Well think its about time that I starting buying clothes that make me look fab not shite. Been looking into it and colour me beautiful is half a day wheras my house of colour is 90 mins. Which in your expert opinion is best? How do they differ?

My non expert opinion, I think a personal recommendation is probably best.

I went to HOC and have found it really useful and clothes shopping takes a fraction of the time it used to as I can just go straight to the colours I know will work on me.
Not sure what CMB do; HOC woman used drapes / scarves next to my face to identify which range of colours tones suited me, I came out as a deep winter (i.e. black / white / bluish reds and deep, bright jewel colours suit me best and khaki / beigey/ warm colours make me look quite deathly).

I presume the outcome i.e. finding out which colours /tones suit you best will essentially be the same whether you go to CMB or HOC, whatever terminology they use e.g. seasons or warm /cool etc.

Thanks, just not sure why one would take 90 mins and the other half to a full day with only a tenner in the price difference!

Did HOC with a friend a couple of weeks ago. We both loved it and I am now so much more confident and braver about my colour choices.

It was a a half day, with lunch, and it felt like we had really got value for money. They did make-up as well which wasn't amazing tbh as it seemed to be selling their own make-up range and the colours were a bit scary!

LFP - I'm a Winter too Grin

leobeebs · 22/01/2012 12:47

Has anyone been to color me beautiful? My local lady for hoc looks abit scary!!

based on everything i've heard and read i'd def go to HoC and not CMB. Seem to be more accurate and maybe more up to date. their style day is fab too.

never heard of it only taking 90 mins tho - where did you see that? most seem to take at least half a day.

i had my colours and style done with HoC in the summer (I'm a bright spring, natural ingenue) and all of the others in our colour analysis fb group bar two were done by HoC too (one had previously been done by CMB incorrectly and the other had hers done via an online service)

CakeandRoses · 22/01/2012 12:57

where are you based btw? i may well know someone who's been done by your local HoC consultant

leobeebs · 22/01/2012 19:38

Im in southampton. Read the ninety minute thing on my local cmb consultants website.

I went to an independent image consultant during my weight loss (lost nearly 4 stone last year!) I found her details here:
www.tfic.org.uk/ I was very pleased with the analysis, I am deep, cool and clear, similar to what is known as a Winter I believe my CMB. Pale skin, dark eyes, dark hair.

I chose an independent as I felt that I may be put into a convenient "box" or off the-shelf-category by either CMB or HoC - I wanted something more personal to me.
TBH, I was very sceptical, but I receive so many compliments when I am wearing the right colours for me, that I have been converted!

As a Southamptonite, too, I'm watching with interest ............................

are you cleveryeverything newyear? i was just about to find you as i thought you were that way!

Chants73 · 22/01/2012 21:37

I went to a CMB consultant near-ish Marwell and she was fab. Had a joint session with a friend and it lasted about 2.5hours and included make up etc. Am much braver with mixing colours etc and it makes shopping much quicker as you instantly rule out loads of things.

Hi NYE! I'm slightly confused by your penultimate post: are you advocating HOC?

Many thanks for your clarification! I hope to use their services after my MASSIVE ebay clearout!

CakeandRoses · 22/01/2012 23:03

doglover i'd wait til after you've been 'done' before having your clearout as you'll need another one post-draping and then will be left with nothing! unless, there's stuff you know you'll never wear again regardless.

MrsJasonBourne · 22/01/2012 23:17

Thanks so much for this thread. I hadn't thought of ever doing this, but have just found a consultant near where I live and will be making the investment!

doglover · 22/01/2012 23:17

Good point, CAR. The only problem is that I need to have the clearout to afford the consultation!

ForwardOcho · 23/01/2012 18:22

I just got done with HoC today and about 70% of my wardrobe is off palette. Sad

doglover · 23/01/2012 20:45

Think about the fun you'll have, ForwardOcho, gradually restocking it!

TracyK · 23/01/2012 21:26

NYE I'm a leaf autumn too. Got done last week. You bought anything recently?
