Best night cream?

Just about to finish by beloved Clarins one, but before I replace, are there any out there that are as good as or better? (or even, heaven forbid, cheaper?!) And yes, yes I know people say you don't need one, but I just like them.

It would feel all wrong putting normal moisturiser on at night. Grin

ooh, and sorry if it's been done recently, had a quick check but couldn't see anything.

Just had a Clarins thread and almost everyone seemed to agree it was excellent. Personally I always come back to it. If you watch out for promotions they are well worthwhile and make it better value. They always include really good sized tubes of their face creams.

Boots No7 Protect and Perfect -- £20 - ish for the Serum and it's great!

ameliagrey · 29/11/2011 20:02

Clinique super antioxident something or other- green tube and £36.
I don't rate Clarins- too much perfume and silly prices.

I found out a lot by reading www.beautypedia.com thanks to another MN!

It is very revealing and Clarins does not come out well.

40notTrendy · 29/11/2011 20:25

Ta. P&P doesn't suit my skin sadly. Think there's a Clinique offer on in town, will have a look.

Aldi serum and night cream are cheap and very good.

polyhymnia · 29/11/2011 22:38

Have used both Clarins and Boots P and P and think Clarins is a lot better. Really don't think it's highly perfumed as I hate any strong, 'artificial' smelling cosmetics - but then smell is a very personal, subjective thing.

NotnOtter · 29/11/2011 22:44

before you splash out - just try 3-4 nights of vaseline petroleum jelly

just TRY it.....g'wannnn

crazynell · 29/11/2011 23:11

read somewhere that aldi moisturisers and serums came out better in tests than clarins - and cheap!!

sorry i pressed the button twice :)

uniCorny · 29/11/2011 23:12

the red clarins one is ace
I can never remember the names
decleor do nice night oily things

polyhymnia · 29/11/2011 23:19

Clarins red one is Super Restorative range - night and day creams, eye cream and serum. agree they are excellent. Sorry, may be irrational but don't personally want to buy my stuff from Aldi even if I lived near one.

40notTrendy · 30/11/2011 20:16

Vaseline??? Noooooooo.

I'd have an oil slick by morning on my forehead. No way not never!

Have heard about the Aldi ones before, wasn't it a Gok thing? I'm with you polyhymnia, just can't bring myself to do it. I like a bargain but I can't help feeling suspicious. Is probably made from cow's backside fat or something. Grin

40 - i love it and usually use lancome but wow vaseline rocks

HoHoOpotomus · 01/12/2011 10:01

I've been using cheap stuff for a few years now - but my skin has brightened up considerably since using the Clinique Turnaround night cream (thanks to MN as I was in the trial). I'll keep up with it. There is a review thread around for it for more info.

thepureemporia · 05/12/2011 14:57

Essential Care does a great Organic Superfruit Concentrate which is highly antioxidant.

MissFoodie · 05/12/2011 15:15

use a face oil, and if budget's an issue then just avocado oil!
just make sure you buy the proper stuff and not the one next to olive oil in supermarket :)

proudfoot · 05/12/2011 16:29

I use the same skin routine in the morning and night - Clinique 3 step + Clinique moisture surge and have recently started using the Clinique All About Eyes cream too. Clinique moisturisers are great - they absorb really quickly, leaving skin soft and with no greasiness at all. I would really recommend Moisture Surge as one of the nicest moisturisers I have ever used. I have never tried the Turnaround night cream but might at some point (probably if it is ever Bonus Time...)

I can't imagine Vaseline working?! It is petroleum jelly so all it does is "protect" and seal in what is already there, but it won't actually add any moisture at all. Surely it would also rub all over your bedding...

My DM has used some of the Aldi products and recommends them as very good, so I'm sure they are worth trying on a budget but personally I never have.

40notTrendy · 05/12/2011 16:33

I use the Clinique 3 step system, it suits my skin. So I am interested in their night cream, but not if it has to go over the moisturiser? Have also heard Neals Yard and REN do a frankincense one that is meant to be good.

NhameCage · 05/12/2011 16:36

I haven't used Clarins night cream so can't compare but I love Night-a-mins by Origins.

I have tried an Aldi serum and thought it was terrible, it left my face all sticky and I couldn't put my make-up on Confused.

ameliagrey · 05/12/2011 18:17

Clinique Night repair antioxidant is good and got 3 *s from [www.beautypedia.com]]

I really recommend you read this site- it's packed with info.

I was using REN frankisence for years but have recently decided to have a change. The REN stuff is really good, but the pump is annoying because a good couple of applications stay in the bottle and you can't get it out.

40notTrendy · 05/12/2011 18:29

Just been on that website, fascinating!!!! Very surprising too. Think I'll go for the Clinique one. Ta

Try my night renewal cream, works wonders

Bucharest · 06/12/2011 08:16

Clinique is very harsh, but if your skin can take it, it's very good. (A Clinique woman told me once in John Lewis that really, their stuff is made for "problem" skin and leans much more towards oily/acne rather than dry/sensitive)

I like Clarins very much, which always seems gentler, andother ranges I have dabbled in and love are Dior Capture (smells divine) Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream (smells divine-bit like Dior Poison)Neal's Yard Frankinsense (probably the best one I've ever tried)

but I've been conducting an experiment since thissummer, and at night am putting Astral on. A posh day cream, but at night, just that. And you know what I'm going to say don't you? Xmas Grin It's amazing. (but prob not for oily skin) I have always slathered my face in vaseline a couple of times a month when it gets really dry. (after all, that's all the emperors new clothes Elizabeth Arden cream is, thicker vaseline in a posh box.
