here

do you like it?

i love it! am getting my hair cut next week. have short hair already, and have face shape which could cope with it if i lost 3 stone.

i just want to know what other women think of it.

am in late 30s if it matters.

I think it's a little severe on her but she does look good anyway. I love short hair though I think it can look fantastic as long as the hair is cut well. I think it can look very feminine, again if cut well.

I also think shorter hair is much better on women over a 'certain age'. Most, not all obviously, can start to look a little 'I'm desperately trying to hang on to my youth with my long hair' and just a but mumsy in my view.

I'm in my mid forties now and have pretty long hair so I've decided to go shorter in the next couple of weeks and think it's perfectly possible to have a great short hairstyle without looking like a frump! As with any hairstyle, long or short, a great cut for the shape of your face is key I think.

Lizzylou · 20/09/2011 18:48

I love it, I think she has a beautiful face, if I could look 1/10th as good as her I'd have my hair cropped.

Unfortunately I have a football face and am built like a rugby player so it's not going to happen.

I think with these short cuts it's all about face shape and cheekbones, if you have good cheekbones you can pretty much carry anything off Envy

JennyPiccolo · 20/09/2011 18:49

She annoys me but she looks good.

Love it (but I have long hair = safe & easy & pony-tails!)

Its brave but its good, you need an elfin face for it.

caramelwaffle · 20/09/2011 20:07

Love it.

gapants · 20/09/2011 20:14

Looks amazing on her, but then she has cheekbones and a petite frame so is rockign that whole pixie look.

bunny I hear you! I see many a woman with "jazzy" purplish hair that is all spikey at the crown. I call it the mum-cut.

willybreeder · 20/09/2011 20:15

I think she looks amazing! Unless someone has great hair or is good at doing hair ups long hair looks naff I think, it's a waste if you constantly tie it back - may as well go shorter. If you are lucky enough to have beautiful eyes and great bone structure go short! More fashionable.

ArmageddonOuttahere · 20/09/2011 20:17

Love it, but without spot-on styling every day it could go a bit soccer-mom

I really like it and wish I could carry it off
She looks her age fair play to her, does us oldies a favour
I think she looks a bit like Sadie Frost with this new cut

ArmageddonOuttahere · 20/09/2011 20:24

AAaaaaaaaarrgh and now I've been sucked into the Daily Fail showbiz pages.

Must Stop Clicking..

polyhymnia · 20/09/2011 23:24

Do like it and very much disagree that longer hair automatically = more feminine.

smartyparts · 20/09/2011 23:51

She's very beautiful and cheekbone-y, so it looks amazing on her.

Most mortals couldn't get away with it imo.

meltedchocolate · 20/09/2011 23:54

Dislike it. It does suit her but is not feminine enough for me.

icapturethecastle · 20/09/2011 23:58

I like Danni's hair (although in the first pic she does look a little harsh) also love Emma Willis hair. I am a 39 yo with a Frankie from the saturday's try hard haircut so I don't know if you want to take my opinion into account!

chimchar · 21/09/2011 06:16

thanks everyone.

will keep trawling for piccies of cool short hair then.

my hairdresser is amazing...she's also my SIL. she never leaves me with crap hair, so she might suggest something similar but to suit me.

really appreciate all your opinions.

FoofFighters · 21/09/2011 08:34

I think it really suits her. But she has done something funny to her upper lip and this accentuates it Confused

A short hair cut really puts your face on show so you need to have good features for it IMHO. I always remember Liz Hurley (I think) saying Sienna Miller's short haircut for a film really 'exposed' her.

LaDolcheRyvita · 21/09/2011 09:12

No. Don't like that, at all.

Loved her soft bob, fabulous. I think the gamine ages her.

sparkle1977 · 21/09/2011 10:27

I love Dannii's new hair however I do agree with other posters that it makes her look older. It wouldn't suit me but if I thought it would i'd get it done. Besides I am shite at styling my hair, hence long hair that just needs a comb through!

sprinkles77 · 21/09/2011 16:12

No. it's aging. And (from personal experience) is likely to take just as long to style as longer hair. And need regular cutting. Mine was like this for a while when I was growing out a very short crop. nightmare.

OmniumAndGatherum · 21/09/2011 16:19

I think it's fabulous.

TougherThanTheRest · 21/09/2011 16:30

God is there nothing that isn't deemed to be 'mumsy' on here? Now along with mum jeans and mum boots we've got a mum haircut. Nothing like making someone feel crap when they're just trying to look nice - and yes I have got short hair - although it's not (currently) reddish or purplish - and sometimes I do wear it a bit spiky. This post was about Dannii's haircut, no need to start slating those of us who dare to have a similar cut when we're past 35 .

baguettecut · 21/09/2011 16:31

I think it's lovely and suits her.

I've had v short hair, also a bit longer, now growing into a bob.

I see some people with longer hair and think they look great, I also see people with short hair that look great. I looked better with short hair when I was younger, now I feel I need a bit of softness.....but I change my mind often. It's hair, it grows and it's a very personal thing. I have friends who have DHs who dictate the colour of their hair, style etc, that's very sad, but a different debate!

AnyFucker · 21/09/2011 16:41

Like I said, my hair is like this

yes, it needs a trim every 6 weeks

but it takes me literally 2 minutes to style it in a morning
