So have you found a magic product/experience/technique/shop/anything that has the power to make you feel fab? Maybe a haircut/underwear/having your colours done/personal shopper.. What's your secret? FWIW mine is underwired nursing bras Wink.. but I'm hoping for plenty of non-lactating ideas!!

My 'feeling the power of your own body' thing is wild swimming. I think the way it makes you feel part of nature helps with the body acceptance thing plus if you do it regularly apparently the cold water turns fat into brown fat which is denser and thus makes you look thinner.

thunderboltsandlightning · 13/11/2011 21:52

Loving myself and believing I'm acceptable exactly the way I am, and not feeling I need to buy anything to improve me.

Also I'd agree on Beauty and Misogyny - chucked away my makeup after reading it. What a fantastic feeling that was.

CakeandRoses · 13/11/2011 21:56

yourcall come join us on our facebook springs group!!! it's sooo fabulous.

gillybobs upthread is in the group too.

saying that, apparently springs can become winters as they age so it depends how old you are/how much you've changed.

garlicBread · 13/11/2011 21:56

Another vote for a red dress.
Another vote for uncovering the pointless misogyny behind 'beauty'.
I hate running ...
so I'll add learning Pilates. Strength, grace and balance, plus a well-toned pelvic floor.

Gillybobs · 13/11/2011 21:56

Yourcallisimportant Im no expert but as far as I know your season doesnt change as you age, what might change is which of your colours look best near your face as your hair or skin tone "matures" : ) When you had it done did they give you "ratings" for each Spring colour (ie. which is good for you and which are excellent for you, which should just be used for accessories etc) as they do now?

TooTiredToArgue · 13/11/2011 21:58

Another vote for 'The 30 Day Shred'. The feeling afterwards is fantastic (once you've got your breath back and peeled yourself off the carpet) Grin.

CakeandRoses · 13/11/2011 21:58

ha - i'm obviously a far more welcoming type than that gillybobs Grin

Gillybobs · 13/11/2011 22:03

YourCallIsImportant · 13/11/2011 22:06

CakeandRoses · 13/11/2011 22:09

Regular exercise and developing muscles (not big body building muscles, toned defined muscles). Also lots of fresh air.

Wow - this is my first post in S&B. Can I ask a genuine question - what on earth is eyebrow threading?

hester · 13/11/2011 22:53

Getting enough sleep.
Eating healthily.
Cold weather (summer does not suit me or my wardrobe).
Comfortable shoes.
Decent underwear.
Hot cloth cleansing.
A good serum.
BE make-up.
Concealer around the nose (yes, really).
Eyebrow pencil.
Tinted lipbalm.

spatchcock · 13/11/2011 23:10

LaCiccolina - I really like your tip about entering a room. It also reminds me of 'Love in a Cold Climate', where Cedric teaches Lady Montdore to say "brush" just as she is entering a room, giving the face a pleasant expression with which to greet a crowd!

BelinaTheChicken · 14/11/2011 08:43

Callipo where did you get your nursing bra? I have an elomi one I got off eBay which is great but anything remotely low cut means I have bra showing. Any ideas? I'm 34F which only seems to come in granny bras.

Love underwired nursing bras, was dreading the mono boob/shelf look I was sporting for DS1!

Also have tried to wear under eye concealer, powder and mascara everyday, people tell me I'm looking well despite having no sleep so it must make a difference

lambethlil · 14/11/2011 08:56

First ever visit to the dental hygienist when I was 30!

Swimming- or any exercise where I stretch and become 'unhunched'. My natural posture is not good, if I push my shoulders back I look and feel a million times better.

Weight.Confused

My best weight looks wise is BMI 17. I can get to that, but not without effort and although I then look good, I know its not healthy (mental health wise not necessarily physically). I was looking at some photos of me at 8 stone, just over 2 years ago and although I looked great and younger I know I'm better inside now at 10.

LaDolcheRyvita · 14/11/2011 09:19

Maybe it's an age thing but, I have recently sorted and chucked out clothing (to charity shop) and makeup. I have eliminated much of the stress of which blusher makes me look more alive and which outfit I can fit into. It's all been paired down to the essentials. Everyday, I wear a dab of foundation and blush. Mascara and my eyebrow felt tip thingy from GOSH. No more bronzer or "pop" of colour for my cheeks.

I feel understated and far more " attractive 40 something, without trying too hard" Smile

I do walk 30 mins five times a week. Drink little coffee and try to do the water thing.

phyllisdiller · 14/11/2011 09:53

A good cut and colour.
Good underwear.
A good run.
Good sex.
Healthy food.

euphrosyne · 14/11/2011 10:12
