Touche Eclait - is it worth the money?

I am sure there are threads about this, but i have looked and cannot find one?

I had a bit put on in local beauty store, under eyes, which are heavily shadowed right now. It seemed quite nice, my friend said it made a big difference.

Is it any good? I normally use No.7 (cheap) or Clinique, which to be honest does not work. No.7 now makes my eyes look to pale (ivory) or like I have been hit in the face (rose), not enough choice.

The touche eclait seems to sit nicely, not like concealer/make-up, seems to just soften the shadow. But, I only ha a bit on and not under make-up, or for any length of time.

Yes

Happy to help Smile

Ouchmyhead · 04/12/2011 20:30

Personally I prefer Diors version (both similar prices) because it comes in 3 different colours, and the pale pinky shade suits me better.

I am ridiculously pale though (red hair you know, it's a curse!) so I found that i had reverse panda if I used too much, it just didn't look right.

Other than colour though, the feel of it and how it sits on your skin is really nice. It doesn't cake or look horrible after a few hours.

IMO anyway!

EnjoyResponsibly · 04/12/2011 20:30

While you're at it invest in Diors liquid liner. Marv!

John Lewis were price matching yesterday so it was 10% off.

Luminescence · 04/12/2011 20:53

No way. Horrible stuff, the bourjois one is much better

Yawner247 · 04/12/2011 21:01

Red head too Smile I love it though and found that the colour is brill...highly recommend it and you can use it as a primer for your eyeshadow! It goes on beautifully and lasts well treat yourself you won't look back Grin

SlinkyB · 04/12/2011 21:06

I don't like it, much prefer Garnier's caffeine roller-ball version, which is less than half the price, too!

PavlovtheCat · 04/12/2011 21:07

luminescence for heavily shadowed eyes too? not just in the corners, but right across (the blame lays entirely on my dearest son aged 2).

slinky oh I vaguely recall seeing that, might go and look to, less to lose if half the price.

the Aldi one is good, touche Eclait is the best I've tried but only marginally

Vicki1981 · 04/12/2011 21:14

It's great. I've just discovered Benefit Lemon Aid which is fab too.

I use the avon version and think it's just as good.

Vicki1981 · 04/12/2011 21:27

I like 'the triangle' outer eye down to bottom of nose (diagonal) and back up to inner eye then blend. Avoids weird odd colour eyes!

macsaid · 04/12/2011 21:34

touche eclat definitley worth it and so is the eye cream - sorry forget what its called but in a similar dispenser and they will advise you at the counter

SlinkyB · 04/12/2011 23:11

pavlov (nice name btw) I used YSL Touche Eclat for years, then saw MNers were recommending the Garnier one when it was on sale in Superdrug a few months back. The metal rollerball is soothing, the liquid is thinner so doesn't trap in any creases, and I find the colour suits my skintone better (no more reverse panda eyes!).

mrswattnot · 04/12/2011 23:43

I use Touche Eclat in no 2. No 1 is very pale. Its a highlighter not a concealer so I use it as well as concealer under my eyes and also on brow bones, down sides of nose etc.

ameliagrey · 05/12/2011 07:15

No.

I used it for ages but then decided it's too pale, too pink toned AND it;s actually a highlighter, not a concealer.

mamasunshine · 05/12/2011 07:18

It's great stuff, and I always used to buy it until I discovered...Aldi's own version for 3.99 Shock and I kid you not, it is just as good Shock shock]

Wormshuffler · 05/12/2011 08:02

Another aldi convert here. It's brilliant.

Havingkittens · 05/12/2011 09:26

"I used it for ages but then decided it's too pale, too pink toned AND it;s actually a highlighter, not a concealer."

It comes in 7 different shades now so colour shouldn't be a problem if you ask the person on the counter to help you choose the right one for you. The fact that it's a highlighter is what makes it so good for areas of shadow. The main problem with people mistakenly thinking it was a concealer was that they would try to use it to cover spots and blemishes and then complain that it didn't work.

I like it. My only complaint is that is starts to smell bad quite quickly and a lot of people seem to have bad reactions to it. I am currently trying the Dior version which I really like too, it seems to be a bit lighter in texture. The Lancome one seems really nice too but I've only tried it in store.

Pavlov, the fact that you quite liked and it and your friend said it made a big difference should answer your question - unless you want to try one of the cheaper versions first to see if it works just as well on you. Only problem is you tend not to be able to test the cheaper ones so you're taking a punt. If you end up buying a cheap one which doesn't do the job then you will find yourself spending more in the end.

polyhymnia · 05/12/2011 10:19

Don't like it myself - much prefer the By Terry version, from Space NK. Terry 'invented' Touch Eclat while head of cosmetics at YSL, but I think the one she has in her own excellent (though quite ££)product line is much better.

PavlovtheCat · 05/12/2011 20:28

mrswatt being a highlighter is what I want isn't it? to deflect rather than clog/cover?

I would use it underneath make-up, but sometimes I don't have time to put make-up on but need something to just soften the shadows even if it does not hide it completely.

I use the highlighter pens that I have had in the past for the lines between nose and mouth, and also quite like to use it in the 'bud' between nose and lip which can look dark if I am very tired. luckily I don't have laughter lines (or does that mean not enough laughing so bad?!), but do find the No.7 one I use now leaves me with very pale eyes and pale marks around nose area if I don't blend with foundation too, so can't really use it on its own as it is quite yellow in colour, rather than my skin tone. But the rose one is too rosey and gives my eyes a darker tinge not lighter.

I did like it, but it is hard to tell for sure as she did not use it across my whole eye as I prob would, so did not get the full effect. I feel very Shock at the prospect of spending so much money on it, but I am fed up of wearing my dark heavy glasses to hide my eyes.

do Aldi do make-up? Shock for real? jeeez, now that might be worth a go...

...although I have sensitive skin, which is why i used no.7, as i could not afford the more expensive stuff when younger and it was the only stuff my skin did not react badly to. I use Avene moisturiser/cleanser as it is good my rosey skin which can get sore with harsh stuff. Is Aldi ok for sensitive skin?

How about Vie? anyone used that? I don't mind experimenting a little, even if it costs a small fortune to be honest, in order to find the right one, and then when I have found the one I prefer I can stick with it.

I have terribly sensitive skin and eczema. The Aldi mascara was brilliant but I couldn't use every day continuously - I'd say it was fine for wear 5/7 days.
