Why is White Stuff so universally hated on here?

Donning flameproof suit but I like it. I agree that some of the heavily patterned stuff is a bit OTT and I prefer the winter stuff to the summer range generally but it's not THAT bad is it? The colours are fab and the stores are really nice to shop in. Some of the plain tunics and cardigans are lovely and I've really fallen for a pair of winter boots to wear with chunky tights and a short skirt. (Mind you I have just ordered the Clarks shoes that everyone else hated when I posted about them last week so not sure I should even be frequenting this board!) Surely it's like everything though - head to toe WS would not be good but mixed with other things it can look nice can't it?

Blush I actually really like most of the winter collection .... Patterns, tunics and all !!

grumplestilskin · 14/11/2011 20:26

l hate it because I cant have it, too expensive
have some second hand stuff, the quality is AMAZING and it washes and washes and feels so luxurious

I like that dress, its just styled alllllll wrong!!!!!!!

grumplestilskin · 14/11/2011 20:28

no, I'm thinking white company LOL been a long day

like white stuff too, however it does not wash well so can't afford it either due to the fact that it is quite disposable clothing (because it looks tatty after a couple of months)

clairemb12 · 14/11/2011 20:30

Grin hahahaha just looked at that party dress - just checking they have my size .... (not!)

The dress is a tad Cath Kidston...

sillysillymum · 14/11/2011 20:35

I must admit I like the look of some/most of it but the quality is rubbish. Fade and lose their shape quite quickly so I only buy in the sale

culturevulture · 14/11/2011 20:57

But did any of you know that they never sell any black clothes?

I went into a store to ask about some black suede boots i'd seen on the website and was tole they must have been dark brown or green.

CroissantNeuf · 14/11/2011 21:06

I like a lot of their stuff but not that hideous 'party' dress (I presume the party they are referring to is a 1970s wake).

Animula "It's one of those brands that sells a dream: Buy this and you can pretend you are on holiday - involving surfing and fresh sea-food and jolly, slated chilren - all year round. And yes, you are a fit-mum, who drops the children off at school and then grabs a surfboard/bike/whatever.".....surely that's Seasalt ! You can always spot the families who have been to Cornwall in the holidays as the Mums appear in the playground kitted out in Seasalt afterwards.

I've found the quality to be OK although I agree some things are very pricey so they bloody well should wash well and last a while! Great sales as well although the really hideous stuff always makes an appearance at sale time too!

I definitely veer towards the plainer items and see it as nice daytime wear rather than for evenings and definitely not parties - that dress is awful!

I suit simple shapes, jewel type colours and layers so their stuff is ideal for me. I also wear tunics quite a lot - what else are you supposed to wear with leggings or skinny jeans without showing off your bum and wobbly belly? I think even someone with a decent figure should think twice about that, camel toe is never a good look!

I get most of my other clothes from places like Gap or Zara so a few bits from WS or Fat Face work well to liven up the more classic stuff but I do find you need to choose carefully - anything too 'kooky' would also make me look like a bag lady and stuff like Joe Brown's is one step too far - I stopped being a scruffy art student over 20 years ago, I've no wish to start dressing like one now.

I totally agree about the selling a dream thing, I'm a sucker for a bit of aspirational twaddle and not ashamed to admit it!

Joules is another of the aspirational lifestyle type clothing companies.

Where Seasalt is the surfy/coastal lifestyle, Joules is the horsey/countryside one.

CroissantNeuf · 14/11/2011 21:32

Slightly off topic but......re: Joues Do you reckon this Corgi jumper is on Kate Middletons Xmas list to keep her MIL happy? Grin

clairemb12 · 14/11/2011 21:44

Grinhahaha I love joules! It's my favourite! and I did move to a posh village a couple of years back and the last time I sat on a horse was about 20 years ago... Still when I was younger I loved Billabong/Roxy etc and although I lived in Australia then I never went surfing either Blush

clairemb12 · 14/11/2011 21:45

I have spotty Joules Wellibobs are they are great Grin Grin Grin

CroissantNeuf · 14/11/2011 21:50

clairemb12 · 14/11/2011 21:52

Hmm err not really they look a bit scabby actually Wink

FoofFighters · 14/11/2011 22:17

Shock that party time dress is an absolute masterpiece of vileness Shock

CointreauVersial · 14/11/2011 22:29

Blush I went to Cornwall this year and came back with a Seasalt dress.

Good thing I'm "effortlessly photogenic", eh? Grin

Joules - gah! All those horsey pastel rugby tops. Not my thing at all.
