:57

I am mid 40s and I have just had a mad perm.

I look like a demented art teacher circ 1975.

So dont do that.

Jessicaalbastwin · 29/01/2012 13:51

Is the BBH good for long hair, also does it leave your hair frizzy with static in it, as it comes rolling upwards?

ItsOkItsJustMyBreath · 29/01/2012 13:54

Thanks for that mrsd, I am currently contemplating a perm, probably a throw back to my twenties when I had time to style it properly. I know it wouldn't work unfortunately so am left with my ponytail cut avec frizz...

gastrognome · 29/01/2012 15:18

Long (middle of back), straight, angled side parting.
Long hair has always been easiest for me - if no time to wash, can always tie it back and it looks fine. Easy to dry, straighteners useful for bad hair days.
Used to have a bob but it was too much hassle as had to get it cut too often to keep it looking nice. Plus my hair curls under naturally on one side, but curls outwards on the other side, unless hours are spent with a drier and hairbrush...

SardineQueen · 29/01/2012 15:35

Depends on what sort of hair you have surely?

I have wavy hair which goes a bit mad when it is shorter so I keep it long - halfway down back. It is reasonably thick and the weight smooths it out a bit.

Experience tells me that this is the easiest style for me as I am seriously lazy with hair!

What sort of hair do you have - maybe ask people with similar as they will know which styles are more high maintenence

FeathersMcGraw · 29/01/2012 15:47

short blonde crop here...

I have very thick hair with a random wave so if I leave it longer and to it's own devices it kinks out all over the place in no particular style. When it was longer I had to dry, straighten etc every day which took ages :(

I get it trimmed every 6-8 weeks now and I can give it a quick blast in the right direction with the drier, rub a bit of wax through it & 5 mins later done :)

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 29/01/2012 16:57

I am seriously considering going back to my very very short hair.
BUt I am old now and I dont want to look haggard.

Panzee · 29/01/2012 16:59

Long. Ponytail. Side fringe to try to liven it up a bit.
