Mineral makeup with acne?

Hi all. I've seen lots of glowing reviews on here of Bare Minerals and similar mineral foundations.

However, I've got acne - had it since 13 Sad - and I always have red spots and ex-spots that need to be covered. At the moment I use a MAC liquid concealer, and lots of it. The liquid lets me apply very specifically to the spot and blend with fingers and apply more layers. I can't see how a powder concealer would work? Can it be applied very precisely and can you build up the layers?

Anyone use mineral makeup with acne? How do you cover the spots?

TIA

No, no more heavy than any number of other concealers I've tried. It comes as a fluid and also as a cream, so you can take your pick...

FGM; sorry am on me phone so ÃŽ can't do links, but if you do a search on the acne.org website you should find it. They have a forum too, about picking and squeezing, I only ever lurked but 'tis good (if a little cheesy in an American way). I am so buying some LL next week when I get paid, the zinc sounds good:)

Normal makeup blocks the pores and doesn't allow your skin to breathe exacerbating the problem. Mineral makeup is natural and allows the skin to breathe, so therefore not adding to the problem but helping you hide it. It is more money but so much better for you - and can last longer.

Alfie - there are British topics on the acne forums, they discuss which substitutes to use. I use neutrogena, quinoderm, jojoba oil and olay moisturiser.

After years of trying everything in the market, I asked my GP about acne, and he prescribed Dalacin. I am very happy with it. You pay normal prescription prices for it and the bottle last over 2 months. My skin is so much better now!

Thanks Freddie, I will have a look. I am currently using Neutrogena, which (touch wood) seems to be working Grin

Another little update, I mentioned I had tried the prestige minerals (available from boots), but it seemed to make me very shiny. Anyway, I thought I would have another go as I was sure the Revlon colour stay wasn't helping my skin. So I applied less of the minerals and really, really buffed it in (Almost to the point of scrubbing), I also stopped using concealer and applied normal anti shine powder over the top. The result is my skin is definitely improving and even in this mini heat wave my foundation has lasted until the end of the day and looks lovely.

Another result is when I bought this, the girl only charged me £2.50 when it's normally £9.99, I checked the receipt, and it's right so must have been on offer.

Another vote for Lily Lolo - I've never looked so beautiful. With it on, that is.
