How can I help my sore lips?

They are so sore and red :( Have been using vaseline cocoa butter but it's not doing much. Is there anything else I can use?

Nivea "SOS" stuff in the tube.

Slather it on at night.

My lips have been horribly dry and sore lately but SOS always does the trick. Makes them lovely and plumpy.

Frog253 · 19/12/2011 19:12

Firstly do not lick them! Secondly I recommend Kammilosan (used for bf). Good for lips and nips I say.

AngeG · 19/12/2011 19:14

This works well for my lips, need to apply it a lot,but when my lips are sore they usually feeling loads better after a couple of hours.

headfairy · 19/12/2011 19:14

Blistex is the only thing that sorts out my lips when they get like that. Tingles like hell for a minute but after that it's brilliant.

GlaikitFizzEggNog · 19/12/2011 19:15

I swear by carmex. makes your lips all tingly!

RedBlanket · 19/12/2011 19:17

I always use caseous from the little round blue tins. Works every time and cheap as chips.

OhThisIsJustGrape · 19/12/2011 19:17

I use Lasinoh on mine (nipple cream). It's quite thick and sticky so I just slap it on before going to bed and it really does heal them overnight.

BlueBallsandBaubles · 19/12/2011 19:22

I just use vaseline but slather it on at night over the edges and everything. Ex dh used to hate Smile

HairyNigel · 19/12/2011 19:24

Oooh thanks! Don't know what to choose now! Xmas Grin

Another vote for Lansinoh Xmas Grin it is fantastic on sore lips.

ReapWhatYouSew · 19/12/2011 19:42

I saw Lansinoh recommended on a different thread and now have lips to rival Angelina's (well, not really but they were transformed in double quick time!). Also saw recommended for dry hands...a wonder product!

warmandwooly · 19/12/2011 19:53

If they still do it Bourjois do a night lip balm which I like.
I like Space NK's own brand lip balm too.

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 19/12/2011 20:17

Used Lansinoh but much prefer Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. Crap for everything else but great on chapped lips overnight.

FritziGreenEyes · 19/12/2011 20:21

Dermalogica barrier repair is good.

QueenOfFlamingEverything · 19/12/2011 20:23

I'd avoid anything mineral-oil based (like Vaseline) - IME they dry your lips out.

I use Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter on mine, and have some Burts Bees lipbalm in my bag for when I'm out - both are vegetable oil/beeswax based and loads more hydrating.

mistressdipdop · 19/12/2011 20:29

Eight Hour Cream. Pricey but lasts for ages and I never get sore lips when I have a tube on the go.

Viagrafalls · 19/12/2011 20:33

sudocreme is a great over night healer!

diedandgonetodevon · 19/12/2011 21:20

Eight Hour Cream- there's nothing like it for sore lips IMO

LakeFlyPie · 19/12/2011 22:19

I agree, Lansinoh and Elizabeth Arden 8 hour stuff, both curative IME

sprinkles77 · 20/12/2011 21:51

Don't lick them. Carmex followed by a nice lip gloss to discourage licking, chewing and fiddling.

Rexy · 21/12/2011 00:02

I swear by Neutrogena lip balm from Boots, it's the only thing that stops my lips from cracking all year round hth

PastGrace · 21/12/2011 00:04

Another vote for eight hour cream - just the teeniest tiniest dab rubbed in, and preferably left over night. It's miracle stuff!

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 21/12/2011 00:11

8 hour here too!

browneyesblue · 21/12/2011 00:15

Blistex here (the one with the red lid) - sorts my lips out when they're chapped

Littlepumpkinpie · 21/12/2011 00:15

Another carmex fan here I can be outdoors for HOURS with my dogs. I needed something that would last and work carmex ticked everything I needed for dry lips.
I was eyeing up a different one to try in boots there is one that is Lanolin based but at £8 I stuck with carmex as the pennies were tight at the time. If I get any cash for christmas I am going to try it :)
