Non wired bras for size 32F for DD1, that are neither sports bras nor maternity - any idea where? Needs to be mail order.

We have spent this evening looking at M & S, Figleaves etc, and there are NO bras anywhere in her size that are not wired and not sports bras or maternity bras, and don't look like something her granny would wear - lacy, cross your heart, with names like Doreen.

I am beginning to quietly despair. We live in the land of the tiny titted folk (France) where it is impossible to even get a sports bra above a C cup and everything is underwired. A lot of the maternity/nursing bras looked nice and funky, but she is (hopefully) not going to need drop cups for a while (she is 13). She has just burst out of her latest sports bras and M & S non wired in a DD cup, so this is quite urgent. If they can make nice maternity bras in colourful prints, why can't they make normal soft cup bras in the same stuff?

Any ideas?

bravissimo?

FullBeam · 06/11/2011 22:21

Try Bravissimo.

I found this pretty non- wired bra in a 32 F

Bravissimo

katz · 06/11/2011 22:21

Does she def not want wires, I'm a 32g and have some really nice simple wired tshirt bras from debenhams which are really comfy.

dumbelina · 06/11/2011 22:22

I was just going to say bravissimo too!

katz · 06/11/2011 22:29

Maternity bra but can't see why it wouldn't be ok as not got dropped cups brastop.com/SetDetails.aspx?setId=3260

MrsSchadenfreude · 06/11/2011 22:29

I had forgotten Bravissimo! Thank you! I think she would find three of those styles grudgingly acceptable (she would rather not have boobs at all) - will show her tomorrow.

She has absolutely vetoed wires, which is a bit of a problem with the norks shooting out at the rate they are.

Not dropped cup and very pretty. brastop.com/SetDetails.aspx?setId=2350&Product=Hot_Milk_Little_Decadence_Bra_Navy/Blue

PippiLongBottom · 06/11/2011 22:36

Bless her. I know how she feels, and my parents live in France so I am fully au fait with their ridiculous teeny bras. Is she sure she doesn't want wires? They make your boobs smaller and less obtrusive IM(expert)O.
I ended up having a reduction at 19 on the NHS, but don't tell her thatWink.

EightiesChick · 06/11/2011 22:39

I also like non-wired and in Debenhams yesterday they had a very good selection in the larger sizes. Just like M&S used to be. So probably worth checking them out to maybe buy online.

trixymalixy · 06/11/2011 22:42

I'm also a 32f and hate it, your poor DD being a 32 f aged 13 Sad.

I also think wires make boobs look a lot smaller, I detested wearing maternity and nursing bras be ause of the lack of wires.

PippiLongBottom · 06/11/2011 22:53

Oh and BTW, I was massive when I had the reduction. I am a 32FF now and they are positively small.

I say that in jest, as I think they are small now but know the perils of a large chest as a teen all too well Sad

squix · 06/11/2011 23:27

John Lewis - I've had some from there before

quietlyafraid · 07/11/2011 00:00

Brastop are really good, and have reasonable deals. Bravissimo is hideously over priced. I'm a 30E and have had problems finding bras for years. Age 13 they didn't seem to exist in my size! I NEVER buy on the high street; I've had real issues with some stores measuring me incorrectly just so they can try and get a sale because they don't stock my size at all.

If shes vetoing underwires shes going to really struggle, and frankly when you are that size you need the support. I do find it can be hit and miss with getting the right shape cup - they seem to vary between brands - I don't fit Freya at all. I also find I vary slightly in size between brands which is a really pain in the backside.

Cleo by Panache, Freya and Curvy Kate are the three main brands in the DD+ market aimed at a younger market. They are fun and colourful instead of just boring black and white and don't tend to be overly sexy (though a couple are).

AnnaBegins · 07/11/2011 00:09

here's the sophie bra that katz mentioned even cheaper, £16 here! braffinity.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=638_663&products_id=2082

good luck, must be a nightmare!

HazleNutt · 07/11/2011 07:18

She has probably tried a badly fitting wired bra, which would of course be hideously uncomfortable. She should really try again though, as wired bras give a much better shape, even the best non-wired look mumsy and droopy. She just needs to try different brands to find the one that fits.

Agree with shopping in France though, there's nothing over C.

HettyAmaretti · 07/11/2011 07:25

ARe you sure she's a 32? What are her actual measurements? Unless she's a really rather chunky build it's unlikely for her to be a 32 at 13...

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/11/2011 07:27

Thank you! I will show here these tonight and see what she thinks, but I am pretty sure she will find some of these acceptable. She is adamant that she does not want underwire, and is just adjusting to her "ladylumps" Hmm so I am not going to push it just yet. We are back in UK in December and have a day's shopping planned, so will see what is available.

Debenhams were very helpful when we went there in the summer and she got some nice T shirt bras - they fitted her and took their time with her, and put her in a 34D, which fitted then, but she has since lost weight (and TBH, I think the back size should have been smaller). M & S, at the same time, put her in a 36A, which was so wrong and didn't fit, that it was almost laughable.

HazleNutt · 07/11/2011 07:31

also, have you tried ebay?

eaglewings · 07/11/2011 07:42

Was sitting in John Lewis underwear section and over heard a very loud fitter tell a teenager and her mum that teenagers should not have underwires until they are older due to the growing and developing milk ducts (if I remember rightly)
That teenager really wanted the underwire and her mum had a hard job keeping her to the right bras

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/11/2011 08:06

Eaglewings - that's what we were told in JL as well. Mind you, the fitter also told DD1 that she had got stretchmarks on her boobs as a result of wearing the wrong fitting bra. Hmm

If that is the case, then they need to make non-wired bras in bigger sizes for younger girls. DD1 is by no means the bosomiest of her friends.

OP posts:
neversaydie · 07/11/2011 08:14

Ample Bosom. Although you may have to tell her it is called something else - the name would have put me right off as a teenager!

I have always found their service very good, and there do seem to be a few plainish bras in her size.

trixymalixy · 07/11/2011 08:30

MrsSchadenfreude, if you are coming to the uk it would be worth taking her to Bravissimo to be properly fitted. M&S have no clue about bra fitting.

dottyaboutstripes · 07/11/2011 09:22

My 13 year old dd is also a 32F Confused and I can't imagine her wearing a non-wired bra at that size tbh. I took her to John Lewis and we came away with this beauty www.johnlewis.com/104339/Product.aspx Maybe if she was fitted properly she'd find wires ok?? I suppose they take getting used to but I reckon it would be worth it.

saoirse86 · 07/11/2011 10:48

I thought underwired bras were only damaging to milk ducts if they were the wrong size. So if she gets fitted properly she should find the under wiring is fine. Maybe that's something you can build up to for next time you come back to the uk.
