OK- how do we all get rid of our facial hair and how often?

Ok ladies, what's your facial de-fuzzing routine? Since hitting mid 40s the old trusty Jolen is no longer cutting the mustard for the sideburns. Still leaves me looking like Dave Lee Travis. Have recently began removing side-face-hair with Nair facial hair remover cream but it stings! Do this about every 2 wks. What do you all do?

Nail scissors for my cheeks and tweezers for my chin and top lip. Every morning I have to hack away. Tried using Jolen at the age of eleven but ended up with a huge blonde moustache.

Nail scissors - so you trim it? Does it do the job?

Yes. But I have nicked myself a few times with the scissors. Rather that than than the nasty wee smelling hair remover. Never liked the look of melted hair and skin on a bit of toilet paper.

I wax my face, but after coming here feel guilty about the money spent on unnecessary beauty treatments that I should have saved

I wax my 'tache (classy), and pluck the few strays on mychin. About every two-three weeks.

Wax every 5 weeks. Hurts to buggery so I take painkillers before I go and I'm bright red afterwards so can't "go" anywhere.

I shave my 'tash. Dont have side hair issues and pluck the odd chin sprouter.

how excruciatingly painful is that thing to use??

i'm not very hairy in general but i now have upper lip hair that bothers me but it turns out that i can't have my lip waxed - was left with red raised bumps for a full week when i tried it! (at a salon where i'd previously had my legs and eyebrows done)

would like to try threading but live in the back of beyond so there's nobody local who does it...

I check for stray hairs after washing face in morning, and use tweezers whenever I find any. Fast, cheap, convenient.

I don't find it too sore but I think a good tip is to Nair first and then use the epistick 2/3 times a week - that way you're not pulling all your locks out at once. [hshock]

It's painful but not too bad. The reason I try to use it every day is so that I am not trying to pull out a whole load at once! A quick once over every evening does the trick.

Does anyone know whether the epilator that was linked woud work on quite strong, coarse hairs? I have a real problem for which I have tried many solutions: cream (doesnt work, hair too tough), waxing (same), lazer (just didn't work) and tweezing which does work but makes me break out.

I used to wonder why od ladies went around with beards but now I know.....it just is not that easy to get rid of it!

Ok maybe a stupid question but the epilator thing that was linked to, is that for removing vellus hair on cheeks? Does everyone have this or am I abnormal?

waxing upper lip and chin area every week at mo, but it does not get rid of stubborn course ones and i find they are a bit more spikey when they grow back, when kids give me a kisss goodbye they say oh mum you're all spikey! Blush i think i may try threading, does it hurt?

I'd say in retrospect, leave the vellus hairs alone. I had blonde, but quite long hairs on the sides of my cheeks which didn't bother me that much but they were lasered when I had the rest of my wolf face done and now the hairs that were soft, fine and blonde are dark and coarse. Marvelous!

I've tried pretty much everything. Lasering didn't work as a permanent solution for me but was quite good as a longer term solution than waxing or plucking etc but I can't have it now because I'm on steroids which make your skin too sensitive. Also I think I have Keratosis Pilaris, as well as acne, on my face so if I remove facial hair I get loads of spots/bumps on my skin that won't go away. It's bad enough as it is, now I have to choose between a hairy face and shit skin or a non hairy face and really shit skin. Wooohooo!

I have a x 15 magnifying mirror and I do eyebrows and upper lip with tweezerman angled tweezers about once a week. Do it immediately after a long hot shower and wipe area with toner on cotton wool as soon as its done (prevents spots).

I was a lot hairier when I was younger and actually find its less of a problem as I get older Smile.

I was born a furry mole creature and I have been lasered. It has literally changed my life. I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to never ever ever worry about my whiskers. Stop eating, stop buying new clothes, default on the mortgage - whatever it takes. Worth every penny and more.

Threading every three weeks on brows and upper lip must admit find it pretty painful tho. I also tweeze anything that appears in between appointments. Try to avoid having it done when you've got your period tho as your skin is more sensitive then so it will be more painful and more prone to blotching or spotting after.
