Are you all nursing hangovers or just clearing up the post Christmas mess?

OP posts:
Blackduck · 02/02/2012 15:20

Oh Ruby Congrats - and what's the job?

Wilbur - fingers crossed. We have photos like that our house, the one from the bottom of the garden makes it look like the house is a mile away!
We have a viewing tonight and the house is a tip (well most of it is in boxes, or radomly piled up ready to go in boxes, I guess it is 'de-personalised' like they tell you to do!)
Ds's teacher wants to see me tomorrow I was living in hope that things had improved. Would I be really wrong if asking him to be moved classes?

CointreauVersial · 02/02/2012 17:11

Wow Ruby, well done! My job was also a serendipitous find, involving a conversation between a friend of mine and one of her mates, followed by a speculative phone call. Four-and-a-half years later......

Wilbur - I agree, salad does sound a bit barmy, but our office is very toasty. I am a huge fan of soup, but the microwave in the office is two floors up, and carrying a steaming bowlful down a busy staircase and through several doors is fraught with potential disasters.

Not heard of Nanobleurgh, but I didn't like the Garnier BB Cream, as it made me look like a plastic mannequin. And my face felt greasy all day.

bigTillyMint · 02/02/2012 17:53

Dukes, love the dress - where did you get it for £57????

Stropps, you bragger Envy - must be all the circuits you do. At least you can't do a Natalie press-up (nor can I!) Our DVD player is so crap that I struggle to hear her anyway.

Ruby - result! What is the job?
I had a similar experience with a little side-line job I do, and may have a 3rd in the pipeline!

We have had a freezing day at workAngry Sadly the boiler-man turned up at last knockings, so it sadly looks like we are open for business tomorrow.

Just had DS's Parent's Evening and it was quite positive which is Good News. Maybe it's the same for you BD? Is the other teacher much better?

Never heard of Nanoblur. I'm sooooo out of touch Sad

wilbur · 02/02/2012 19:03

Dukes - I have very dry skin and after a bit of reading the instructions, I put my usual moisturiser on and left it while I got dressed and dried my hair, so about 5-10 mins, and then I put the nano stuff on. I was expecting it to dry in a sheen, but it's quite matt, or was on me. I did really notice I had to apply makeup quite quickly (I don't use foundation on a daily basis, so it was just concealer and powder plus eye makeup) as it dried quite fast on contact. I think it's one of those things, like mineral makeup - so many people love it, but when I tried the mineral stuff my face practically threw itself off in great unhappy dry strips Shock!

DukesOfTripHazard · 02/02/2012 20:57

Nano sounds good, Wilbur.

Fear my experiment budget is in overspend though as I am in week three of Rapidlash. I'm waiting.....

Strops I had that lid and line about three years ago in grey. It was good, should get more.

Had lesson 2 on drums. Bluddy brilliant. Love it love it.

Good for you re drums Duke.
No BTM unfortunately it's the not listening thing again. Ds is claims he doesn't hear/understand. I think he now has a 'thing' about this teacher and moving him might be best for both of them.

I see your 3kg Ruby and raise you to 5kg...... ;)

TheReturnOfStropperella · 03/02/2012 09:13

Dukes, so glad the lessons are going well. How are the neighbours taking the drumming so far? Grin
I have the lid & line in bronze. V gd, I reckon.

Grin Grin @ Ruby and BD with your BIIIG weights. I also have 5kg and (hahaha) 10kg (currently in use as doorstop), but I don't use these any more. I found using the heavier weights quickly made me too Arnie-ish (and gave me a corded neck). As I am stocky with v. broad shoulders and a wide back, it was not an improvement.

DukesOfTripHazard · 03/02/2012 09:39

I use 2kg weights. Which would have sounded much more impressive if I'd managed to post before Ruby and Blackduck.

Ruby that sounds perfect, so happy for you.

