Non wired bras for size 32F for DD1, that are neither sports bras nor maternity - any idea where? Needs to be mail order.

We have spent this evening looking at M & S, Figleaves etc, and there are NO bras anywhere in her size that are not wired and not sports bras or maternity bras, and don't look like something her granny would wear - lacy, cross your heart, with names like Doreen.

I am beginning to quietly despair. We live in the land of the tiny titted folk (France) where it is impossible to even get a sports bra above a C cup and everything is underwired. A lot of the maternity/nursing bras looked nice and funky, but she is (hopefully) not going to need drop cups for a while (she is 13). She has just burst out of her latest sports bras and M & S non wired in a DD cup, so this is quite urgent. If they can make nice maternity bras in colourful prints, why can't they make normal soft cup bras in the same stuff?

Any ideas?

I would agree about department stores being very bad at fitting. ESPECIALLY M&S. La Senza are terrible too. The worst fitting I ever had was at Victorias Secret in US. Have to admit I got measured for amusement as the staff were so pushy and seemed to think they had something to fit me. (I'd already told them they clearly didn't have anything to fit). I was creased up trying on the 32C they informed me I was!

I can honestly say, I've never heard about the milk ducts (and tbh it sounds like rubbish due to the fact that if she is that big already surely the ducts have formed by then - I would have thought it was only more appropriate advice for girls who are smaller and more likely to grow more. At 32F there really isn't much more growing to do!). Just get something that fits well and I'm sure it will be fine.

quielty I am trying to imagine how you tried to squeeze your 30E into 32C. Shock :o
And they claimed it fits?

They were forced to concede that actually they couldn't help me in the end. It was very very funny seeing their faces and the scowls on them!

More often than not, when I tell people my size their reaction is more along the lines of "does that even exist?". I had a hard time at school with it, and often didn't wear a bra, just a cami-top as nothing fitted and were just so uncomfortable. I was always told growing up I was a 32 back. It was a massive revelation to find out I was actually a 30 as I didn't know it existed until that point (I got measured at Selfridges Department Store - HIGHLY recommend just for that service - they overpriced though). It opened a whole new world for me. Now I just find the whole thing very amusing and get annoyed at really bad fitters.

It really amuses me greatly seeing celebs (particularly US ones) quote their bra size. If you look at pics of women like Katy Perry, you can see the back riding up as she's wearing too big a back. She claims she's a 32, but she's definitely smaller due to the fit. Thing is I have every sympathy with it. The UK is just about the only country in the world that seems to know how to size bras properly with a wide enough range. How I would survive in Spain or Italy I don't know.

Oh so true, I alsu notice how some really slim women with really huge silicones claim they are something silly like 40D. I always want to write to them that oh no you're not! But then again, there is such a massive choise in US - of everything except big cup/small back bras. If you find an E then it starts at 36..

True about Italy and Spain, there are some brands that only come in B-cups! how ridiculous is that? All Italian women are not B, really. I'm in France and I don't even try shopping here either, all my bras come from UK.

I rememeber seeing a woman on This Morning who had the biggest natural boobs or something and she was claiming to be something like a 52Z! She was a big woman but not that big! IIRC she was american too.

saoirse86 · 07/11/2011 22:27

Just found it here and I way underestimated how much she had overestimate her bra size. She reckons they're a 102ZZZ but I'm sure you'll agree she's got it horribly wrong. And maybe if she wore the right size they wouldn't be hanging round her ankles! Wink

Please get her measured at Bravissimo... I would bet she will actually need a smaller back and bigger cup than she thinks.. my DD was wearing a 34c when she went in there..came out in a 28FF!!!! When properly fitted wiring shouldn't be uncomfy and at her size she will need the support.

My DD2 is now 17 and still seems to be growing:( Now a 28J on a tiny size 8 frame... underwiring is essential!!

I personally think that when you reach F cup the no wires before 16 rule should go out of the window!! There is no such thing as a non-wired bra that adequately supports an F cup! (speaking from experience) In my (non-qualifiied and personal, not backed up by evidence) opinion is that having bras thats don't support you properly is surely worse than wires.

Zipitydooda · 23/12/2011 20:26

There are maternity bras without drop cups for wearing during pregnancy rather than with baby. BUT as a 34G and pre-pregnancies 32E/F, I would never go without a wire and wore well fitted wired bras through pregnancy and breast feeding, non-wired made me look like I had a load of giant, wobbly, sausages down my top rather than breasts! You can get minimiser bras I think?
