Are nude heels REALLY last season ?

Northumberlandlass · 14/11/2011 07:49

That's it really.
I have 3 dresses to wear over the Christmas party season (Blue / red / pale blue) and I only have black shoes. I wanted something I could wear with all three and nude heels seemed the way to go.

What do you think ? Any of other recommendations ?

They're lovely. I think they are a style staple. Next has some lovely peep toe ones with a mid or high heel.

VivaLeBeaver · 14/11/2011 08:31

I'd have thought that they're more of a summer shoe and that black heels would work better for Xmas parties.

I got these in the sale last week - they re lurverly! i was hoping they would be an 'updated' on nudeish shoes - as in wear them with some dresses i would have previously worn my nude shoes with.
I dont think nude are last season at all btw!

sorry try this

trixymalixy · 14/11/2011 08:40

Nude shoes are a bit summer wedding rather than christmas party imo. They also became a bit of a no no for me after all the other royals started copying Kate by wearing them.

worldgonecrazy · 14/11/2011 08:42

If I see them I do think a bit last season, maybe they will have a resurgence in the Spring? Definitely not a Winter colour.

SeeLyon · 14/11/2011 08:47

i see them and think prosthesis and SAFE

those KG ones are VILE - liek teh ones models have on the end of their feet

SeeLyon · 14/11/2011 08:51

like the snakey ones a LOT more

ENormaSnob · 14/11/2011 09:10

Summery IMO

I have just got block heel (v v high) leopard print for winter parties. Got loads of black heels but only wear them with black dresses Confused

RamblingRosa · 14/11/2011 09:28

Not a huge fan myself. As SeeLyon says, it makes me think of shop dummies. Actually, I think it's the patent I dislike more than the actual colour.

How about tan as an alternative neutral?

If you like and want those shoes though, check out T K Maxx, they had some identical Carvela and Steve Madden ones recently for about a third of the price.

2 words, Loose women! That is my barometer for no. If they wear it it is tragic. Like the snake ones have similar and although skin is usually quite racy they are fairly classic looking on. I really like snake shoes with opaque tights. The nude ones are awful like close encounters alien feet

Northumberlandlass · 14/11/2011 12:18

Thanks Ladies, I just wanted something that could go with these two dresses. Not black, as I am trying to inject some colour into my wardrobe !

and

I could afford two cheaper pairs, I was going to ask for the KG ones for my birthday !

Will check out TK Maxx.

I am trying to embrace my height (6 ft) but I don't really want platforms !

Smile Thank you x

North love the red dress

Nippysnippy · 14/11/2011 12:30

I think the snakeskin ones are very 'accounts Christmas party' and won't go with the stunning red dress.
The sequin ones are just tacky panto wear.
I think your original choice was nicer. Lets the dresses take centre stage. A nude leather pair instead of patent would be even nicer.

FauxFox · 14/11/2011 12:32

I would go for gold glittery ones - it is xmas after all!

Northumberlandlass · 14/11/2011 12:32

Thanks Noddy, it is lovely on too. Really pleased with it, such a bargain.
I don't really want to match red shoes to a red dress, and think black heels are too safe ! Do you think leopard spots or would that be too much ?

OP posts:
noddyholder · 14/11/2011 12:32

oh no they're not Grin

noddyholder · 14/11/2011 12:34

tacky panto wear is preferable to Jane McDonald.

Northumberlandlass · 14/11/2011 12:34

Love MN and the differing opinions.
I need a shoe shopping day Smile

LaurieFairyCake · 14/11/2011 12:38

£90 for plastic shoes Shock

DH and I were talking about this yesterday how mid range stuff has got really expensive.

I think you'd be better off on Ebay buying decent leather designer shoes. You'd probably get 3 really good pairs for 90 quid (new, not used)

Northumberlandlass · 14/11/2011 12:38

Nippy ! I agree, but budget is the key word here Grin . I have been trawling Ebay though
