Am size 14 and in my 40s... Like darker denim - am wearing a white stuff pair at the moment but they are too low. Am an apple shape - any recomendations?

I have no idea but am marking my spot as I want jeans like these too Grin

talkingnonsense · 01/01/2012 09:16

And me! New look hula used to be perfect, but the yes yes yes jeans that replaced them are lower, though not too low ( cheap!). I have a boden pair that are almost too high ( mom jeans), a gap curvy pair that started well but now droop, a great plains pair that are fab, but a sort of 70s style that needs heels.
Have tried and discarded dorothy Perkins, white stuff, fat face, all too low and also cut wrong. May try the Levi curve, have heard good things but ££.

johnworf · 01/01/2012 09:20

M&S are good and ASDA jeans work for me. Both do different size legs too.

maydaychild · 01/01/2012 09:22

I too am after this holy grail
Marks jeans just make your bum look too big as the pockets are too small and too high. Take note marks & Spencer's jeans designers!!
Next sometimes do a good pair, hit and miss on the style though.
Their actual high waist jeans are a joke. Poor cut, the zipper doesn't hide anywhere so they ruined a dozen of my tops before I realised the culprit.

maydaychild · 01/01/2012 09:23

I am going to design my own (once I work out how to use a sewing machine!!

BeattieBow · 01/01/2012 09:25

French connection used to be good for jeans. Maybe it's worth paying a little extra and going for designer jeans.

I like topshop jeans too. and some Gap ones - but I am a different shape for you.

janx · 01/01/2012 10:28

Wow - you have tried alot talkingnonenseWink...I once had a fantastic pair from Paul Smith that I got in the sale - but have never found a pair like them.....will go and look at Levi's

Watching this like a hawk as well.. have had more pairs of jeans than hot dinners (or is that men? Hmm ) Ridiculous that most recent success has been a Tesco pair bought for £1 from local charity shop. Though they're really thin denim. Anyone got a link for the Levi's ones?

dearprudence · 01/01/2012 12:12

The Asda great bum jeans are really comfy and have quite a high waist, but the leg shape is a bit odd on me - but then I am the kind of throwback who still likes a flared jean Wink

dearprudence · 01/01/2012 12:12

And I know I just said 'jean' in the singular. Sorry about that.

sue52 · 01/01/2012 13:22

John Lewis for women are good and reasonably priced. Levis curve are excellent and the best fit I have ever had.

Dragonwoman · 01/01/2012 13:31

If you want skinny, TopShop Leigh jeans are great & come in a really soft stretchy fabric.

Liveinthepresent · 01/01/2012 13:34

I keep buying Oasis cherry (skinny) and scarlet (boot cut)

If you are happy to spend £££ then my mum looks amazing in her not your daughters jeans - very flattering on apple shape.

southeastastra · 01/01/2012 13:49

my levi curve sit on the waist

southeastastra · 01/01/2012 13:50

also i got some more for £22 in tk maxx last week

slightlycrumpled · 01/01/2012 13:54

I agree with sourh I love my Levi curve jeans & they sit on my waist. I can bend down without fear of showing my knickers!

slightlycrumpled · 01/01/2012 13:54

South I meant south! Smile

Bunbaker · 01/01/2012 13:58

It is worth looking in TK Maxx. I know it can be hit or miss, but I bought some fabulous Saltworks jeans from there in September. There is a lot of stretch in them, but that is what I need for a good and comfortable fit as I have a small waist relative to my hips. I find that Levi curve are a good fit, but I don't like wearing tight jeans.

MaMattoo · 01/01/2012 14:08

Am watching this closely. I am short, have a camel toe inducing c sec overhang. Nothing looks goodSad have cried many a tear of frustration over jeans. The days of being a perfect 8A at gap are over Sad there are no nice clothes for short and fat people :(( ESP when my girth is larger than my height :((

Snowstorm · 01/01/2012 14:16

Do the Levi Curve jeans that sit on the waist look like mum jeans?

I'm apple shaped around the bottom too and try to look for squarer, lower type pockets as I think (delude myself) that they make my bottom look a better shape/smaller. I've been wearing Abercrombie and Whatsit jeans and I really like them but I think the time has come for me to get mid-rise jeans as opposed to the low-rise ones, as I'm getting fed up with them, so once I've worn them out I'll be going on the dreaded jeans hunt too.

I've never got why boot cut is supposed to be flattering. I'm 5ft4 and they look terrible on me ... also I can't take anything that might look as though it's even got a tiny bit of flare on it or else I have bad flashbacks to what my mother used to dress me in when I was little Grin.

Watching this thread with interest - maybe I should try the 'Not your daughter' jeans. How expensive are they?

TheReturnoftheSmartArse · 01/01/2012 14:18

I've just bought a pair in Whistles. Dark denim, skinny jeans, high waisted. I'm short and curvy with a bit if a muffin top. My super critical teen DDs both say I look amazing in them, which is nice! Smile. They're quite stretchy.

maydaychild · 01/01/2012 14:42

Technically we are all probably discussing higher rise jeans but our measurements will be totally different.
For example, I measure from the crease in my fanny up to my belly button 9 inches. This is fairly flat and straight, I have a relatively flat ish stomach.

Even supposedly high rise jeans cut me in half somewhere around 6 inches up.
I have a looong body

Come on make me feel more normal wontcha all? Measure up?

maydaychild · 01/01/2012 14:43

NYDJ £190 ish in John Lewis
Ouch

Snowstorm · 01/01/2012 15:05

Ah ... that's just a little on the pricey side then ... even for an A&F wearer ... Once bought a pair of jeans in New York called 'Lucky' ... they were fantastic and I loved them so much. Have a hunch that it was probably because I was a size smaller then though and so any jeans would have looked okay'ish at that stage!!

makeyerowndamndinner · 01/01/2012 15:26

Jeans from Oasis have a higher rise and are more flattering than jeans from top-shop or other high street stores in my opinion.

Am definitely wanting to try the Levi curve ones though.