Re drumming. Well, lovely gorgeous neighbours on one side claim to have heard nothing. I sent a terribly nice note asking for any feedback from the other side and have heard nothing. Although I doubt they can say the same, the onus is on them to let me know if it's bad for them. However maybe it isn't dreadful as drums in loft and they aren't built into theirs and are prob on ground floor when I'm playing. Learnt a great hip hop beat last night. I am so cool Grin

Blackduck · 03/02/2012 09:58

Dukes I am mega impressed - can't hold a beat to save my life!!
Stropps I am puny on the shoulders and arms - no upper body strength so trying to improve it with the weights (when the dog isn't trying to carry them around in his mouth - he will dislocate his jaw at some point)

Yes it was me. Am coming to end of week three, thanks for reassurance!

wilbur · 03/02/2012 10:44

What is this Rapid Lash of which you speak? My eyelashes are a source of pain and shame and I ong for better ones. Right am off to google.

Cool re the drums, Dukes, and I bet you end up with fab toned arms as a bonus! Grin

herbaceous · 03/02/2012 14:47

Tell you what's great, Uniqlo heat-tech thermal garms, that's what. I have the leggings on under my jeans, and the socks on under my boots, and the long-sleeved top on under my cashmere jumper and fleece, and am toasty. In my study with no radiator.

Put my car in for its service this morning, and got a lift back home from a lacky. They'll even bring it home! Such service! It's my first-eve new, or even respectable, car (which I bought a couple of years ago via the scrappage scheme), and am most un-used to 'service'.

bigTillyMint · 03/02/2012 16:41

herbs, totally agree - I have a long-sleeved Uniqlo thermal top on and am also toasty!

Strops, I would neve have described you as stocky - you looked petite to me.
I feel I am doing well using the 2.5kg weights and I do NOT want to chunk-up around my neck!

I have two HeatTech tops on constant rotation. Good old Uniqlo, eh?

I have kept warm today by vigorous housework - we have family over tomorrow, and there is nothing like a parental visit to get me cleaning. DD1 was off school today, with a slight cold and a side order of lazy-itus, but she's not usually a malingerer, so I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I thought it was a good opportunity to teach her how to clean silver. Grin We only have a few bits and pieces, but my dad is guaranteed to pick them up and tut loudly if they are less than sparkling.

The boiler was making a ferocious racket all afternoon, then switched itself off, warning light flashing ominously. I'm feeling very pleased with myself, having diagnosed the problem thanks to Mr Google and fixed it (frozen condensate pipe + kettle of hot water = working boiler!)

motherinferior · 03/02/2012 20:03

I am wearing HeatTech but am profoundly untoasty. It takes a lot to toast me :fnar:

BTW my beauty ed much impressed by Nanoblur, less so by BB cream.

MrsSchadenfreude · 04/02/2012 09:27

We had a light dusting of snow last night, but it has all gone now. Apparently it is minus 6, and it feels like it, although it is a nice bright day. I am 47 today - DH is in Geneva, but got me a Kindle for my birthday. Think I will insist on going out to dinner tomorrow night when he gets back - I have 15 for dinner on Monday and will be cooking all weekend.

The Garnier BB cream brought me out in horrid dry itchy patches and its friend the eye roller thingy gave me enormous eye bags with creases. My skin was so bad I couldn't put anything on it for days - even La Roche Posay stuff stung like buggery (as my father would have said Grin). My skin is usually quite good tempered, though a little dry, and it looked terrible. Have not had a reaction like this since I tried Turnaround cream and looked like I had had acid thrown in my face.

motherinferior · 04/02/2012 09:53

Happy Birthday MrsS Wine Wine Wine

Had text from Darling Childfree Best Mate yesterday saying 'am at airport, just off to Thailand, see on on 17th' and then another saying 'just changing planes at Doha, reading Trollope, weird combo'. Much as I love DCBM, AIBU for feeling a quite corrosive Envy just at this particular moment?

I have at least got out of taking five girls to Monster in Paris at local fleapit Grin. I shall greet them on their return with the fixings for self-assembly pizzas (bought bases), ditto for ice cream sundaes, and brownies with white choc chips in Grin

bigTillyMint · 04/02/2012 11:07

Happy Birthday Mrs S! Another 47-clubber! Hope your DD's are looking after you!
I have a kindle, but I haven't really used it yet - half-term will be the inauguration.

ruby no heating and bike repairs and DC's parties Shock

We have friends coming for dinner with their DD who will be sleeping over. Only my DD has big exams next week and is in panic/moaning stations about not wanting any sleepover. Think there may be some bribery going on later Wink

MI, I was just wondering why you were going to Paris to see a fillum, when I realised it was a film Blush
