Sob! I spent $173 on having my hair coloured and it's feckin' yellow.

I swear the hairdressers had special lighting so you couldn't really tell.

Just did the school run and one of my dd's friends (8) came running over and said "Your hair! It's funny. I liked it how it was before". DD (also 8) just keeps looking at me with her head on one side and a puzzled expression. DS (6) burst into tears.

This is not a good look.

I've been blonde for a while, not white blonde or anything, just y'know, sunkissed and all, but it's so expensive to get it coloured I haven't been to the hairdressers since early June.

All I asked was that the roots could be the same colour as the ends. [head in hands emoticon] The hairdresser was a recommendation by someone at school but was 45minutes drive away. I don't want to go all the way back there.

Oh wondrous people, stylish people, people with non-yellow hair of Mumsnet, help me. I'll have to go back to brown I think, is it possible to do it at home (without seeing another fecking hairdresser) and not turn out bright green?

I'm doing that whole self-deprecating ''Yes, I know, it's awful, ah well, it's only hair" thing but I feel like shit.

Tell us who they are!

wandawings · 11/11/2011 11:18

Shocking! You have to name and shame!

RottenRow · 11/11/2011 11:45

Bastards. Even if they had made a genuine mistake and thought they had given you what you'd asked for a salon worth it's salt would have made the effort to sort it for you.

Def name and shame.

bottleofbeer · 11/11/2011 11:56

Oh my god, bet they were nice as pie to you while you were having it done and putting stupid money in their tills? This is soooo wrong, I'm frustrated that you did a dye job on yourself, you should have taken photos because if numerous people had a reaction to your hair colour then it was obviously an awful job and not just you thinking it looked bad.

They are obliged to fix it if you don't like it, bad hair is walking bad advertisement and they've now lost a customer into the bargain. Bad attitude, bad business. Find a good hairdresser and get them to make a note of your colours, mine has a note of the shades of blonde I have done so I get the same result every time and any hairdresser worth their salt knows when to take the colour off - yours clearly didn't as it goes through changes as it strips the coliur from your hair, orange, yellow and THEN blonde.

bottleofbeer · 11/11/2011 11:59

Hit send too soon...I guarantee whoever saw it today knew damn well what's gone wrong and that the bleach was washed off too soon, really no excuses for this because one look at you and any hairdresser will know exactly what the problem was and that it was pure bad hairdressing that caused it.

can't you complain to the consumer watchdog?!

MrsDistinctlyMintyMonetarism · 11/11/2011 20:17

Am in Australia so not at all sure about consumer watchdog type people.

Plenty of people on the school run have asked and I've told them, so I'm doing a bit to name and shame!

I'm feeling much less traumatised this morning, hey ho. It's only hair. I'll just avoid mirrors for a while.

Thanks ever so for your help. I know that I shouldn't have put more stuff on (and my poor head does feel sore), but I just couldn't face yet another school run! Smile

p.s Poor friend who recommended them is devastated. Had to give her a hug she looked so unhappy.

Oh MrsD I'm so sorry! I never in a million years thought they would say you asked for yellow bloody hair! Confused feel guilty for pushing you I'm sorry Blush

Well done for going in though you did the right thing they did not. It would have cost them next to nothing to put this right. The bit about leaving it a month is utter crap there is always a fix! In their industry reputation is everything, they will not last!

Mother flippers!!!!! Such bad business!

Good luck - I would come and duff 'em up but it's a bit of a treck! Smile

nomoreminibreaks · 12/11/2011 01:43

The same thing happened to me recently but I didn't have chance to do anything about it (my son is only 7 months and it was a logistical nightmare to get to the hairdressers in the first place..). Anyway it seemed to fade by itself and looks pretty normal now so maybe washing it a few times will help settle things down?

saffronwblue · 12/11/2011 06:43

I know how you feel - I become a complete wimp at the hairdressers and am currently sporting yellow straw on my head. My ex-hairdresser had a huge sign on the door saying "special 25% off for appointments on Thursday" small writing "conditions apply". When I went to pay for the yellow straw and asked for the 25% off I was told that that was for new customers only and that was the condition.
Now on the hunt for a new hairdresser that won't cost a fortune and won't make me feel or look bad.

MrsDistinctlyMintyMonetarism · 12/11/2011 08:34

Oh no nomore, you poor love, and you too saffron.

After lots of googling I've put avocado oil on my hair and then wrapped it in clingfilm overnight.

Sexy it ain't. Grin But my hair feels much better for it. Olive oil is also meant to be good.

Did they singe your scalp as well saffron?

The irony is that I went to a Halloween party as Bellatrix from Harry Potter - now as my ds points out, I actually look like her all the time. Thanks DS! tries to assume he means I look like Helena Bonham Carter and not just like a mad psycopath.
