Can we still wear boot cut jeans?

Just wondering really. Cannot wear skinny jeans, my upper thighs won't allow it! Is there a risk of mumsiness with boot cut though, opinions please?

I didn't even know what these Converse things were - I had to look them up and then I had to laugh - they look just like the old baseball boot things some people used to wear when I was a teenager, many years ago! I wouldn't wear them for anything then and I still wouldn't now - they would look ridiculous on me (and I have massive feet too).

I'm with Southeastastra, straight cut are the best. IMO the idea that bootcuts 'balance out' large hips and thighs is complete nonsense. Why have a trouser that is tight where you go out large and loose where you go in? Madness.

If you are curvy then straight cut are the way to go. Who cares if no 18 year olds wear them? Are we into being stylish or simply fashionable?

Good job we all like different stuff - it makes things more interesting - I can't bear fashion 'rules'.

I mean I would never wear trainers with any type of jeans and would wear ballet flats with skinnies as well as flat boots.

I wore skinnies and Converse into the office last week (we have dress down Friday). I'm 37, everyone knows this, and someone in their early twenties, used to seeing me in 'professional' work attire, said to me "you're pretty trendy for your age". I was rather flattered.

Skinnies and Converse look good ! Bootcuts and Converse also work, but it is essential that they are literally on the floor, ankle swingers are not a good look Grin

Quite Noddy - so just listen ok Wink

Boot cut must be long and must be worn with chunky boots that aren't too high or they look all flappy!!! Flappy is very rarely good

Okay can you help me out? I'm 5.2 and currently trying to lose weight. Size 14 waist and 12 hips. Muffin top, not a particularly large bottom and not very large thighs. Overall look - dumpy. What jeans would suit me?

When I get back to my pre-pregnancy weight I'm likely to be waist 8-10, hips 6-8, pre-pregnancy I had thin legs. Overall look -petite. What jeans would suit this shape?

I feel odd wearing long boots with jeans because I'm so short I worry that I will end up looking like Puss-in-Boots.

Agree that it's all in the styling.

I'm divided on the Converse thing, I have a few pairs for bumming around the garden/the beach during the summer but wouldn't really wear otherwise as I can't seem to do super casual if not doing anything outdoorsy. They do really suit some people though.

Oh and MrsCB might not be your colours but have you seen bargainous equipment shirt here?

OnlyANinja · 18/01/2012 08:47

I promise I don't work for them but Dressipi do a good "What jeans suit my shape" if you are willing to spend time measuring yourself and putting the measurements into the website.
